That's my point. How accurate would the title "biggest hit ever" be if people don't even know who the lead artist actually is? If Mark Ronson wanted to be remembered as the lead artist of "UF" he would let sb like Aloe Blacc or Sam Martin to be the singer of his song just like the Avicii's and Guetta's style! Everybody knows Avicii as the lead artist of WAKE ME UP (You may say that Mark Ronson was not popular so he used Bruno but it is not true!Avicii was not popular either in US when he released WMU) So he doesn't "need" to be remembered as the lead artist of UF :) Ronson is not the lead artist of UF. It was labelled as Mark Ronson f/ Bruno Mars only because it is featured on his album. It could've been simply labelled as Bruno Mars had it been featured on his next album just like Locked Out of Heaven, Gorilla & Moonshine on "Jukebox" which have very similar credits. Maybe it wouldn't make people so confused. Uptown Funk! is an outcome of fruitful collaboraion among four pals: Mars, Ronson, Bhasker & Lawrence (songwriter, 1/3 of the Smeezingtons). It was born out of jam session in Bruno's studio in LA. Ever since Mark saw Bruno in concert he wanted to capture the level of energy & sassiness he had that night in the studio. Mark described in detail how they worked on it. They wrote the first werse the very first night and then went separate ways: Mars x Lawrence on a world tour, Ronson worked with Duran Duran & Bhasker had other obligations. They reunited several times, and nothing came out of this. They kept on trying to finish it, and got to the point that they thought it was a lost case, but they never gave up. They were ready to do anything to get it done. Just one example: After Bruno phoned and said he has an idea for the bassline, Mark grabbed the bass & flew from London to Toronto immediatelly. There were times when Mark thought the song is ready to go, but Bruno thought it's still not good enough saying that he doesn't want to listen to UF years from now regretting he didn't fix something when he had a chance. According to the official Uptown Funk! credits Bruno is the one holding the most credit for it: Bruno Mars: production, songwriting, vocals, instrumenal [drums], music video: [co-director & choreographer]. Mark Ronson: production, songwriting instrumenal [keyboards & guitar) Jeff Bhasker: production, songwriting Philip Lawrence: songwriting They wrote & produced it together. There's no real lead artist according to them, but there is certainly one responsible for its commercial success. Mark is a producer who treats a release of his own album as an achievement and an opportunity to work with his best friends. He has no intention of becoming another Calvin Harris or Pitbull. UF! has smashed because one of his best pals happen to be the biggest male recording artist in the world today, and that's it.

Not even new Rihanna can keep it down. Looks like it's up to ADELE or Gaga to stop the record breaking lol

People are still gonna call it a Bruno Mars song, 20 years from now though lol That's my point. How accurate would the title "biggest hit ever" be if people don't even know who the lead artist actually is? The success of a song has no contingency whatsoever on how well-known the lead artist is. Everyone remembers Gangnam Style. PSY? Not so much. The lead artist doesn't have to be remembered in order for a song to be considered one of the most successful of all time.

Definitely Adele could break the record breaking but I think she will release by the end of 2015/early 2016. Maybe Katy Perry too if she releases her reissue of Prism with that remix of Legendary Lovers with Drake.

Something will knock this from #1, just a matter of time.
This song will not be #1 forever.

Prediction:
1. Uptown Funk! (40% lead) 2. Sugar 3. Thinking Out Loud 4. Love Me Like You Do 5. Earned It 6. Trap Queen 7. FourFiveSeconds 8. Style 9. GDFR 10. Somebody (or Time Of Our Lives)
BBHMM will debut at #13 or maybe #12

What about Macklemore & Ryan Lewis (who?) featuring Wanz (who?????) with "Thrift Shop" or Gotye (who?) and Kimbra (she exists???) with "Somebody That I Used To Know"?

from what we know/understand about BB streaming policies, will the "Trouble" viral video count? What viral video is that? Trouble is a very fun song, I'd love to see it peaking higher.

The video is at 24 million views right now. I'm guessing it will have about 30 million views by the end of the tracking period. Assuming it does count, almost half of those would have to be USA views in order for the song to be in the top 10 this week. Unlikely IMO

You know what never mind actually lol it got 75k views in just the last 10 minutes or so :O that's about 400k-500k views per hour...it'll probably hit 40 million in that case by Sunday night...are we sure though that Facebook streams count? I'll be upset to see Uptown Funk!'s streak of topping all three chart components being broken :( :( :( I should change my prediction for the top 10 this week if streams for that video are being counted lol

If it was Mark Ronson featuring a no-name. "Uptown Funk" wouldn't be a hit at all. I just can't imagine this could happen. A) UF! wouldn't exist w/o Bruno. B) it's the song he's most proud of. C) he's no longer struggling artist forced to sell his songs in order to survive in LA. D) Believe it or not but it's a big deal for them that they did it together. Mark said that although they can do just fine on their own something magical happens when they are in the studio together helping them reach their full potential. He even joked that sometimes he feels weird wihout them, wondering if the stuff he's working on would live up to Bruno's standards or would he find things to complain about? He also said that watching Bhasker at work is his favorite paste time activity.

I love the idea of UF being the longest running #1.. it will definitely be more memorable than OSD which is (and always will be) overshadowed by other hits Mariah and Boyz II Men had. I don't see why "memorable" matters. The Hot 100 measures in the moment success, not longevity. Anyway, I don't really care if "UF" gets the record or not, but its sales success is puzzling to me. All I mean is, who in the heck is just now hearing the song and deciding to buy it? What rock were they all under?

Everyone is a no name until they get one Journey, ELO, Tom Petty (just to name a few) say hi. :) His post says everyone is a no-name until they get a name (which is a valid, albeit playful, interjection), so listing major artists without number-one hits is kind of irrelevant.

Memorability does not matter here and is really impossible to measure.
Is Low more memorable than Thrift Shop?
Is Dark Horse more memorable than Happy?
Time will tell
Chart performance measures the here and now, not memorability.
Example...far and away the biggest song to come out of the 80's (Don't Stop Believin' by Journey) hit #9 initially

The people buying it now are most likely the ones who don't really know what a Bruno Mars is, but they heard it somewhere and thought, "It has a good beat and you can dance to it."

Unless there is a second version of BBHMM floating around on iTunes, Uptown Funk! is now ahead of BBHMM.
