FYI- the info we get on Sunday will remove, from the rolling total, the first day that it started getting notable play.

^Bite your tongue. Spotify plays look to be up 200K from when I checked yesterday. It looks to be increasing more now than what it had been.

The Inquisitr isn't a reputable news source, but there's nothing in there that's really news or anything we didn't already know.

I know they are not reputable! There are plenty that dont know whats going on with airplay and will come across this article somewhere, so it's all good. I just posted it here to show that there was a pro airplay article out there.Β

Happy to see this is finally on its way to the Billboard Hot 100 next week (fingers crossed)! I looked up Cher's stats since we are talking about older artists. Cher was age 52 when Believe was #1 for 4 weeks on the Billboard Hot 100 and lingered 31 weeks and age 53 when Strong Enough was on the Hot 100 peaking at #57 with 12 weeks on the Hot 100. At age 56 Cher was on the Billboard Hot 100 with Song for the Lonely. SFTL peaked at #85 and was on for 6 weeks. Cher made it to the Billboard Bubbling Under chart at age 67 with Woman's World which was amazing. At age 68 Cher was on the Billboard AC chart with I Hope You Find It for 20 weeks. Cher's management and record label did very little to promote her stuff especially IHYFI but it caught on at AC Radio. Madonna at 56 is getting the radio resistance crap like Cher did but thankfully she has stronger management and a better record label. Cher is the kind of artist who does her thing then sort of goes away and with a weak management team and record label that does not try to push her stuff it sort of has to make it on its own. Madonna is more of a Type A persona with strong management and a label that tries to push her stuff so I think LFL will do great (or at least I hope so). I hope LFL and other Madonna cuts get pushed at AC Radio. If Cher got radio play at AC at age 68, Madonna sure CAN at age 56!
We all know if Living For Love featured someone young and hot like Taylor Swift or Rihanna or Katy Perry or any hot artist or group it would be a major hit already. Living for Love is a great song and just getting it any play at all is a big deal and I'm happy to see her adds for it!

It's in the 190s on iTunes now! Is that the full iTunes chart, or the one that excludes certain songs, which makes pop songs chart higher? Currently it's #236. It hasn't moved much since airplay increased. iTunes sales are important because if radio is supporting the song but people are not buying it, radio might stop supporting the song because they feel it's not connecting with the general public. At #35, it's starting to stick out due to its low sales vs spins: kworb.net/radio/If you compare the total audience vs sales, sales become more of an issue. The bigger the audience, the more people are exposed to the song. Streaming isn't increasing also, it's been steadily low for awhile. It only has airplay atm.

It was when I selected "All Categories". It's not showing up at all now in the Top 200. Narrowing it down to "Pop" it shows up at 60.

The streaming counts do look like they're increasing at higher rates than before, but of course they're low when compared to the views for other, more current acts. :) Chart tidbits from Billboard.com for this week: www.billboard.com/articles/columns/chart-beat/6480133/madeon-hot-dance-electronic-songs-chartMADONNA'S FIRST TOP 10: Madonna's made major news by scoring her 44th No. 1 on the Dance Club Songs chart dated March 7 with "Living for Love," tying her with George Strait for the most leaders on a single Billboard chart. (Strait has logged 44 No. 1s on Hot Country Songs.) Meanwhile, on Hot Dance/Electronic Songs, Madonna notches a notable first: her first top 10. Madonna marches 13-9 on Hot Dance/Electronic Songs with "Love," marking her first trip to the upper region. (How is it her first top 10 on the list, given her three decades of musical dominance? The chart, measuring sales, radio airplay, streams and club play, launched in January 2013.) While "Love" had appeared on the chart for eight prior weeks, its rank is buoyed by her performance of it on the Feb. 8 Grammy Awards telecast. "Living" leaps by 64 percent to 587,000 U.S. streams in the week ending Feb. 15, with 58 percent stemming from YouTube on Vevo views (which include the song's official video and the live Grammys performance). The first single from Rebel Heart (March 10) is the chart's top Digital Gainer and similarly surges by 72 percent to 17,000 downloads sold and soars 11-5 on Dance/Electronic Digital Songs. "Love" is Madonna's second top 10 on the sales tally; fellow new album track "Bitch I'm Madonna" peaked at No. 9 on Jan. 3.

The streaming counts do look like they're increasing at higher rates than before, but of course they're low when compared to the views for other, more current acts. :) If LFL is going to turn into a solid hit, the current acts will be her competition. She does need to be competitive with the current acts if she wants a hit. I'm hoping for at least a top 40 peak. But, next week LFL is likely going to have very low sales (almost the whole week in the 200's). Streaming has also been lower this week on Vevo. So the airplay increase won't be as significant on the hot 100. On a positive note, the longer radio supports the song, the more LFL is going to grow on people.

It is not as much about "current acts" as much as it is about radio and the feeling they are getting from their listeners on rather they want to hear the song.
This initial support from radio is greatβ¦..however, we are still talking about a pretty low number of spins per station which means the average person has not heard the song yet. It is really up to radio at this point because most hardcore fans have the single with a pre-order of the album or will wait till the release date. We need the general public and that will not happen unless she at least gets in the top 25 in airplay with many more spins than where she currently is.
If this song is a hit, I do not think it will follow the pattern we Madonna fans are use toβ¦..it will be a slower growing hit since she is not an automatic anymore and does not have a feature.

I'm so upset, I didn't want to hear the demo version of LFL until after the album came out but I think I accidentally just listened to it watching this fan video :( youtu.be/GKeB-w4wJIw

^You have to be more careful. :)
Wolfy- I don't know if a top 40 placement on the Hot 100 will occur. I suppose that during album-release week, it will have bigger exposure, and potentially, bigger sales.
I don't know, from what I've noticed with the Vevo on YouTube count, it looks as if it's been gaining more daily. I forget exactly where it, and the Grammys video, stood at the end of Sunday, though (as well as any YouTube audio, which would be less significant numbers).

Audio and video version of LFL each approaching 5 million views. Wonder if it can hit that # by Sunday.

So is the change positive or negative for LFL? I think it would be positive, no? And Sunday will be whacked because of the eight day effect. Hmmm

So is the change positive or negative for LFL? More stations added to the Pop panel that play LFL is a positive thing.

Yeah today's update looks inflated due to the new stations. IDK what the gains actually were; I don't have the post-change numbers for yesterday below #30.

If it has a similar number of plays today compared to last Saturday, the bullet change shouldn't be too bad, right?
FYI- the only stations from the above list that don't show as a BDS Top 40 station are WWAC and WZNF.
