Great pure pop ballad without any gimmicks; it's Madonna being authentic and the result pays off! Catchy as this is, it's not going to be a hit though lmao.
That said, if Ariana Grande or Katy Perry released it would blow up. If Lady Gaga released it she'd have her much needed comeback. Hell, even someone like Tove Lo could blow up with this.
But not Madonna. She's done at radio! Nothing can be done.

Good song, I definitely like it more than the final version of Living For Love.

One of the album highlights and definitely the best choice for second single. Just an amazing song, I hope it gets an awesome video.

Apparently confirmed on Stern today that this is next. Really like this, but I don't think it'll be a hit either.

Stunning track, the video will be shot next week with Jonas Akerlund. Cant wait for this.

Hit potential is irrelevant. Of course the 56 year-old Madonna Louise Ciccone isn't going to have a hit with this. Musically it sounds kind of like Ray of Light Madonna, but she sounds lifeless (like she does on the rest of the album).

She sounds divine on this- and the live performances have been just as strong. It's just an epic track.
If Akerlund is directing, there's potential for a great clip.

This is the best song she has done in many years to me. I'm kind of torn with the choice because I wanted it to be a single, but I also don't want to see such a good song flop.

This is DOA unless Interscope pushes it like crazy, and even then a big hit would be an achievement.

Using it in a TV show or film would raise awareness, but, yah, otherwise, its potential is severely limited, just because of circumstance.
If she makes a spectacular, buzzworthy video, that could generate some level of interest, but radio is too much of a challenge.

Strange that this song would not be a HOTAC or AC smash…. This would have been a big hit for her when she still had radio support.

It's very inspiring everytime you talk about the mighty M.

Ghosttown has the potential to smash. It's a single that transcend all ages , gernes, and genders. Her team needs to be behind it like a freight train. Non stop full throttle promotion with iiheart radio deal, itune banner, performances, radio talk shows, and linked to a commercial etc. why not? Miracles do happen and this song is so damn good to not aggressively push it.

Agreed,Her Team must work agressively at pushing and getting commitments from HOTAC.
Once the video is complete go to VH1 and have it placed into GUNGHO category to help market to HOTAC.
If she doesn't. This too will not succeed, but let us wait her team may having something up their sleeve.

I like the song but I've never felt it's modern sounding at all. It's really not that far removed from a Bedtime Stories or Ray of Light ballad. I can't see US radio going for it.

This is probably my favorite single from her since Music.
Her vocal on this is about as good as we can expect her to sound on this type of material I guess now. It would have been so disappointing after ROL, but by this point I've heard her worse.
She said on Howard Stern today that she's shooting the video next week.

Kinda surprised to see the vocal criticisms, I thinks he sounds fantastic on this. Especially after hearing her lifeless vocals on much of HC and MDNA.
As for her getting a hit, not gonna happen IMO. I'm just glad they're picking the right singles and promoting.

I would probably like this more if someone else was singing. It doesn't really sound like she's feeling anything she's singing on the verses, she really does sound lifeless. Maybe it's the digital effects making her sound worse.

I'm just glad they're picking the right singles and promoting. Agreed. There's a select number of songs off Rebel Heart that she sounds lovely on, and this is definitely one of them. IMO This won't be a big hit, but I really really want it to get some attention somehow. I've loved it and wanted it released ever since it came out last December; to me it's just as beautiful as "Live To Tell," "This Used To Be My Playground" and the rest of the ballads of Madonna's peak-era.

Sorry but nothing can touch LTT and to a slightly lesser degree, TUTBMP... There's this intangible quality to them that suits her voice so well. Interesting how divided people are on how great/lifeless she sounds on Ghosttown.

I just played it again. I'm of the opinion she hasn't sounded this good in a loooooong time. My only criticism, and it's a bit of a stretch, is that the song itself is a bit towards overproduced... It's a bit too perfect and calculated. But, really, a great pop song.

Even those who are admittedly not Madonna Fans love 'Ghosttown'
In addition to the universal praise from the professional critics
who hail the track.
The track is now #187 on Itunes

This won't do anything significant. Surprised LFL was as popular as it was to begin with!
