It's a shame this one is getting held back by country radio. If this one was getting top 10 or even top 5 airplay right now, I'd bet the sales would be through the roof. But country radio is scared to play something slightly different sounding :/ Ironically on my way into work this morning I had the random thought of wondering whatever happened to this song on radio. I then checked Pulse and saw your post lol. I can't tell you the last time I heard this on the radio...probably not since it got released. I'm not expecting it to do much and it's easily one of my least favorite songs on the album although I do respect the different sound it has on radio. After seeing Eric live earlier this year my pick for his next single is "That's Damn Rock & Roll." I didn't appreciate that song as much as I did until the live performance...he just kills it on the stage.I wish they would release that song to Mainstream Rock radio because I could see that one being a big hit over there. I don't know if I could see it doing much on Country radio though, as it seems a little too intense. I do think it's a good song though. If I had to bet, I'd say "Roller Coaster Ride" or "A Man Who Was Going To Die Young" would be the two main options at this point. I'd personally like to see the ladder get released, but it wouldn't surprise if they released something else at this point, since Eric has been known to release risky songs.

This song isn't moving up fast (and I never expected it to be a top 10, even with its impressive digital sales), but it looks like it's headed for a new peak of #18 on Monday's Billboard chart. "Cold One" stalled right at #20.
I absolutely love "That's Damn Rock & Roll", but I don't see them releasing it to country radio. I'm actually a bit surprised that they haven't released it to Rock radio yet, especially now that Zac Brown Band just had a big #1 over there (Heavy Is The Head). It doesn't cost near as much to promote a single to Rock radio, so I would think that one of Universal's non-Nashville-based labels could easily promote a rock song from Eric Church to Rock radio.
For the next single (at country), I think "Roller Coaster Ride" could do quite well. I know Luke Bryan had "Roller Coaster", but that was a little while ago now, and aside from their titles the 2 songs aren't similar at all. "Broke Record" could also work, as could "A Man Who Was Gonna Die Young" or even "Dark Side".

Right there with ya^ only kinda hit I can see is That's Damn Rock & Roll radio just needs to embrace it and it'd do well! Just listened the to whole album again and nothing really stood out other than maybe Roller Coaster Ride but even that feels like it lacks something..has he ever released a deluxe edition maybe like 2 extra bonus songs something fresh?

In its 12th week, it vaults 64-53 on the Hot 100.

Growing on me, but still find some of the lyrics a bit cringe-worthy and parts of his vocals annoying.

Really kind of amazed that this one is still going. I thought for sure it'd be done by now and peak somewhere around where "Cold One" did, but it seems like this just keeps moving along. It does have great sales (which honestly surprises me quite a bit), but it's definitely had a slower climb and I thought it was looking like it'd be a bit too polarizing to be much bigger than "Cold One."

Growing on me, but still find some of the lyrics a bit cringe-worthy and parts of his vocals annoying. I actually quite like the lyrics on this one. I think too many country songs beat around the bush when it comes to sex, and I appreciate that this one holds no punches and is very blatant. I love the line "Find out what that house is made of". I personally feel that line alone shows the passion being felt in this song. It's a sexual song that I think both the younger target demographic and adults can both appreciate it. The sales are really strong for this one, and I doubt it's causal Pop listeners who are buying this song. I'm hoping this can wait it out for the next couple of weeks where there will be some serious housecleaning. I'm thinking if it can wait 4 more weeks, Kenny, Kelsea, Carrie, most likely Tim and Easton, and possibly Brad can all be sent recurrent on Billboard. Sam Hunt will pass and Thomas Rhett could as well, but there's not too much immoderate heat behind it. I'm thinking top 15 is a good possibility if they can keep this one afloat with some at least moderate gains.

^^^ I don't like the lyrics "Sittin' on a bathroom sink" and "that old house is gonna be shakin'". The lyrics aren't Florida Georgia Line/Chase Rice bad but I find them quite awkward.

I like this a lot, much more than when it was first released. I'm ready for a new single though, and I really hope they try "A Man Who Was Gonna Die Young".

