I'm rooting for this and I hope "Nonsense" keeps climbing and stays atop for multiple weeks of course There's been too much competition regularly to allow songs to get multiple weeks (well...beyond 2) this year, though Carrie was able to pull out 3 just by keeping Smallpools back that long. That said, "Aquaman" certainly stands a good chance of getting quite a few up there. But then again, so too does the song that's coming up fast behind it... Despite the six-notch jump this week, Madeon might have to settle for a slower, but steadier rise up. The field is insanely competitive - there's lots of songs right now that are just so good that they're worthy of future Top 10 status, and the four sitting right below the Top 10 are just the first place to start. That said, "Nonsense" should, probably, stick around for much of the summer, so it's got plenty of time. :)

Well, the 'multiple weeks atop' thing wasn't too literal. I mean, as long as "Nonsense" will have a good longevity and it breaks into the Top 10 in the near future, I would be happy. Obviously, if it reaches atop, it would be even better!

I don't know why but I can't really get into "Tom's Diner" - I don't think Brit is working for me :(
"King" goes top 10 hurray! and look at Walk the Moon holding on!
Major plummet for Charli - yikes.

I toldya I'd get caught up eventually. Here's this week's chart, as Emily Hearn tries for a fourth week on top... @jakelmmrs44: Tove Lo reaches Top 10 territory. ♛ The Manticore ☯: Markus Schulz up two (twice!). Juan Carlos: So is Madeon (once ;) ). Flip: And Tinie Tempah. Mikey: And Ella. surfy: Carly Rae up three. @drag27: So are Giorgio/Britney. Zeebz: Rihanna up one. Albie: Good and bad news for Years & Years this week. Daryl the Beryl: What do I tag you for now...? Mike's Top 40 For the Week Ending: May 30, 2015 DROPPERS:Reba McEntire - Going Out Like That (from 37) Taylor Swift - Style (from 32) Getting the New Picks of the Week out of the way first, since there's only two. Given the chart above, one should be obvious. ;) Also, my chart talk this week is going to be a bit lengthy... NEW PICKS OF THE WEEK:Zedd featuring Troye Sivan - Papercut (#40) Years & Years - ShineEmily Hearn proved to have better-than-expected staying power over the past couple of weeks. I originally thought of her managing two weeks on top before giving way; instead she powered her way to a third. What probably helped is that the song's melody fit the mood that I'd been feeling over the past couple weeks. :( This week, however, she gives way, dropping to #4. And the suspicion of bad news for Walk the Moon has borne fruit - Wiz and Charlie leapfrog them and jet to #1. Of note: This is only Wiz's second chart appearance here, but he is now 2-for-2 - "Payphone" spent four weeks at #1 back in 2012. (That, in turn, gives him a tall act to follow now!) With the song having topped the Billboard Hot 100 dated this same weekend (as opposed to June 6), this brings up this chart figure: The last song to top my chart that had also topped the Hot 100, was "Diamonds", back in the beginning of 2013 (shortly before my chart's Top 20 era came to an end - technically, my chart expanded the first week of 2013, but the chart era that that sprung from ended in February). "Diamonds" is also the last song to also be ruling the Hot 100 when it topped my chart, the week of December 8, 2012. (Andy Grammer's "Miss Me" then took over for two weeks, before Rihanna returned to the top - by which point she'd lost her Hot 100 crown.) The last song to top my chart that also topped both the Hot 100 and the CHR chart, was "Somebody That I Used to Know", which didn't get there until the week of July 7, 2012 - after it had been knocked off the top of both those charts. The last song to top my chart while ruling both the others simultaneously was "Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.)", the week of August 27, 2011. With "See You Again" firmly in control at CHR at the moment, it becomes the first song to top my chart that's also concurrently topping the other two. Granted, thanks to what just happened on Billboard, that won't be the case for next week, but who knows what may happen down the road? :) It may return to that summit...it's unclear how long it will last atop the Pop chart... And what of Walk the Moon? Despite being leapfrogged this week, don't count them out of still eventually reaching the top here. Other up-and-comers: Ella Henderson, up to #3, Young Summer, #5 and still kicking, and Carly Rae, up to #6. Exciting times ahead as we move into June... On the other end of the spectrum: Moko's run out of steam over the past couple weeks, and this week she ties for the week's Biggest Drop, down 10. Also running out of gas: Jason DeRulo at #17 and Years & Years in their third week at #10. I'm also not sure how much longer BØRNS will continue to chug upward, either. The Script, meanwhile, are close to seeing their first Top 10 since the tail end of my chart's Top 20 era, when "Hall of Fame" reached #3. It'd also be their sixth, overall. Lady Antebellum, after getting jumped over last week, turn the tables right back, as one of three songs to jump 4 notches this week (27-23). Incidentally, the other two, "Nothing But a Heartbeat" (31-27), and "Talking Body" (12-8), are also leapfroggers - which is indicative of the continued tough times on the chart. Two weeks ago saw Markus Schulz debut independently of his ongoing collaboration as part of New World Punx. With both songs going up, this marks the first time ever that my chart has seen two songs going up from an artist both solo and as part of a group/duo. (Technically both songs qualify as "collaborations", but you know what I mean... ;) ) Two weeks ago also saw the debut of "Tom's Diner", giving Britney her 12th chart appearance. That places her in a tie with Lady Gaga for third-most chart appearances. There's a three-way tie for second with 13, held by Pink, Taylor Swift (whose 13th just left us this week), and Rihanna (currently on her 13th). The leader, still well ahead, is Avril Lavigne, with 18. Jess Glynne's debut as part of "Not Letting Go" last week also marked her first chart appearance since her pair of dueling features last year. Fitting, given that it was nearly a year ago to the date that those two both debuted here. The teens-20s-30s-all the way to 70s artist chain nearly snapped this week with the departure of Reba McEntire. Stepping into the 60s position in her place: 67-year-old Kate Pierson, coming in at #39. Lastly: One of the more unique chart records is also broken this week, courtesy of the week's other debut. Up until now, the record for the longest song to chart had been held by Armin van Buuren's "Don't Want to Fight Love Away" (featuring Cindy Alma), which clocks in at a fairly lengthy 6:06. That record is shattered this week - and then some! - by...who else? Another DJ! Anton Zaslavski, better known as Zedd, scores his third chart appearance with the 7:23 long "Papercut", featuring Troye Sivan. And...that should do it for this week's chart talk. Until next week... :) -Mike

