It's about time. All he wanted for this era was to be his most successful. Looking good right now. Was expecting 90k from Chris & Tyga, but that'll be a consistent seller.

www.billboard.com/articles/columns/chart-beat/6480643/big-sean-first-number-1-album-billboard-200-chartBig Sean Set for First No. 1 Album on Billboard 200 ChartBy Keith Caulfield | February 25, 2015 9:05 PM EST Big Sean is heading for his first No. 1 album on the Billboard 200 chart. Industry sources project his new album Dark Sky Paradise to debut with 140,000 album equivalent units earned in the week ending March 1. That should be enough to enable the set, which was released on Feb. 24 through G.O.O.D./Def Jam Records, to bow atop the Billboard 200 chart. The Billboard 200 chart ranks the most popular albums of the week based on multi-metric consumption, which includes traditional album sales, track equivalent albums (TEA) and streaming equivalent albums (SEA). The new Billboard 200's top 10 will be revealed on Wednesday, March 4. Dark Sky Paradise could sell over 110,000 in traditional album sales, which would easily mark the artist's biggest sales week yet. 2011's Finally Famous debuted and peaked at No. 3 with 87,000 copies sold in its first week, while 2013's Hall Of Fame launched with 72,000 (also debuting and peaking at No. 3). After Big Sean, look for Kid Rock's First Kiss to start in the top five, while Chris Brown and Tyga's collaborative album Fan of a Fan should debut in the top 10 as well. The former could shift over 120,000 units, while the latter might move 60,000 or more.

Wow. I'm surprised Chris/Tyga aren't pulling 100k for their first week. The album doesn't seem like it was promoted much though.

Kid Rock has been getting some good promo. He was on The Tonight Show among a few other high profiled appearances. Plus, his single is doing pretty good on iTunes and radio. The album has also been getting some solid reviews and he has a pretty big tour pre-sales going on right now.

www.billboard.com/articles/columns/chart-beat/6487459/kid-rock-top-10-album-billboard-200-chartKid Rock Aiming for Eighth Top 10 Album on Billboard 200 ChartBy Keith Caulfield | February 27, 2015 8:55 PM EST Kid Rock is on track for his eighth top 10 album on the Billboard 200 chart, as his latest album, First Kiss, should open at No. 2 on next week's list. The set, which is his first for Warner Bros. Records after a long tenure with Atlantic Records, was released on Feb. 24. Industry forecasters suggest it could earn over 120,000 in overall album equivalent units in the tracking week ending March 1. Beginning with his 1998 breakthrough Devil Without a Cause, all of Kid Rock's studio albums have reached the top 10 -- including one No. 1: Rock N Roll Jesus (in 2007). He earned an additional top 10 effort with the compilation The History of Rock in 2000. Kid Rock will likely end up in the runner-up slot on next week's Billboard 200 chart, behind Big Sean's also-arriving Dark Sky Paradise. It may shift over 150,000 in total units, with upwards of 120,000 in traditional album sales (his best sales week ever). Big Sean and Kid Rock's latest releases will be two of three new albums that might start in the top 10. Also on tap for a top 10 arrival: Chris Brown and Tyga's collaborative set Fan Of a Fan, with perhaps 70,000 units.

Just realized that both Big Sean and Kid Rock are from Michigan and different genres. Kinda cool to see Michigan get the #1 and #2 albums this week!

Very good numbers for Big Sean, that's almost what Hall of Fame had sold in TOTAL.
Also solid numbers for Kid Rock considering this day and age.
Not too bad for Chris Brown and Tyga and Red.
A bit disappointed with Mat Kearney though.
Also, why does Led Zeppelin keep re-releasing their albums?

To be honest, i think age affect more on radio airplay than in album sales, and even less on country music (which is probably the less ageist market if you are a male of course)

Also, why does Led Zeppelin keep re-releasing their albums? $$$$ and the label recognizes that there is consumer demand for them. They are Super Deluxe editions. The 3 re-releases last year sold 400k+.

I think he is the type of artist who will need a couple of hits before that singles success tranlate into album sales. But it's undeniable he is doing a good transition from teen star to adult singer which is not easy at all

His solo album is doing pretty decent especially compared to Joe Jonas's solo album attempt.