I can see "a" similarity, but not a striking resemblance. :) I like this a lot, much more than when it was first released. I'm ready for a new single though, and I really hope they try "A Man Who Was Gonna Die Young". I don't think this one is done yet (it did get a big boost from Westwood One this week, which makes its MB audience gains a bit misleading) but in terms of next single, I really would be surprised if it wasn't "Roller Coaster Ride."

Any new predictions on where this ends up peaking? It's had an interesting run. Looked like a peak around #20 was likely a few months ago, but it's kept chugging along. Now sits at #13 on Mediabase with a decent lead on Maddie & Tae, Kenny, etc. After Jason & Brantley leave the top 10, that should put this at #11. He's not putting up numbers to pass up the crowd he's around (Keith, Brett, Chris Janson), so he'd probably have to wait for Luke and/or Michael Ray to fall before being able to enter the Top 10. My guess is it lasts a few weeks to get to #9 or #10, and then starts dropping. But it's defied the odds thus far, so who knows.

Good grief, how is this not even top ten? I hear this so much I've actually grown tired of it.

This potentially hitting the top 10 is the only reason EMI is keeping this one alive but "Like A Wrecking Ball" has been having a slow go at it for quite some time now and gained less than 300k in MB audience this past week. This song has been charting for 26 weeks, which is a really long time for someone like Eric, especially since this hasn't even gotten to the top 10 yet. All I know is I'm anxiously awaiting the bottom to fall out on this one because it's worn on me greatly over recent weeks.

I have to say I love this song. It's got such a great old time soul feel to it, especially with the organ in there and the kind of 60s slapback echo on the vocals. I like it lyrically as well. My wife and I have had a similar kind of saying for years when the "love" has been few and far between like if one of us has been out of town where we say, when we get home you're gonna be in trouble. If you know what I mean. Still I have never really thought of victimizing the construction of our house, so that's kind of a neat innovation.

This is done. Down nearly 200 spins and over 700K in AI this morning.

Good to see this perform pretty well. Will be interesting to see if they go with another single from The Outsiders, or not. Gonna probably be another long wait for new EC music.

I am quite certain that there will be at least one more single from The Outsiders yet. I am just hoping that Eric was able to hold off Chase Rice and Luke Bryan on tonight's Billboard chart -- that would mean a top 10 peak for "Like A Wrecking Ball". UMG clearly pulled the plug on this yesterday, but they got the MB top 10 and I'm hoping that it translates to a BB top 10 as well (and then this one will go recurrent next week).

That's really on-the-ball radio. Wonder if that station is ready to add I Walk The Line or Okie From Muskogee -- I hear they could be big hits. Don't want to rush into anything.

Not to nit-pick here, but it probably means that that one station added the song last week Monday. That's generally how it works on Mediabase -- the add isn't reported until after the first full week of spins for that song. So my guess is that that one late station gave Eric at least a few spins last week in order to contribute to what was apparently the "final push week" for LAWB. But that's just me being overly serious and missing your humorous point. That station really should have added this one a long time ago.

Fell short of a Billboard top 10 peak by 460k in audience as Eric lands at #11 this week.

Fell short of a Billboard top 10 peak by 460k in audience as Eric lands at #11 this week. That's too bad. After all this time, it would have been nice for him to slip in there for a week.

It still went top 10 on MB so EMI/Capitol and Eric will count it (as will I, naturally, lol) but I agree that it's disappointing that it couldn't reach top 10 on both charts. This happens sometimes when it comes to top 10 peaks where it goes top 10 one chart but not the other, especially when there are multiple songs so close in spins and audience on both charts.

Oh yeah, it'll go down as a top 10 in his eyes and the eyes of his label (and probably most of the industry), but I'll have to consider it a #11, haha.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed that Eric will just say "F*** You" to radio and release "That's Damn Rock N Roll". Even if it never got above 5 million in audience, I'd bet it would sell extremely well. Out of the more realistic options, I hope for "A Man Who Was Gonna Die Young", but I wouldn't hate "Broke Record" or "Roller Coaster Ride".

I'd say this did really well for a slow song, plus it outpeaked both "Cold One" and "The Outsiders" (the latter of course, didn't do well because it was polarising).

I'd guess Roller Coaster Ride but ya never know. This era has been wildly successful for him, nothing to lose basically, so he could surprise us.
