Probably my favorite from her. Parts of this song are annoying but the chorus is excellent!

It's good, but I would place it near the bottom when ranking the Loose singles.

It should've been a bigger hit. After "Say It Right," it's easily my favorite single from Loose.

My second favorite song by her behind "Promiscuous". Great track!

I lived in Europe when this was out and it was HUGE, I mean near Crazy In Love levels huge, you heard it everywhere that summer.
I always liked the track, and the break at the end, more than the actual song. I never hear this anywhere nowadays.

Love this. Shamefully I only discovered it just this year. It was love at first listen. It's just fun. It's my second favorite single from her period. I only like "Say It Right" more.

Good song, but I liked it more then than now.
Part of the reason it didn't do so well in the US is because they announced it as the second single, weren't promoting it or pushing it at radio, and then switched to "Say It Right" while it was still climbing.

This is a fun track but it hasn't aged well at all for me.

This is still amazing and one of my favourite songs from her honestly <3 Anyway, no music video in the OP? Regarding its release in the US, I don't think it was announced properly as a single there, despite it was the obvious choice since it was the lead single in Europe. I mean, I'm kind of sure her label (Geffen, at that time) wanted to maximize "Promiscuous" longevity in the charts for YE accolades, so they were holding the release of any follow-up singles, despite some radio stations began to spin this there. As Jazzy mentioned, it was climbing in the charts (1) with radio support, but without an impacting date/official announcement from her label, when they decided to go for "Say It Right" instead, killing the possibilites to go further. Personally, this was a bad move from them because there was a good reception for the track and I would love this to have the same, or even better, success it had in Europe. Also, I'm not too sure about this, but I think her label never intended to push "Maneater" as the second single in the US and "Say It Right" was their pick for the very beginning. (1) It reached at #16 on the Hot 100 and I think it peaked at #7 on the US iTunes. Not too sure about the latter though.

Love this song! Definitely my favorite Nelly Furtado track. I always liked this one way more than Promiscuous and Say It Right. Shame they botched the single release here and it was overshadowed by those other two (which are still good in their own right).

What Danja did to this was AMAZING! I mean the drums were so hard that the speaker caught on fire during the making of the track. Probably still my favorite track off the album and up there with one of my favorite productions of all time. The transitions throughout are just everything. The remix is equally amazing with one of Wayne's best guest verses.

Listening to this song makes me feel so bada**.
It gets me so pumped up, and the chorus is amazing, it really makes the song what it is.

To me, Peter Rauhofer's remix is hotter than the original.

The chorus >>>>>>>
Promiscuous, Maneater & Say It Right is the greatest 1-2-3 singles punch ever, she was on fire during the Loose era.
I don't understand why radio didn't support Maneater in the US.

This was a good song. Love the 80s sound of it. And yeah, that chorus is great.

They handled it so terribly in the US, it could have been huge here too

Yet another example of an amazing song not doing as well in the US as it did internationally. Loved this back and the day and still do now.

Maneater flopping in the US was strange. It should have been huge.

This is actually a decent song and I prefer it over the bigger hit "Promiscuous Girl". I heard a mashup combining this song and Phil Collins & Phillip Bailey's 1985 hit "Easy Lover" and they meshed well together.

This song was without a doubt a career defining worldwide hit for Nelly Furtado, And this is an iconic bop and everything from her catchy vocals to the killer chorus was and still is simply awesome. Just an all around great song to represent Halloween!
