I'm guessing the single has to be doing somewhat good because it seems Kip finally has gotten the go-ahead for the new album!! I don't wanna jump to conclusions but he's been tweeting about it for the past couple days... We'll find out the name and HOPEFULLY release date in just a few short days. Looks like it's gonna be called "Wild Ones" based off of what has been revealed so far!!! Oh happy day!

I always find it interesting when singles struggle and don't make it on to the album, Young Love & Dirt Road here, just like I find it interesting when a song is carried over to other albums, Matt Kennon with "The Call" and, if info is correct, "Are You With Me?" for Easton's new album.

If this is true, there may be another explanation for Easton Corbin. There's an EDM version of "Are You With Me?" by Lost Frequencies that currently sits at #20 on the iTunes world chart. There's more info on this in the "Baby Be My Love Song" thread.

This one seems to have slowed a bit ... any chart experts have a more educated update?

This one seems to have slowed a bit ... any chart experts have a more educated update? "I'm To Blame" has slowed down some over recent weeks. It gained 105 spins and 380k in audience on MB this past week and has gained 1.7 million in total audience the past three weeks, but its average audience gained over the past five weeks is just under 550k, so Kip's song has gradually been chugging along like this for quite some time. Top 20 to top 15 seems to be the likely peak for "I'm To Blame".

Haven't been hearing it often but for the past couple days I've at least heard it once a day. This song needs to pick up some steam yet again!!

This song is awesome! He just released another new song from the new album called "Wild Ones", which is the name of the album as well. It's a great song too!

I doubt this can find its way to the top 10 (who knows these days though, lol) but luckily for Kip and UMG, it will allow his album to get released. "I'm To Blame" has just not had enough gains the past few weeks to make me think this one will last too much longer as Kip's song has gained just 3.5 million in total audience over the past five weeks and is up 180 spins and 500k this week. The sales have been mediocre the whole way up the chart and its still outside the all-genre top 200.
I am flat out sick of this song as I've heard it so many times over the past 12-16 weeks or so. The Highway, WYRK and Taste of Country Nights have played it to death and I just can't bear to hear it anymore. I'll be thrilled when this song goes away and Kip releases a new single.

Totally agreed. If it's getting "so many spins" then why is it not gaining??? Nashville's spinning it a decent amount...certainly more now than ever before.
Also, Kip's PRE ORDER album got released yesterday at midnight. You preorder and instantly get two songs off the album - I'm To Blame and Wild Ones, like 45devour said. Well within 12 hours it hit #1 and was #5 on the all genre chart. That's really impressive. So happy that this album is FINALLY being released..only a couple weeks to go!! And here's to I'm To Blame continuing to stay on the charts (especially now with the actual release of the album...) Hoping so at least. Would be awesome if he proved everyone wrong; and I think he will when everyone hears this highly anticipated sophomore album.

Nashville's spinning it a decent amount...certainly more now than ever before It's gaining (as I mentioned before with it gaining 3.5 million in audience over the past five weeks and 500k this week, with one MB day remaining) -- it's just not blowing anyone away with its gains. I've heard it so many times just because of the stations I listened to -- everyone is different though -- some stations might only have Kip's song in light rotation, or you might be listening to one of the three stations that haven't added "I'm To Blame." WSIX in Nashville has spun "I'm To Blame" 26 times this past week, which is medium rotation while WKDF in Nashville has spun it 27 times, also medium rotation.

You have to remember, too, that the charts are fluid, in a sense. So while some stations may have this in high rotation already (Sabre's, for instance), some stations may be reducing its spins, or may not have added it, or are keeping it in low-to-medium rotation for the time being. Literally the only place I've heard this is on The Highway, and my husband says one local station is playing it, though he hasn't heard it recently.
Reading this thread today it hit me that this has been at radio for 6 months and is just NOW breaking into the top 20. It baffles me a bit. This certainly isn't the most amazing sont ever, but it's definitely more radio friendly than his previous two offerings. I know it's not selling well but I just can't quite believe that radio moved on from Kip THIS quickly.
Regardless, I'm looking forward to his album in a few weeks, and I'm glad this song is at least getting them album released.

