I just don't see how Anaconda is more memorable than Super Bass (Superb Ass haha) and Starships, which the #2 peak based on curiosity views seems to imply. I'm not saying it shouldn't have done well, a #4 or #5 peak would've made sense. I agree with JT they should include likes vs. dislikes rather than just raw views. Anyway I'm not about to have this debate again. So sick of it. Anaconda is definitely not remotely close to being her most memorable song, let alone being one of the most memorable songs of 2014. I wouldn't consider a song's peak position as a indicator of how "memorable" it is - all a peak tells us is how that song performed in comparison to other songs during one week in time (or more, if the song stayed at its peak for multiple weeks). I know that people do this all the time, but a song's success obviously shouldn't be judged based on its peak alone - that's just one small piece of the puzzle. a song's overall chart run tells you much more about its overall success, and "Anaconda"s run was nothing like that of "Super Bass" (I'm sure those songs' cumulative sales would tell you the same thing, though I don't have the exact figures.) I don't see anyone trying to claim that "Anaconda" is more "memorable" than "Super Bass" just because it peaked one position higher - and anyone making that claim either doesn't know or doesn't care how charts work.

And who say that? You? Haha, okay. a lot of people actually. A lot of people say All about that bass shouldn't have been #1. A lot of people despise Taylor Swift. At the end of the day, their opinions don't really change sh-t.

It wasn't a matter of song preference though. Those songs, love them or hate them, were in fact the most popular songs in those weeks by sales, reviews, etc. But in this case it's because we don't like the song, but because they realize that views =/= people like the song hence why we think that it wasn't the second-most popular song that week. Of course it's not that lol. I hated songs like Single Ladies and Party in the USA but I can see why they made it as high as they did. That is not the case with Anaconda, Harlem Shake, Hot Boy, etc. this isn't really a 12/20/2014 chart topic and I wasn't trying to start this debate again so I think we should go back to discussing this week's chart. Lots of songs keeping TMTC from the top ten, it seems :( and looks like Blank Space may very well be #1 in airplay by Wednesday! And it looks like it could be there for a while! BS easily becoming Taylor's biggest song to date!

Meghan's Lips Are Movin' is now #4 in ITunes and still gaining, radio is picking up and it's already top 10 in Spotify, I really think it'll challenge Blank Space for that #1, I don't think TMTC or any other song is gaining fast enough, some have already peaked.

I just don't see how Anaconda is more memorable than Super Bass (Superb Ass haha) and Starships, which the #2 peak based on curiosity views seems to imply. Based on curiosity views? Can you prove this? You have some data supporting this? No? Told ya. I'm not saying it shouldn't have done well, a #4 or #5 peak would've made sense. Write a petition for Billboard, they may change it. Or not? Will they give half a shit about your opinion? :o There... I agree with JT they should include likes vs. dislikes rather than just raw views. Which again, makes no sense. Liking a video makes no difference, Nicki's label and Nicki still got the money. If you like the video you are more likely to watch it again. There's that. Anyway I'm not about to have this debate again. So sick of it. Admirable! Please. Anaconda is definitely not remotely close to being her most memorable song, let alone being one of the most memorable songs of 2014. It is one of the most memorable songs of 2014 and you will deal. Maybe not in your little hidden cave, but outside... yeah... it was indeed a huge hit.

You can't say you should only count views from people that liked a song though. I don't like every song on the radio, and plenty of other people don't either. We don't get yo deduct from AI based on how much you like a song. If I buy a song because I like it but a week later I can't stand it, I don't get to undo my purchase.

The chorus and bridge are memorable also, due to the sample. Rocky, I just don't understand why Onika has him so upset. No one was forcing him to look at her assets.

Actually Rocky they already did change it a couple weeks ago in favor of decreased points for streaming and increased points for sales remember? So I'm happy now just wish they did it sooner lol And Technicolor Gooch radio airplay is based largely on requests though...and people have their preferences based on stations so say for example if someone dislikes AATB and loves SIO of course they will be tuned into a station that plays the latter more and the former less instead of one that is vice versa.

Blank Space falling in sales ever so slightly. Oh and Billboard released iTunes year-end charts. I was scared because I thought it was Hot 100 and I was like HOW THE HELL IS CS NOT IN TOP TEN

Mark, for god's sake, fucking get over it. Hot 100 is not for indicating your taste, but to approximately show which songs get the most revenue to the labels.

I can tell you that's not totally true…when I worked in radio most of the day parts were tracked ahead of time. Meaning the DJ records the bulk of their shift when they come in and spend the rest of their time doing commercials and special projects. Often there's no one actually there answering phones and taking requests. And even if they do, and say they will play your song, it's likely because it was already coming up anyway. Mainstream playlists are heavily researched and tightened to the point that swapping songs for requests is difficult and, where I worked, frowned upon. That's just the reality of it.

It does seem quite peculiar that All About That Bass is trouncing pretty much everything but Blank Space right now. I thought that by now the controversy (which I thought is what allowed for its #1 surge/reign) had subsided. Maybe Meghan just has that YouTube starpower or something, because I see Lips Are Movin' is a good amount above most of its closest competition as well. By the way, kworb's avatar is Tiziano Ferro, the Italian pop singer, Dylan :). He has a couple for rotation, but as long as I've been here (admittedly not long, but still), it's always been Ferro. His kworb site even has a little section that takes you to Ferro's videography on YouTube because he's that big of a fan.

I don't get how AATB is still #2 on the Hot 100 despite barely being top ten in airplay and sales especially with the recent long overdue change in methodology... :/

Habits I like the idea of TMTC breaking the alternative "curse" (the one where numerous songs in the past few years peaked at #3 for multiple weeks - Hey, Soul Sister, Pumped Up Kicks, Some Nights, Ho Hey, Radioactive, Habits) and making it to #2! :) Also like the idea of AATB finally falling (I like the song but it seriously needs to go down already, it's been up there forever and I cannot condone it passing the 25 weeks in the top ten of CS/Apologize!!! ) Also SIO is seriously a contender for breaking the Starships record now!!! Would be really cool if it can do it!
