where do you guys think See You Again will end up? Would it make it to the top 10? It's still a possibility. But the chances are getting slim now that it's out of the top 10. It would have to come a long way from where it is now.

Why is Daniel Collins ignoring me? Because he is Daniel Collins and that's what he does - he ignores people

Why is Daniel Collins ignoring me? What? I'm not ignoring you. It just happens that I am not online when you posted your question. Anyway, I don't think Uptown Funk! could get to #2 at All-Time. #3 might be its best shot right now.

What is the point system for the artist charts? LMFAO's 2 biggest songs total 2.4 million points but the artist chart lists them just under 2 million.

when the pawn...It's just totals. LMFAO would only get 70% of PRA's points. The 30% would be divided between the featured artists.

"See you again" is likely to end up behind "shake it off" somehow but not for sure. I'm positive that it doesn't stand a chance of entering top 10 of decade-end, probably 23-30, it's slipping so fast

Anyway, I don't think Uptown Funk! could get to #2 at All-Time. #3 might be its best shot right now. First of all, I am new to this site, though I am a regular on ATRL, so many of you may recognize me from there. I hope everyone is well, and I appreciate Daniel's hard work on this column. "Uptown Funk's" point total is now up to 1,525,727; which is up 8,626 points from the previous week's total of 1,517,091. "Smooth's" point total is 1,621,940; which is a lead of 96,213 points over UF. Given how slow UF has fallen, I think UF can pass Smooth in total points before 2015 ends. The kicker will be how far UF falls when Billboard readjusts its formula at the beginning of December to lessen the effects of streaming (UF is currently around 58% streaming). "All Of Me" and "Happy" only lasted one week after the change last year, but UF is stronger than either AOM or Happy at this point in the Chart Year. I think UF will be around #30 at the end of the 2015 Chart Year, and it's possible UF could tie "Truly Madly Deeply's" Top 30 longevity record of 52 weeks. There are 11 Hot 100s chart weeks including this week's chart before the 2015 Chart Year ends. UF is higher than AOF and Happy was at week 41 in the Top 40 (UF has spent all 41 weeks in the Top 20, which is every week of the chart year). Also in UF's favor is the AMA's results will count entirely on the week following the chart's change in formula. Since AMA is more heavily chart-based in giving out awards, UF should get a boost from the awards show, which would mitigate the losses UF receives from the reduction in streaming. If UF can hold on past this point, its airplay will increase as stations begin playing more of 2015's biggest hits, and its sales and streaming will likely increase again toward and just after the holidays. Should this work out and UF can remain on the Hot 100, UF will pass Smooth. As for the configuration of points BB uses for songs prior to the Soundscan era, since BB concentrates so heavily on time spent in the Top 2/3/5/10, I think multiplying 1.5 or 1.6, or at most 1.75; is more appropriate until 1985-91, when multiplying by 2 is indeed necessary due to the speed of the charts. One of the most screwed over songs in chart history is "Everything I Do I Do It For You" by Bryan Adams. The new methodology charts were already available, and the song spent 8-10 weeks on at #1 on Hot Radio Songs concurrently with its 17 week stay at #1 on Hot Singles Sales (it sold 4.1 million physical singles). Yet, Billboard was still using the old system for the Hot 100, so Adams only got 7 weeks at #1. If "The Twist" was divided by 1.5. it would have approximately 1,575,000 points, 1,680,000 at 1.6, and 1,837,500 at 1.75; which is far more reasonable. The 1.6 multiplier is a happy medium for 1958-84. There is no way in hell TT deserves to be multiplied by 2 and get 2.1 million points, and BB needs to take this into consideration before releasing its 60th edition of the All-Time Hot 100 in 2018. Also, BB might want to consider boosting some of the songs charting in the more quickly moving time frames of the Soundscan era (1992-1994 and 1999) to 1.2.