Literally the only place I've heard this is on The Highway, and my husband says one local station is playing it, though he hasn't heard it recently. Right. The problem sometimes is that some stations who have supported a song for a while might decrease its spins at a certain point, while others are just adding it. Usually the stations decreasing the spins are a bigger blow then the stations adding the song (KKBQ in Houston with "Country" is a prime example), since those stations are likely to start the song off in light rotation, even most spins allocated to overnight hours. Kip's song is not alone as many singles have this kind of chart run. In the end, it's getting his album finally out, so far that I'm grateful even though I was never a huge fan of "I'm To Blame."

I know it's not selling well but I just can't quite believe that radio moved on from Kip THIS quickly. I don't think radio has moved on from Kip. I fully expect him to score a couple of big hits from the album. The single choices have been baffling, that's all. Even this one. It's radio-friendly, but I'm not surprised it's been such a slow climber (and will likely be a top 15 hit at best). It just never sounded like a big hit to me (like most of the tracks from his debut album did), and it's sold very poorly. So yeah, I'm not surprised that this one never really caught on. I'm glad, though, that it's done well enough to warrant the album's release.

Interesting post from Kip here. His album is out in just a few weeks so I doubt the Jewel collaboration is on it (unless the photo he posted was from a while back), and the same goes for Jewel's album, which is out in September. So I guess I'm not sure if this collaboration will be on either of their albums, or if they were just writing/recording together, perhaps a song to just kinda keep in their back pockets?

They wrote a bunch of songs about a year ago. He's not featured in her new album, but I'm guessing she'll be on his. Is Kip single? Something tells me there's more to these 2...

Yeah, he's single. I don't think there's a collab between the two on his album either. I mean it comes out in 2 weeks and this is the first I've heard.

On the track list on iTunes, she isn't listed and I feel like she would most certainly have a "featuring" nod if she was on a track...maybe it's something they're working on for his next album (I've seen an interview with Brett James where he says they had planned out multiple albums for Kip moving forward).

Yeah, I don't think Jewel's on the album anywhere unless it's a deluxe version thing perhaps? Although I agree that it'd probably be listed as a feature on that track listing if it were there as well. I know the two are friends and she joined him for a couple songs when he played the Ryman last year – maybe if nothing else, more live appearances are in the works?

I believe what they have up is already a deluxe version, though they could do something like Brantley Gilbert recently did, re-releasing the album with a couple new tracks.

Yeah, they already have a deluxe version going into this era with 3 more songs on it that Kip had to REALLY push for.
Do you have any idea which Brett James interview that the statement about "multiple albums" was said, @kentucky25? I've love to read/listen to it.
Kip is a lyrical genius. Honestly. His single's lyrics are absolutely nothing of what his actual album tracks are, especially lyric wise. He's said time and time again that he considers himself a songwriter before singer, performer, anything. We were chatting about different songs, his writing habits, etc and it was brought up about how many he has written. He told me that to date (and this was a while ago...2-3 years ago maybe) that he has written between 500-600 songs and that he tries to write 1 a day. Unreal. But anyways, I can certainly see how they are thinking down the road about multiple albums and I would be really interested to see exactly what all was said.
That's great that they're talking about all that in the future, but for right now I think they need to concentrate on picking out better single choices for Kip and marketing plans to actually promote these singles or they won't be putting any more albums together. lol. Love him to pieces but it's the truth.

While it's great Kip is getting an album out for his sake. I'm unconvinced I'm To Blame is gonna move any higher on the chart. The sales haven't been good (still aren't.) Also looking at the songs around it I can see Old Dominion and Lady A passing him. Kip isn't nearly gaining like those guys are and well I can see this at most sticking around for a light Top 15 peak.

Based off hearing the sound check thing, Wild Ones, and Backseat, I'm gonna predict this will be the best album of 2015 by a rather long shot. LOVE what I've heard.