This is a strange chart week for my usual MO of tagging, soooo... @jakelmmrs44 Zeebz Mikey Daryl the Beryl Juan Carlos ♛ The Manticore ☯ Flip surfy @drag27 AlbieMike's Top 40 For the Week Ending: June 6, 2015 DROPPERS:Moko - With You (from 35) Ellie Goulding - Love Me Like You Do (from 31) Wiz and Charlie spend a second week at #1, and the competition is heating up... "Aquaman" holds at #2 for the fifth week in a row. Three songs come to mind that have done this. During the summer of 2003, Jewel did it with "Intuition" - having to wait five weeks behind Frankie J's "Don't Wanna Try" (which was in an 8-week run at the top). She would ultimately oust him, and snag a pair of weeks at the top herself. The following summer, Britney Spears did it with "Everytime" - having to wait five weeks behind Switchfoot's "Meant to Live" (which was also adding up to 8 weeks on top). Unlike Jewel, however, she would not take the final step. And, in 2012, Neon Trees did it behind two different #1 songs. They shot up to #2 as Katy Perry was spending her second week on top with "Wide Awake", then Demi Lovato leapfrogged them and spent four weeks at the summit. They would then unseat her and spend two weeks on top themselves - enroute to becoming the biggest song of the year! With Ella Henderson holding steady at #3 for the second straight week, and Carly Rae now up to #4, this battle is heating up fast. With Carly Rae jumping over Young Summer, however, she's likely peaked right where she is, at #5. Still, that's a good deal higher than I thought she'd have gone initially, and she's had a good run up to now. :) "King" indeed drops out of the Top 10 this week, but the Top 10 does not find itself completely free of electronic dance, as Allertz storms into the Top 10 in their place. As I mentioned last month, there will certainly be more where they both came from. Speaking of which... "Somewhere to Run" has been that song all week - you know...that song that gets stuck in your head and it just stays there. That's why Krewella shoots up to #22 this week, leaving a path of destruction in their wake as the week's Biggest Mover. With a jump like that, they should have no trouble besting the #18 standing of "Live For the Night" within a week or two. And...that should do it for this week's chart talk. NEW PICKS OF THE WEEK:Embody featuring A*M*E - Give Me Your LoveJohn Newman - Come and Get It ( VIDEO, which actually shows him with a sexy attitude) Jennifer Hudson - I Still Love You (another one whose video I definitely have to recommend!) Until next week... :) -Mike

