Loose was released by Nelly Furtado in 2006 and became one of the best selling albums of the year, propelling her to international stardom and selling 8 million copies worldwide. The album produced four smash hit singles "Promiscuous" which went on to become her first #1 in the US and hit #5 on the European Hot 100, "Maneater" which went on to become her first #1 in the UK, and #2 on the European Hot 100, "Say It Right" which went on to become her most successful single release ever, peaking at #1 in the US and #2 in Europe, and "All Good Things (Come to an End)" which became her first #1 on the European Hot 100. Promiscuous hit #3 on the year-end Hot 100 charts, while her following releases all hit the top 10 on the European Hot 100 year end charts - with Maneater at #9 in 2006, and All Good Things & Say It Right at #3 & #4 in 2007. It was such an unexpected comeback for her after the disappointing release of Folklore in 2003. One of my most played albums ever, her singles run killed this era!

This album was perfect, just f#cking perfect when it was released. The guitar intro into the drum beat on "Afraid" coupled with the children singing the chorus in the end was amazing! Plus Tim "Attitude" Clayton put in work on the lyrics. "Maneater" was the definition of epic and out the box. "Promiscuous" is a perfect example of the Man vs Woman swap off. "Glow" had that ill breakdown at the end. "Showtime" was Nelly F. bringing out her inner R&B spirit. "No Hay Igual" was a Reggaeton inspired JAM! "Te Busque" was equally phenomenal and I love Juanes so it was an added plus. "Say It Right" harks back to some of the best ethereal atmosphere music. "Do It" with that bridge just gets me everytime. "In God's Hand" is a beautiful guitar laced ballad. "What I Wanted"... "Wait for You" is one of the BEST Timbaland/Danja epics there is. The bhangra beat and breakdown still moves me. When the treble starts to push through the frantic percussion makes it feel like the climax to an amazing movie scene. "All Good Things (Come to an End)" showed that Chris Martin has no balls, but he can still co-write incredible melodies and music.

This is my favorite album of hers, and it was a brilliant move to reinvent herself. AllMusic gave the album 4/5 stars:

"Wait for You" is one of the BEST Timbaland/Danja epics there is. The bhangra beat and breakdown still moves me. When the treble starts to push through the frantic percussion makes it feel like the climax to an amazing movie scene. OMG. I thought I was the only one that LOVED the production on "Wait For You". It's amazing and never gets old.

This album takes me back to my sophomore year in college. Timbo and Danja weren't playing around on some of those songs. "Promiscuous" and "Say It Right" were giving me 80s pop. I played the hell out of the latter for a long time. "Afraid" was a great combination of rap and rock. I felt like it could've worked as a single. The same could be said for "Showtime". I've always preferred the long version of "Maneater" just for the instrumental and the exchange between Nelly and Timbo.

It's clear she got the best 2006 beats from Timbo/Danja while JT got some re-hashes at the time. :kii:

I really wish Wait For You, Showtime, and Afraid could've been singles.

Goddamn this album is ace - packed full with single-worthy tracks.
Afraid is a standout for me. Say It Right is probably her best single to date. Maneater is a jam. All Good Things is gorge. I can even get down with Promiscuous again after major burnout for the better of the last 10 years.

"Folklore" remains my favorite album by her, but I loved most of the singles and was glad she had a comeback. I didn't expect her to fall off the face of the Earth again right after.

Most pop stars would kill to have an album this good in their discography. Still don't understand what went wrong after this.
"Say It Right" is amazing.

Probably my favorite album of 2007. The singles were perfect, and even the non-singles were all strong tracks. Even though Nelly hasn't had a hit in years, it somehow doesn't feel like it was that long ago that she was ruling the charts.

It's incredible when two artists collaborate and bring out the very best of each other. Loved this project in its entirety, they really served us something special.
