If LFL couldn't even hit H100 with video release and Grammy performance, this certainly won't. This will probably barely get enough plays to hit Top 100 on Pop. Better to focus on getting the #1 album away from Empire. The song is just OK, certainly not radio-worthy. M needs to schedule a cameo on Empire next season and let Timbaland get her a hit. The song is wonderful, the notion that what pop actually does play is better than this is preposterous. It's laughable even.

I'll try make believe that last sentence was total sarcasm, silliness and/or being under the influence of something pretty potent.

I actually agree for CHR. That's her best bet there. The beat and production are pretty damn hot and current. ++1! NO idea what they were thinking w/ LFL (imo one of her worst lead singles ever lol) Def. waay down there with AL and GMAYL. Yet, the two latter songs were so bad they were kind of entertaining and I actually gave then the time of day. LFL was just BORING. I'm def. a fan and many, many fans *insisted it was a hit...even some saying its a smash LOL but I instantly heard the polar opposite and omg did I end up being right (unfortunately). Wont go into why but GT is everything LFL isn't but feel w/ an artist like Madonna its ALL about the 1st single. Once it flops radioa nd the public move on ONLY cause of her age..simple as that. Besides GT, the demo of Rebel Heart were/is stellar! Major, major F up that the 'demo' version didn't make the cut. The 'finished' version has 0 shot of being a hit. It was neutered and reduced to lifeless, barely album filler. Well I still love LFL and insist it was far and away the best choice for Europe. The US, probably not. But I don't expect anything to do well in Europe if LFL didn't. It was tailor made for those charts. We'll never know how much the botched release screwed it up there though. Agree about Rebel Heart. That ended up being a disaster seeing what they did to that compared to the demos.

There is a rumor, that there will be an iHeart company-wide initiative for the song starting next week. You think she was going to perform at the iHeart Radio awards and not reap some benefits, other than the performance exposure? This will start getting a lot of spins on Monday! Mark my words! Probably in the weekend too. Come to think of it, it was a Friday the 13th just four weeks ago when a big New York station gave Living for Love a spin seemingly out of nowhere, and the next day dozens more stations started spinning the song. Sound familiar? If some sort of deal is in the works, I guess I am happy for strong support of a second single, but I am wary of the potential for a fast rise and fall, not allowing the song the time needed to catch on with listeners naturally. I would hope that with AC and/or HotAC, a few more stations might opt to continue spinning after the preordained period this time around, creating a more lasting impression on the charts.

This is a fantastic single for her on so many levels.
I also think this has sales potential.
In retrospect this probably would have been the better choice for lead single but this release has not been typical. They can treat this like a lead single kind of thing now.

Madonna s appearance on the Jonathan Ross show is finally being screened tonight on National UK tv . She will sing TWO songs live , and it looks like the whole show is devoted to her ( normally has around 4 guests ) . I'm sure he will make a joke of her falling over at the Brits ....

I think the main difference between Ghosttown and LFL is that GT sounds like a credible radio song whereas LFL was 100% cheese. Someone said LFL sounded like a Cher 90's gay anthem... Yes it does. Ghosttown I can imagine being sung by some young contemporary acts...

Please..Please stop bashing LFL,there is nothing wrong with that song!!
THe critics hailed it and for the most part people like it as well.
The problem is that she is 56..56..56..56..did you hear me?..56!
That is the issue not the music!
Dreadful songs are added all the time but they are performed by youngsters.
Another hard push is coming for Ghosttown,
this time we wont be surprised when the week is up and they drop it!
That would suck of course, nevertheless it is going
to be an emotional rollercoaster for sure next week, get ready!

I like LFL quite fine, but even when first listening to the initial six tracks, "Ghosttown" was my instant favorite.

Ghosttown I can imagine being sung by some young contemporary acts... Right. It sounds like something some 50 year old bear would sing, get drunk and dance to in the club after some twink turned him down... "I'm gonna carry on!! I'm not giving up!!! Love's gonna lift me up!!!!" That song sucks and is totally flat IMO, I can't believe so many people like it. The more I listen to her album the more I think "Rebel Heart" -in its demo form- would've done better as a lead single. Yes, the Avicii touch is obvious but that chorus bangs. That or "Ghosttown" would've been better leads IMO; I'm sure they'd have entered the Hot 100 at least, especially given the push LFL got.

The reality is that it is NOT something stations are going to add to their playlists. Again, I never said that radio is playing 'better,' but they are going to choose AG, TS, SG, EG, etc. over a new M song. That's just the way it is. Just like her last two hits - features mattered JT & NM. The singles without features? Well we know the results.

Oh, of course radio will choose to add the younger acts more so than the older ones, and play them at much higher levels. That's an unfortunate reality. Radio is ageist, sure, but, it goes hand in hand with the listening audience, overall, preferring the younger acts. If they actually gave music by the older acts a chance- depending on the song, of course- they may find themselves enjoying it.

This has started to explode on Italian radio and is top 10 ITunes there with a dark green update.
This is a great sign.

LFL is a solid solid song, I think it is a bit more niche but a good pop dance song….Ghosttown is a fantastic song with broad appeal so I do think it has more potential because it is the type of song even non Madonna fans who do not normally listen to her might stop and think that is pretty good.

^Well, if it get a shot at "taking off," it would need some kind of coordinated play- not hourly or anything, but enough stations putting it out there, to give it some exposure. Otherwise, radio isn't just going to add it on its own, and, in turn, listeners won't hear it.

I love some of the revisionist history in this thread. Everyone was practically falling over themselves here with excitement when LFL leaked and saying how it had the most hit potential of any of her songs since Hung Up. Fast forward to now and people are claiming it was a joke of a single and never stood a chance in hell. Lol.

To me LFL is miles better than Ghosttown but as many said Ghosttown has a broader appeal and the general public may like it

Me either….the quality of a song has nothing to do with chart success in my opinion and for Madonna at this point in her career that is even more true.

The calm before the storm - today "Ghosttown" received spins at five CHR/Top 40, Hot AC, and AC stations. It looks as though many more stations will be joining in over the next couple of days. I will try to keep up with the madness by logging new stations here as they jump on board.

What most people though is LFL was way better than GAYL which is basically true.
I think Madonna has more chances to have a hit with a ballad right now than with a dance track, but that's my opinion