I'm pretty sure billboard uses the multiplier 1.7 for 1958-1970, 1.6 for about 1971-1972, 2 for 1973-1976, 1.6 for about 1977-1991, 1 for 1992-2012, 0.9 for 2012-present. Anyway, if Uptown Funk wants to funk Smooth up, then it'll need to spend at least 60-65 weeks (20 more to go!!) on chart. I personally won't see it happening but who knows

Smooth only stayed 58 weeks on the chart though. Uptown Funk has already spent longer on the chart in virtually every longevity category: #1 14 wks v 12, T2 18 v 14, T3 21 v 19, T5 25 v 22, T10 31 v 30, T15 Smooth does win this 36 v 34, T20 41 v 38. Smooth spent 45 weeks in the Top 30, 50 in the Top 40, and 58 on the Hot 100.
I think UF could do it with less than 60 weeks, and I think it has a decent chance of staying on the chart until the week after the 2015 Year-End Countdowns are played. That would put UF at around 58-60 weeks, only probably 55 of UF's weeks would be in the Top 40 instead of 50, and 50-52 in the Top 30 instead of 44. UF was also higher in week 42 on the Hot 100 than Smooth, 19 v 27.
And Billboard should really increase the multiplier for 1985-91 as fast as the charts moved during those years compared to 1977-84. Also, the multiplier should be higher in 1992-94 and 1999, as even though these were Soundscan years, the charts still moved fast compared to the other years. Maybe 1.15 or something.

Considering it over-ranks songs from some time periods and under-ranks songs from others Billboard should consider doing so. In 2008, Real McCoy's "Another Night," which peaked at #3 in late 1994 and early 1995, barely made the All Time Hot 100, and with 11 weeks at #3 and 22 weeks in the Top 10 the song certainly deserved to be there as the only non Top Two song to rank on the All-Time Hot 100.
However, "Another Night" was pushed out on the 55th Edition of the All Time Hot 100 in 2013 by songs with less impressive chart runs. "Another Night's" longevity was very strong for the early years of the Soundscan Charts, which is why BB shouldn't weigh all of them the same. 1992-early 1995 Soundscan Hot 100s moved nothing like Soundscan Hot 100 from mid 1995-1998, when longevity was much more common.
In 1999 when airplay only songs were added to the Hot 100, the chart moved quite quickly for that year before it began slowing down again in 2000. So 1992-early 1995 & 1999 should be weighed differently than mid 1995-1998 and 2000-February 2012 (ODS was introduced in March 2012, so that is weighed differently again).

And I know Uptown Funk's points count a little less than Smooth's, but I still think it can overcome the difference (that is why I noted all of the differences in the comparisons). If in fact Bruno Mars is the one appearing at the halftime show for Super Bowl 50, and UF can stay on the Hot 100 until then, UF would get a huge boost, and a week or two later the Grammy's would hit. I'm only expecting UF to make it into the first couple of January charts, unless his label really starts promoting his performance early on.
Later today Hot 100 42 for 2015 comes out, leaving 10 Chart Weeks left for 2015, and 14 Hot 100s for the 2015 Calendar Year. Uptown Funk will be in its 53rd week at the end of the 2015 Chart Year. If UF gets the expected Christmas Christmas boost, that's 4 more weeks, which gets the total to 57, then there's the first two weeks in January beyond which I cannot be certain about UF, but that would get UF to week 59.
I'll be adding up it's points every week and subtracting it from the difference between UF and Smooth to see what happens. You may be right, but I might be right too.

Uptown Funk has tool a hard fall last week, and didn't recover any of it's loss this week. Unless something changes, it may lose its chance to take over #2 from Smooth. Considering how long UF stayed in every category from the T 20 upward, this last couple of weeks is disheartening to say the least.

If Bruno Mars took "Uptown Funk!"'s whole credit, he could've been at 7.1 million points giving him an almost 300k advantage over Katy.

Based on bad numbers at YouTube, PopBars, and Spotify, Uptown Funk won't rebound this week either. I'm hoping UF doesn't fall below #30, since it's got to bottom out again pretty soon. And the higher UF is when it bottoms out, the less likely UF would be impacted when BB weakens streaming the first week of December. Of course, right now it has to make it that long. I'll say UF falls to #30 next week.

I won't really care if UF falls below #30 next week it will be in the Top 5 All-Time 60th Anniversary List anyways so it dosen't really matter that much anymore Santana & Rob Thomas both deserve to have the All-Time second most successful song.

when BB weakens streaming the first week of December. Are we sure this is happening? It's becoming increasingly more evident that streaming is more relevant than sales nowadays...I don't see Billboard desperately clinging to a fading format just because it will lead to more turnover.