And here's the chart from this past week: @jakelmmrs44 Zeebz Mikey Daryl the Beryl Juan Carlos ♛ The Manticore ☯ Flip surfy @drag27 AlbieMike's Top 40 For the Week Ending: June 20, 2015 DROPPER:The Zac Brown Band - Homegrown (from 30) NEW PICKS OF THE WEEK:Bean - WildfireJosh Dorr - Rocket (Track 5) Yes, Walk the Moon hit #1 two weeks ago. Last week, they held at #1 - but, "See You Again" has held steady at #2. Expect a fight for this coming week's chart... Ella Henderson's run out of steam; after three weeks at #3, she steps back to #4. Displacing her is Carly Rae, who matches the #3 showing for "Good Time" with Owl City from 2012. And she's still got some fight left in her... Notice how the entire Top 13 on this week's chart are all songs that have charted for 10-13 weeks? You can attribute that to an unusually strong crop of songs hitting the chart in the early weeks of Spring (March 28 - April 18, to be exact). While some, such as this week's Top 2, have also benefited from especially fast rises up the chart, the others have all shown their hit prowess in rising to the upper reaches of the heap. From there, the math is at once both simple and unfortunate: With this many songs, it takes up more space, and despite some fair movement this week, the next few weeks to come may not look so rosy. In short, it's not that lower songs will be struggling - oh, no. There's just no room to move upward, not without forcibly pushing your way up - and many of the lower songs right now just aren't able to do that. One who is trying, though, is this week's Biggest Mover "Papercut", up six to #28. And...that should do it for this week's chart talk. Until next week... :) -Mike

Here's this past week's chart, complete with a debut whose video marks a certain occasion quite spectacularly. :) And did Walk the Moon manage to hold on to #1 for a third straight week, or are Wiz and Charlie seeing #1 again? @jakelmmrs44 Zeebz Mikey Daryl the Beryl Juan Carlos ♛ The Manticore ☯ Flip surfy @drag27 AlbieMike's Top 40 For the Week Ending: June 27, 2015 DROPPERS:Giorgio Moroder featuring Kylie Minogue - Right Here, Right Now (from 40) Fancy Reagan - Knock Me Out (from 30) Wiz and Charlie return to #1 for their third week, but look out! Carly Rae Jepsen sets a new personal best for herself as "I Really Like You" moves up to #2. You better believe she wants that top spot! With Prince Royce moving up to #5, the Furious 7 soundtrack continues to write chart history here, becoming the first album ever to see two singles charting in the Top 5 at once. With "See You Again" already a #1 smash, will "My Angel" follow in its footsteps? Meanwhile, yet another act have their sights set on a #1 smash: The Script, who've come close twice before. In 2011, they took "For the First Time" to #2, and in 2012, they and Will.I.Am took "Hall of Fame" to #3. Maybe the third time will be the charm? Not much impressive movement this week, though The Great Lake Swimmers push their way to #8, forcing Twenty One Pilots and Allertz to each step back one. And...that should do it for this week's chart talk. NEW PICKS OF THE WEEK:Kacey Musgraves - Dime Store CowgirlJasmine Thompson - AdoreLeona Lewis - Essence of MeZara Larsson - Lush LifeLawrence Taylor - Waiting For Your LoveJason DeRulo - CheyenneUntil next week... :) -Mike

