Well, performing "Ghosttown" may only do so much for its sales, and she may know that- and she's not letting the fact that "Ghostown" is the latest single dictate what she performs. Maybe she just wants the video to speak for itself, too.
She also probably wants to present something new (though unlike live "Ghosttown" performances, BIM probably will feature album vocals hehe)

GT would have seen a small spike in sales as well as the album, but I think BIM will help album sales more. Would be nice to see GT debut on the Hot 100, at least one song from the album right? but I don't think Jimmy would have made a difference with GT.

Her legacy was sealed decades ago, but always good for those late to the game to take note. lol I'm not late to the game, I've been a fan since the 1990s I meant that we can safely say that Madonna's legacy is sealed after this damn PERFECT video, she never disappoints

I'm sure the "BIM" performance was great (I plan to watch it on Hulu tonight) but not performing your current single the day after the video is released is really silly and not good for business. There are still plenty of people who have not heard "Ghosttown" yet and Jimmy's audience would have given more exposure.

On Today's Airplay Chart 4/10/2015 On Today's Mediabase 'AC' Airplay Madonna's 'Ghosttown' is still holding @ No.15 (+10 spins) Please keep in mind everything in the Top10 is an establish hit from Top40 so this is good.spins keep increasing! On Today's Mediabase 'HOTAC' Airplay Chart Madonna's 'Ghosttown' is still holding @ No.41 (+5 spins) Looks she will move into HOTAC Top40 this weekend, finally! All is good. As long as daily spins continue to increase it's being played more than last week! UPDATE: Z100 is playing their daily spin of 'GHOSTTOWN' right Now! 12:35pm est America!

I think BIM did more for the album than GT would have, but that's speculation. But looking at the crowd when she was performing, they were into it and as a whole responded better to that song than they would have to Ghosttown.

"BIM" can have it's day if its the third single as expected. She could have pre-filmed "BIM" to air the next day or something if she wanted to do both.

Yes, but they wouldn't have been able to dance crazy like they did if she was singing GT. Trust me, I have been wanting Madonna to make a Hot 100 appearance since Girl Gone Wild, even if it was #100, but I have so given up. The charts have changed so much. So if this helps overall sales, then I'm fine with it. I agree, hit singles are nice, but I don't think they are going to go into overtime to make that happen.

I do think that they could have mentioned Ghost Town being the current single and showed a clip of the video at least.

I do think you are right. Look at the impact the show has had on BIM. It so far has blasted up to 142 on iTunes (from not even being on the chart) and GT is still sitting at 181, up only 20 spots since the initial video premiere.

Well I think GT was in the 600's or something like that before the video came out.

Of course. I was just saying that since that initial bump from the video, it has only gone up 20 spots. I think some sort of feature or clip would have helped on Jimmy Fallon. They didn't even make mention of it.

I am thrilled with all she is doing, trust me. I have worshipped Madonna since I was 13 (45 now). I just wanted a mention of GT because it is her current single that is getting a good reception.

Her team is playing with the versatility of the album as of current promotion. Ghosttown had it's performance moments on national TV ( ELLEN, IHEART) Plus the video premier etc. It was a smart move to do something different this time. End of discussion.

BIM had started climbing again, after Fallon mentioned it on the prior evening's show. It had gotten to the 700s before last night's show.
"Ghosttown" is about to pass 1.5 million worldwide views- at least the video premiere was handled better than that of LFL (hitting Vevo mid-week, with no exclusivity to an app).

well at least Ghosttown would have entered the HOT 100 had she performed it on Fallon. The sales bump from the video and the performance as well as the streaming from the video could have given it the boost it needed. But well at least we saw her performing a new song live

I think the goal is to show as much of the album as possible to push album sales…we all know singles will not have sustained sales without sustained promotion which is normally through fairly heavy radio play. Those things are out of her hands, however promoting the album and showing what it has to offer is more in her hands.

Sgr isn't making money selling albums or singles. She needs to sell your tickets. BIM is a great way to get people excited and show another facet of what they'll see on the tour. GT on Fallon wouldn't have done that.
