Hopefully it'll get to No.1 Up to #4 and #39 on the main chart. I don't know if she can overtake Bryson and Weeknd and Andra Day (whose album is on sale for $5.99) but top-5 for an indie project that dropped on a Sunday is a great look regardless.

She might can thanks to the Apple Music tweet. I'll keep my fingers crossed. She deserves it.

So I was right. This is definitely the best album of her career. I have no word, basically every song is awesome. This is the best album of the year so far imo

^^^^
I wouldn't say of her career. That title belongs to Moodring and Liberation. But it's slightly better than K.I.S.S. and far and beyond better than Sugar & Spice.

Is she going to the Grammys? Her manager/friend tweeted to this old tweet. *Fingers cross*

Fear of Flying Moodring/Liberation Smoove Jones Mýa Sugar & Spice
Definitely her most focused, conceptual album since Liberation.

Gotta give the others a chance lol. Already tried for Fear of Flying, Sugar & Spice and K.I.S.S., pointless albums. Fear of Flying is waaaaaay below the level of R&B back around 2000. I mean aside from Free this album is so whatever. K.I.S.S. is awful, even Cassie would do better. I actually think Sugar & Spice is not quite as bad as the other two, but still it's not good.

I really admire Mýa. This album is really polished and well produced. Her vocals shine on every track and the material doesn't sound instantly dated like on S&S or K.I.S.S., The promotional artwork is also really good, her calendars, etc. Overall such an example to other R&B girls who think middle of the road material and Derek Blanks-tier artwork is the way to go for an indie project.

I agree with what you said. In those projects defense though, I don't think Sugar & Spice was ever meant to be heard outside of Japan. LOL I definitely could tell she recorded it in her basement studio but it was decent it had a few great R&B tracks. K.I.S.S. was slightly more polished better but defintely lack poor production in some songs and had its share of fillers i.e. Break Your Neck, Evolve, etc. I think the Japan version was better than the U.S. version.

It's an ok interview. Sorta boring. Most interesting she said though is that she doesn't consider Smoove Jones an album but another boutique project before the main course and that is the last project.

Nah don't get me wrong, I liked Sugar (at least some of the tracks like Fallen pt. 2) but you can't deny it has aged badly, I won't talk about K.I.S.S. because I was never big on that style of pop-infused music to begin with. I'm happy for her right now but I wish she would get more opportunities to show her different talents. She's got all the makings of a superstar: she's a great singer, dancer and has good acting skills too. Plus, her beauty is breathtaking. Sure she'd be great in a musical or something broadway-related.

Listening to Smoove Jones now and I can say my money was well spent! ^^^^ I wouldn't say of her career. That title belongs to Moodring and Liberation. But it's slightly better than K.I.S.S. and far and beyond better than Sugar & Spice. I think Moodring is her best, but Fear of Flying is underrated by fans, imo. I mean, you didn't even mention it. Is it that bad? Maybe I need to listen to it again, but I remember loving so many songs on that album.

Um...I did mention Fear of Flying scroll up a bit and see my rankings. LOL Fear of Flying is my favorite album by her. I love Fear of Flying. I wouldn't call Fear of Flying as underrated as it's her most successful album to date. Fans tend to lean towards Moodring as their overall fans. Moodring and Liberation are 2nd for me.

I was specifically referring to the post I quoted. Now I see. Nice! I just rarely see Fear of Flying in the conversation when it comes to Mya's best work. I don't think it's her best, but I think it's full of "should've been hits." I think "That's Why I Wanna Fight" might be my favorite Mya song ever, lol. I also didn't know Fear of Flying was her biggest selling album. I always thought it was her debut.

Fear of Flying had some AMAZING moments but I thought it was pretty horrible overall. Her albums all have filler but that one had a lot of songs that were just bad, imo.
Moodring is definitely her best but my favorite is her debut. It's such a cute album.

FOF and Moodring both could've went several singles deep and would've generated her several top-10 hits. She had plenty of urban records with crossover appeal that they squandered. And Mýa is her best selling album (1.4m); FOF came close (1.2m).

Yeah Fear of Flying is her biggest selling album internationally. Domestically it's her debut. Rumor has it That's Why I Wanna Fight was suppose to be a single.

I initially didn't like it either except for the singles and few other songs. But as I played it more and more it grew on me and I could relate to the album.