@jakelmmrs44 Zeebz Mikey Daryl the Beryl Juan Carlos ♛ The Manticore ☯ Flip surfy @drag27 AlbieMike's Top 40 For the Week Ending: July 4, 2015 DROPPERS:Years & Years - King (from 40) BØRNS - Electric Love (from 33) Wiz & Charlie hold on and score their fourth week on top. Carly Rae holds steady at #2, but with new contenders moving into place right below them, this region is certainly heating up! One who will not be giving it a go is Prince Royce, who as it turns out peaked at #5 last week. With 15-20 all holding in place this week, and the next seven below them all bulleted, we'll be seeing some stiff times ahead on the chart, with regions varying week to week. This region should see some slight relief next week with Ella Henderson falling, and then Prince Royce and Walk the Moon faling to that area next. Actually, look to see a series of Top 10 peaks then falls over the coming month. And...that should do it for this week's chart talk. NEW PICKS OF THE WEEK: (audios to be edited in shortly) Freddy's Dilemma - Only on a Saturday NightJanet Jackson - No SleeepBreathe Carolina & APEK - Anywhere But HomeBreaking Benjamin - Angels FallRobin Thicke - Morning SunYears & Years - FoundationGrades - KingAudien featuring Lady Antebellum - Something BetterWith regards to Years & Years, there's a chance that "Shine", which debuts this week, may not last long - "Foundation" is a much more gripping track IMO. Until next week... :) -Mike

Let's preview this week's chart with a look at last week's Top 3. At #3 was the recent #1 smash from Wiz Khalifa and Charlie Puth, "See You Again". #2, was "Talking Body" by Tove Lo. And climbing to #1 for her first time was Carly Rae Jepsen with "I Really Like You". Who'll be #1 this week? Well, I can tell you who it's not going to be, as none of last week's Top 3 are currently residing in this week's Top 3! :o What happened? Only one way to find out... :) @jakelmmrs44 Zeebz Mikey Daryl the Beryl Juan Carlos ♛ The Manticore ☯ Flip surfy @drag27 AlbieMike's Top 40 For the Week Ending: July 18, 2015 DROPPERS:Young Summer - Severing Ties (from 40) Rihanna - American Oxygen (from 38) Last week, Carly Rae managed to reach #1 for her first time. This week, it's The Script's turn to shine, as they nab their first #1 song with "Man on a Wire". And just look at how that shakes out - last week's Top 3 all fall to make way for last week's #7-4 all cruising up three notches. Which of the other three contenders will manage to hold on until they can hit #1? This is definitely a polarized chart week, with some areas of the chart seeing quite a bit of action, while others see absolutely no action at all! There's two six-song blocks - #37-32 and #13-8 - that don't move an inch. Others, such as the 20s and the Top 7, are very active this week. There's also a song new to the Top 20, "Not Letting Go", which is this week's Biggest Mover, up six to #18. And, this week's two chart entries are both return stories. Laura Doggett and Alice Jemima return at #39 after a week away, and Breathe Carolina score their second chart hit with the week's only debut at #40. The other was, obviously, "Blackout", which had an unusually long run for a low-peaker, spending 12 weeks on the (still-Top 20) chart in 2012 while only reaching #14. Their new song, collaborating with APEK on "Anywhere But Home"...doesn't look like it's going to be destined for a similar fate. ;) And...that should do it for this week's chart talk. NEW PICKS OF THE WEEK:Tom Ferry featuring A-Sho - Out of SightMartin Garrix Vs. Matisse & Sadko - Break Through the SilenceUntil next week... :) -Mike
