The song was on the sales chart the entire time it was on the Hot 100. It was delayed for 6 weeks though after radio picked it up. If there hadn't been as big of a delay, a couple more weeks would have been added to the total. Yes, but the commercial single was deleted in order to help album sales. So, some stores ran out of singles. That's why "OSD" fell down the chart fairly quickly once it fell from #1. "Fantasy" was also deleted at a certain point. In fact, a lot of Mariah's singles were either deleted or limited releases ("I'll Be There" and "Heartbreaker" are other examples). She might have a lot more weeks at #1 if not for that. What is the theory/reasoning for why "UF" always trends up on the weekend? I think many commercial singles, not just Mariah's, were deleted from the market after a while.

What do you guys think will be #1 after UF/SYA (and maybe, just maybe, Sugar)? I'm banking on either EI, SUAD, or GDFR (of course SUAD is lacking streaming so it would certainly need to pick up within the next few weeks to get that #1). Really hard to tell which one. Whichever it is (or if it will end up being something other than those three) it will probably be 4-5 weeks before it gets there since the UF/SYA/Sugar competition is pretty tough right now and those songs are stil pretty far behind. Earned It. I kind of want UF to stay for at least one more week though, cuz it's sort of annoying having so many songs tie for second place.

Hmm is maybe my prediction seeming not so crazy anymore? Here I'll throw another one out there: SYA will sell 328k this week. Thank you! I felt like I was crazy and the only one not buying into these 450-500k predictions. Although 328k is definitely too low I think. 350k for sure. But still not convinced about 400. Especially now that UF made up some major ground today. If it keeps this up over the weekend, then SYA will only average around a 3x lead on it in pop bars for the week as a whole. Meaning sales should be around 3x of UF's. Assuming UF sells about 120-125k this week, then my prediction for SYA is 365-385k.

Although its doubtful, Im reeally hoping UF somehow gets 'enough' of a wkd boost and by the skin of its teeth pulls a 'Problem' on SYA! ;P. If not, theres no way SYA will get anything close the 350-400k in its 2nd full week. Hype will slow down and long as UF doesnt plummet, wont be easy but still think it has time to get at least another week at #1 (the week after). I'm not buying that Earned It is any major threat yet (as many thought it may be by now). Aside from SYA, besides UF, its almost a Ghosttown in the top 10 (no pun intended to Madonna lol). The next possible major threat is Taylor Swifts new remix (but that isnt until May). So theres def a chance UF could sneak in 2 more weeks. 'Perhaps' next week when RCA will do *something to make it happen. I'm hoping they just held back this week cause they knew it wouldnt make a difference (unlike next week)!

As long as UF is top 3 on airplay, there's no competition against it besides SYA so 15-16 weeks is definitely possible even though it might slip to #2 this week. 17 is now a tough job.

Ugh, I hate Wiz, but I hate Uptown Funk more so.. go SYA!
Idg why people are trying to predict more than a week (or two) tbh. A week and a bit ago a load of people thought that Earned It would dethrone Uptown Funk, and didn't even think SYA would. Anything could happen.

Ok ok I'll revise and say 368k for SYA. The thing is that might already be enough to dethrone UF though...the video is already at 20M views and plus there's Spotify. It will easily get over 12M streams this week so to make up for a moderate streaming lead and a major airplay lead, SYA just needs to outsell UF by about 200k (depending on the formula being used, which I'm not entirely sure about) which it will definitely pull off. It'll be really disappointing if UF doesn't break the record set by a tribute only because of another tribute. I bet that zombie guy is celebrating right now.

Ellie might get a second airplay #1 without ever hitting #1 on the hot 100. Has anyone else ever had that happen?

I know that Maroon 5 and Taylor Swift have had two airplay #1's that didn't reach #1 on the Hot 100 (Payphone/Animals and You Belong With Me/I Knew You Were Trouble).

Wow, even w/ airplay falls (even if UF were to get daily 2 million loses which is unlikely) it would EASILY still be in the top 3 next week, if not higher next week and 'possibly' the week after. Long as 'somehow' the sales/streaming hold up w/ UF may def. not be over yet. SYA has a WAY long road ahead of it w/ airplay. For whatever the reason SYA (so far) isnt exploding on pop as I much as I thought it would by now. Still, even if it does, this chart week is almost over and its gains were not that impressive. It def. looks like UF is trying to come back on iTunes and isn't going down w/out a fight. Not saying its gonna happen, but def. 'may' have made perfect sense for RCA to not do anything this week and to wait until SYA starts to simmer down then take action. Im just not feeling the love for SYA. I get why people are though but as Ive said just think its a gimmicky, mainly all hype tribute song vs anything that special. Been done sooo many x already. UF is original even w/ its retro sound.

Yeah, it was common in the 90's (Goo Goo Dolls and Alanis Morissette come to mind quickly) but it's a different ballgame since Billboard policy at the time deemed their singles ineligible to chart on the Hot 100 anyway.

Even when looking at worldwide iTunes charts, SYA is starting to lose steam in a lot of countries. Yep, think the hype is def. starting to shows of weakening. If the song was 'that' special, w/ the mega killing its doing at the box office, if the song was that great it would still easily be getting constant green updates w/ no signs of slipping.

In that case there's a good chance of UF returning to #1 on 5/2 if it loses out to SYA this week. Although worldwide iTunes is probably not a great indicator seeing as how the Hot 100 incorporates USA data only

Meant to say, the last UF update showed it gaining 2% points and its dark green plus the 2nd version when added to the total means it may be close to 40% now on SYA. There still all of today and tomorrow. If it somehow keeps up these gains (while Im still doubtful) may make it a razor thin close race!

Yeah that's a good point. The FF7 hype definitely seems to be dying down inevitably. Luckily for UF, it's decreasing slowly in all three metrics which puts it in a good position to return to #1 for 5/2 and maybe even 5/9

How many streams did the "Uptown Funk" video go up this tracking week?
And when it comes to user uploaded content do we have an idea of how much it'll inflate the two songs?

Sorry, but no. When big artist release their songs generally they climb fast to the top to then drop a bit till airplay rise and then go to the top again. Going down is perfectly normal for SYA
