^True. Veni- with the Hot 100 based on airplay, sales and streaming, that's tough to say. Right now, none of those three components are that significant (unless the U.S. streaming total saw a decent increase this week). At best this week, maybe it will debut on Bubbling Under. You think only bubbling under? Airplay was nonexistent last week but sales+streaming might be enough for a low Hot 100 debut. You could be right though.

I don't consider this a holiday weekend at all. Just because there is "love" in the title? So I gather the payola is working? We'll see when it smashes on the bubbling under charts!

So I gather the payola is working? Or perhaps good call out scores, the positive reactions to her new music, having the most watched performance of the Grammys and Clear Channel wanting to avoid the negative press the BBC is currently getting after admitting Radio 1 made the decision to stop playing her music in 2010 simply because of her age.

If similar gains continue through Tuesday, the BDS total would be around 4m-5m or so. If it had enough overall points to chart, great, but I'm not expecting it. It's looking to be a competitive week, with the 50 Shades of Grey singles, Drake's tracks, other Grammy-performed tracks, etc.

Again, I would be happy with a debut at #100, I just want an appearance on the overall Billboard Hot 100! :)

^If it's going to chart, you'd want it to do so by a tad more than the skin of... well, you know. ;)

^I don't know if official call-out scores would be back (as it didn't get played in late December/January too much)- there could be some listener feedback, though.

Call out scores are out already? No. Call out scores are out already? Well it first went to radio in December. For validity purposes, callout scores aren't published if less than 60% of raters are familiar with the song. For a song with such minimal airplay, it's quite possible this hasn't passed 60% yet. For comparison, Rihanna's new single just passed that threshold in this week's published scores.

LBoy- asking if payola is working, and not considering that it's getting play for any other reason? No, that's not negative or shady at all. But it's all good- we should all be "Living For Love."

Gyal... don't even try it. Just because you word it differently, doesn't mean you've never been guilty of it. ;)

Aren't call out scores only available 4-6 weeks after the song starts charting?
Yes, LFL "was sent" to radio in December, but there was zero promotion of it until a few weeks ago.

MUSIC NEWS MADONNA’S “LIVING FOR LOVE” BECOMES ONE OF POP’S 50 MOST-PLAYED SONGS
BY BRIAN CANTOR
Following its strong Valentine's Day performance, Madonna's "Living for Love" now ranks as one of the pop format's 50 most-played songs.
Thanks to a big Valentine’s Day push, Madonna’s “Living for Love” now registers as one of the fifty most-played songs at pop radio.
The song, which made an underwhelming pop radio impact last week, registers at #49 on Monday’s edition of the rolling Mediabase pop radio chart.
That #49 position is attributable to the 427 spins “Living for Love” received between February 9 and 15. Reports indicate that 205 of those spins came on Valentine’s Day.
Whether this weekend’s airplay represents an anomaly or the beginning of a momentum swing remains to be seen, but it certainly breeds some optimism for those discouraged by previous status reports.
Per last week’s Mediabase add board, only fifteen monitored stations added “Living for Love” in conjunction with its official radio impact (and on the heels of its Grammmy Awards showcase).
That it had gained virtually no traction ahead of its official impact date–Mediabase says it only received 10 pop radio spins during the week between February 2 and 8 despite its weeks of pre-impact buzz and availability–provided further reason to doubt the extent to which radio programmers were “Living for Love.”
If audiences reacted favorably to the song they started to hear more frequently over Valentine’s Day weekend, that could change. http://headlineplane...0-played-songs/

GGW reached a level similar to where LFL is now (450 spins or so via BDS).

I like this song. Wouldn't mind seeing Madge have a little hit on her hands with it.

It's tricky, because I'm not sure that BBC's response rules out the possibility that the spirit of the original story was accurate. Obviously, The Daily Mail is inaccurately using the word "banned" and incorrectly documenting how radio programming works. The original article says it was "dropped," but if I'm following the actual story correctly, it doesn't appear it was ever actually added. But the actual quote going at the center of the Mail's nothing about a "ban." It simply says that Madonna doesn't resonate with the station's target audience. Based on how infrequently the station has played the song, I'm *SURE* there are "insiders" who feel that way. -- Moreover, if there were a defamation issue, wouldn't it apply to Radio 1 rather than Madonna? The station is the one that got accused of being ageist - so it's the one that potentially has recourse.
