I'm more concerned with her getting a Top 10 Hot 100 placement - I think if the cards line up right she can sneak a week in. That would mean, excluding WIR, all of her lead singles were Hot 100 Top 10s :)

Hot AC LOVES Kelly. This song is so damn juvenile for a singer who's been in the game for almost 15 years. While MKIA may seem safe it least it was a slightly different sound for her and came across very mature. This song does nothing to add to her catalog and I'm hoping her second single she's allowed to take some risks for once.

The song is about her being away from having fun for so long that she forgot how to, and she's finally getting the chance to have some fun again. It's not supposed to be some "Catch My Breath" type lyric.

even the awful single Dark Side  Anyways, I'm going back and forth on how I feel about this. I'm burned out on it one day and the next I'm rocking out to it at the gym. I think top 3 at HOT AC is a given and by the time she makes her way to the upper part of the pop chart, many songs will be dropping which will definitely make room for her in the top 10 as long as she's consistent. |

Yeah, part of me is wondering if this is getting lost in the shuffle.
There is a lot of CHR competition right now. It’s still very early in its run (I hope), but it has been sitting in the 40’s on iTunes all week and just doesn’t seem to want to budge. It’s only been added to half the CHR panel so far so let’s hope it gets some more ads and things pick up soon, otherwise I’m a little worried this could perform about as well as ‘People Like Us’ (unlike that song, though, at least HBS is a Top 40 Billboard Hot 100 hit at this point). By the way, it slipped 37-67 this week on the BB Hot 100. Not sure if that was mentioned. She may get her best position on the BB Hot 100 album release week.
The video is still to come so hopefully that can spark some interest. Also possible promo performances. That should help but if not, oh well; I honestly don’t feel Kelly has much to prove on CHR anymore. She’s been to the mountain top and, yes, solid airplay hits are great and will help sell the album, but her days on the format may be coming to an end. Sigh. Not trying to be all “the sky is falling,” just realistic.
It’s still a fun bop though! :)

Till she makes some promo (and fails to have an impact) i wouldn't take too many conclusions. There are too many weird updates for a lot of songs lately so everything could happen

I don't see this going top 10 on pop. It might get there on the other formats though. I predict it will max out at around 60 million AI and plummet. Sales are an indicator that the public is not here for this.

I know as a big Kelly fan I'm supposed to drag this comment or something, but I'm more inclined to agree. The more I hear it the more I think this is simply just too generic and Radio Disney for an artist of her caliber. It's something that honestly wouldn't have even been on place on her first album, because those songs were more sophisticated than this. It does feel like her most juvenile single to date. I Do Not Hook Up is her only other single that I would use that word with. |

To me, it doesn't sound juvenile so much as something that would be playing in the background at the end of a Hallmark made-for-tv movie. We are officially making the move to her being more of an AC/Hot Ac artist so I think soccer mom is the audience they are envisioning for this. It will still absolutely be a huge Hot Ac/AC hit. It is fine as long as the entire cd isn't like this. Or, I guess if it is that is what Kelly wants and I am happy she is happy and doing her own thing.

I think this has a chance to be a moderate hit for her (Likely a Catch My Breath-Best case scenario Already Gone level ) but I don't think this is fresh enough to stop her from declining in commercial success this era. Her voice makes her one of the artists to able to transition to the more 'alternative/stripped down' trend that is transpiring, but she needs to stop playing it safe or she's gonna be left behind. At this point she's already accomplished enough to become a nostalgia act, it's just a matter of how ambitious she is. She has it in her, her voice is enough to rise above any appearance/budgets/etc. issues. I hope seeing the success other artists are having gives her the courage to take the risks and step it up.

Unfortunately, I have to agree. I was really hyped when it was released, but it's just not on the same level of her previous work. Here's hoping they take its underperformance in consideration when choosing single #2.
But in hindsight, Kelly's last real smash wouldn't have succeeded that much if it wasn't for the ad (Pepsi? Toyota? can't remember exactly), even if the song's amazing on its own. Anyway, I wish her the best :)
