I don't see anything else competing for #1 until at least next month "Renegades" worries me. For now, though, I welcome our returning Muse overlords.

hmmm ... not what I was expecting ... part of me thinks this has a wee bit of crossover potential, but if Starlight couldn't breakthrough in the mainstream then maybe they never will ... It's Muse so you know it's gonna be good, but I like Starlight much more than this - at least for now...maybe it'll grow on me

Both did OK on the Hot 100 though. I hope this stays at #1 for a while. I do not want "Renegades" to knock this from the top (or even get anywhere near it).

Yeah, on CHR Uprising got to #46 I believe, and Madness almost went top 20

I like "Mercy" better than "Psycho" or "Dead Inside," but it can't be compared to "Starlight." That's just a damn masterpiece.

"Mercy" sounds like a great follow-up to "Dead Inside"

What's most interesting to me about "Mercy"...honestly, after the first listen, I wasn't a fan. We already have a "Starlight", and, seeing as that is the song that made me an uber-fan of Muse, I didn't need another one. They've already tried for something similar with "Guiding Light" and it didn't work all that well. But we also didn't really need another "Uprising", and I love "Psycho", so it would be pretty hypocritical of me to slight one song that sounds like a previous favorite while I love another...even if I love "Starlight" WAY more than I do "Uprising". After a few more listens...I can't say that this will ever be a personal favorite Muse song for me, but there's definitely some cool stuff in this song, particularly the vocal harmonies and the instrumental that sounds like it was ripped straight from a Coldplay album...almost as if it's a direct response to Chris Martin and "Magic". Hmm..
Now that I think about it, that would make me appreciate "Mercy" a lot more.

Do you guys know how common it is for a song to be #1 on Alternative for multiple weeks and have sales that are this low?

"Mercy" is by far the best of the songs released so far.

I kind of feel like this might be #1 because of record labels/politics - not only is no one buying it, callout scores on RTM.com are relatively low as well

it's #1 because of Muse's history on Alternative, in the same way that Fever or Something From Nothing were never going to miss #1.
Muse is currently occupying one of the few comfortable "staple" spots for the format, and regardless of what they release, it will do very well.

Mercy is one of the best rock songs I have heard in a while, easily will crossover and I can see being their biggest hit ever. It's THAT good.

This is battling Fall Out Boy's "Centuries" for my most hated new song by an established artist. I thought "Psycho" was a rewrite of "Uprising," but I've come to prefer that after hearing this. It's like they decided to make a song with the worst elements of 80's rock. Those two bands are nothing alike. Muse is real alternative. FOB on the other hand idk what to call them.

Easily my favorite song released off of the album so far. Some of the guitar work reminds me of Tom Morello haha. That was pretty good, but I think I like "Mercy" a bit more.

Easily my favorite song released off of the album so far. I think that the live version of this is slightly better, but the live version is already one of my favorite Muse songs ever. And the studio version comes close. The guitar wankery at the beginning gave me CHILLS the first time that I listened to it. I've been waiting for a song like this from Muse for almost ten years.
