I actually don't believe that was ever her intention, the media made it about Beyonce in the headlines because they took her tweets out of context and, you know, a "female artist vs female artist" story will get more clicks. It's what happens when some weird website no one's heard of wants attention and has bloggers lurking ppls timelines in search of clickbait titles and they end up spreading to mainstream media thanks to hundreds of retweets etc and because most of today's freelance editors are useless.

(Reminds me a bit when Hot 97 posted that title something like "T.I. talks end of relationship with Iggy" which was not really what he was saying on the interview but could've def been misled that way and the media desperately ran with all kinds of embarrassing and pathetic headlines for shock value as usual.) Iggy loves Bey and I highly doubt she'd shamelessly try her like that, especially when Beyonce gave her one of her first big looks supporting the Australian leg of her tour in 2013.

Basically: a fan she regularly chats with called her that and she asked them to stop and explained why she dislikes the word, she wasn't even talking about the song. In fact Iggy herself already clarified and said she obviously doesn't even know who Bey was referring to/whoever she was talking abt is not her concern (and loves Lemonade - in fact she said it before this mess happened as well).

That's the thing, she wasn't even commenting on Beyoncé tho...
She won't stop interacting with fans and that can cause quite a mess when things get misinterpreted but clearly she doesn't care (enough to stop doing it at least, and I respect that) so the media will just keep taking advantage of her and we'll just have to deal I guess.

The Aussie rapper gives EW a behind-the-scenes look at her new album 'Digital Distortion,' out June 24



When Iggy Azalea started working on her second album, Digital Distortion, she came up with about 20 songs, scrapped them because they “didn’t really have a direction, there was nothing fresh about them,” and went back to working with D.R.U.G.S., the same team who produced her first acclaimed mixtape.

“I just felt like they really understood me so I went back to working with my friends,” she says. “It’s harder than my debut — more aggressive. It’s a little bit darker and moodier and there’s a bit more of a throwback to some of my older mixtape sounds. But it’s got electronic influences used in a rap way. My version of rap is alway always controversial.”

Digital Distortion also includes a love song, a rare move for Azalea. “It’s the one song I did that’s lovey because [fiancé] Nick [Young] was like, ‘You don’t have any love songs. I don’t exist,’” she says. “I usually do break-up ‘I hate you songs,’ but I’m getting married so I can’t write those anymore.”

After more than a year of making headlines for online tiffs, Azalea titled her album with specific care: “This album isn’t about Twitter battles. It’s about the way other people can distort your character and having the power through technology to do that.”

Iggy said on Wango Tango she was supposed to submit the album to her label yesterday but she wants to include a new song she did with Zedd so she's delaying it for a few days.
She looked amazing!

What in the world was even that reissue plan?! I'm still wondering about it. The new material was pretty great but I'll never be able to not mention how that project started fucking up her momentum with a string of tragic decisions. ugh Her team seems to only be useful to book performances (hey better than nothing), everytime I remember that fans had to bring to her attention Team was scheduled to be released on a Tuesday..

She performed at some festival in Morocco yesterday:

“Sometimes you almost have to kill your character so you can come out with your message and not have it twisted into whatever that story line is that was ongoing last year," she says at the festival, in Rabat.
“I just felt like it got a life of its own and that there was not a lot of truth to it. So I was very cautious. I didn’t want to put out any music or an album and have it twisted. It was important for me to take time out."
“There is a lot of looking for validation because of things like social media and wanting other people to like you, to worry about how many social-media followers you have or who likes your post and how that dictates what you do," she says.
“That’s not the best environment to foster creativity. So for me it was important to have a song like Team – it opposes that message that we are told subconsciously every day."
“It is different and tricky – especially as an artist," she says. “I think artists should be controversial and push the limit of what they say and not have censorship.
“But when it comes to appropriateness of what is in the song and what to say in social media, I think there is a line. We still have to figure out what that is – what should stay on the record and what should be said on social ­media."
"I guess that they are technically my peers," she says. “But I don’t know if they want me to be all the time. Sometimes it feels that some people want to keep me on the outside forever.
“But when I am with my friends and I am sitting there creating, I do feel like an insider."

Agreed.  Although from what I've heard from it, it sounds solid and she seems really proud of it.  So I've said it before, and I'll say it again.... buck up, put another single out and just release the damn album and let the chips fall as they may.  She's either going to fly or fail - and I personally don't think the music itself is going to be the determining factor anyway.  It's just whether or not people are going to buy what she's selling as an artist.

I remember back in 2011 they were working on a joint mixtape executive produced by DRUGS as well called 1990 (both were born that yr) which was full of remixes from classic 90s tracks or whatever but we never got anything out of it :( so I'm hype for this and actually been waiting for them to collab again, they better deliver! You was cute but I know they have potential for much bigger together.

I watched her on GMA and thought she was pretty good.
The only parts that were annoying is them having to or just in case blocked out a lot of "Team".
I also dislike when she lips the words to the chorus. Isn't it her???
That's all minor I guess and it doesn't seem to bother many.
She has pretty good stage presence and I find her more entertaining than a decent amount of rappers out there.
I hope she gets a new song out soon...
