yea I think so why? are u being shady Waverly sis? idk if she's actually still signed to her modeling agency maybe there's no need but didn't she just have that campaign in Australia? Naw, I really wanted to know, lol. Tbh she could prob do a lot more, not to mention she turns stuff down cuz she doesn't want to travel and be away from home life/Nick. #tragic to think of how much more she could've invested in her brand worldwide esp in the past year she barely promoted her music outside the US after Fancy as well hopefully she'll look back and realize certain stuff as wasted opportunities now and her young ass learns a lesson before getting stuck for life.

I honestly like a fair bit of this girl's music, so I hope she can pull off a turnaround with album #2. I'm really surprised at all the hate she's been getting -- like I understand a fair bit of it, but the general public was all over her this time last year and then they turned on her so quick. I also have this friend who is obsessed with her to the point where it's f**king annoying. He's always posting lengthy snapchat stories and constant statuses on FB about how she's the real queen of rap and Nicki Minaj sucks and sometimes I really just wanna be like "we can't be friends no more." So when she cancelled her tour, I sent him a picture of some promo for The Pinkprint Tour and was like now you can go to this instead.

I opened up my Kindle Fire and the first thing I see is the lead article from the Washington Post: "A Pop Star's Demise." How dreadful.

There's also a scathing article about her at the daily beast titled The World Turns on Iggy Azalea.
I kind of feel bad for her but the more I learn about her the more I don't.

She is one of those artists that I really wish I could have managed myself. Seriously, some of the problems surrounding Iggy could have been solved by a smarter team to guide her (unless she rejected the guidance in which case it would be her fault). In some ways, I think she was ill-prepared for the music industry. It will be interesting to see what they do with her next album though.

Iggs was replaced by Nick Jonas. Nice choice, but.. Well that's not bad at all considering he's very popular. They deserved no one though, they = the ones who created the mess but those ppl are apparently still dedicated on pulling a tantrum on this years Pride from what I've read? so at least the ones that were planning on going anyway still have a nice show to attend I guess. !!! Lol so true, esp the PR part of her career relating to the non-creative side of things. I mean I don't know if I would've done a better job because I'm no professional but there's just been so many little things that became unnecessarily bigger they could've done something abt/avoided ages ago. They literally have been on "wait and see what happens and hope people move on" mode ever since she signed her deal in 2012/3 lmao, honestly I don't think her management is that experienced with artists that reach this amount of success and attention in the US, esp so fast and with all the singular characteristics of an artist like Iggy (considering there hasn't been one like her before really) being a white female rapper and all that comes with it, a web-born artist plus her personality having always been very interactive too etc. I don't think she's that clueless and I'm pretty sure she knows what she's doing for the most part (or at least did before this year, I guess we'll have to see what happens with her next era like you said).

Iggy doesn't even seem interested in her career at this point. She seems more interested in messing up her face and marrying Nick Young. I honestly think she lacked the thick skin needed for the hollywood life. She should have stayed independent and underground. Ignorant Art and TrapGold are both amazing to me and the Glory EP is better than her debut album in my opinion. I think the backlash she has received for so called "cultural appropriation" is nothing more than people casting the climate of racial tension on her. The thing is, Hip Hop became a style and a genre from the moment it went international. It grew beyond the streets and then it grew beyond the borders of the US. So you really can't be mad at Iggy for taking on the traits of a global phenomenon. They're of Korean and Japanese pop stars calling themselves gangsters in their best Hip Hop voice because of how global Hip Hop has become. And I don't recall ever hearing Iggy claim that she was somehow responsible for popularizing Hip Hop. She always gave credit to those who allowed her to even be a fan of the genre. I do agree that her management appears to be clueless. Any decent management team would've been putting out fires from the jump. And they wouldn't have been sleeping on her career and letting her release singles with no music video. I honesty think she should focus on European markets. But she won't. Bottom line, her career will probably never be the same. People will talk though. She should record a song about her current struggles and title it Igloo. That would make headlines.

Iggy was just back on twitter for a while!! Some bits she shared about the new project: "i scraped an entire 6 months of work and started totally new." "its too early to tell yet exactly how things will sound overall, but im not looking to abandon my identity." "im very focused on incorporating some of the sounds i played with on mixtapes." She's also making a coffee table book with pictures documenting her life, I love that type of backstage and candid stuff!

I'm loving the truth I'm seeing in this thread! Seriously, some of the problems surrounding Iggy could have been solved by a smarter team to guide her (unless she rejected the guidance in which case it would be her fault). In some ways, I think she was ill-prepared for the music industry. It will be interesting to see what they do with her next album though. She needs some more experienced people on her team, especially her PR. It's like she had no media training. This is why I don't f**k with Twitter, you have crazy fans and celebrities alike rambling on with no filter. I think her going mainstream was great, but she and her people weren't ready to handle the amount of attention and pressure she received.

Iggy is fking Dope !!! have loved her since the Mixtape Days. People are so ignorant and i feel the current racism climate in the U.S. these days just adds fuel to a fire that should have never been started. If I said something on twitter 3 years ago WHO F'ING CARES ?! people grow and opinions change. People are so quick nowadays to try and pin something on you and make it stick with you forever. I mean She was a XXL freshmen not too long ago. Everyone knew she'd blow at some point - so she blows up and everyone is now up in arms over a white girl doing Rap. I jUST CANT.
rant over.

It's quite unfortunate how the tables have turn for her cause her case is quite unique as a poster above very correctly said. A tall, pretty white female rapper making such a huge splash is not something that has been seen a lot of times (if ever) so it's understandable that her team found it difficult to overcome all the bad press she ended up getting. I don't even think anyone in her team expected her to become the target of every tabloid/blog/twitter account/etc even after she recorded the tailor-made hit that Fancy was.
Bottom line is that she is talented and I hope the mess goes away cause I've been a fan since 2011 and I'd love to hear/see more of her.

What's really strange to me is the media completely ignoring this: www.youtube.com/watch?v=IosP8iSnwNkThis nails the "Iggy is a fraud" point better than anything else out there.

What's really strange to me is the media completely ignoring this: www.youtube.com/watch?v=IosP8iSnwNkThis nails the "Iggy is a fraud" point better than anything else out there. No one's ignored that at ALL tho, I guess you must've missed the "total outrage" when it spread around every online publication last year and how it's referenced in every thinkpiece detailing her "lack of authenticity" lol. I still don't see what's wrong with it, so she couldn't have experimented with other styles before making it big? that track/video never even got an official release in the first place, the producer who was her friend and posted it about a year ago said it was something they did for fun back in the day. Plus it's not like we don't know how she's always been around hip-hop crews ever since she arrived to the US, from her douche ex-boyfriend thats tried to cash in selling her old material in past years, to the stories with Backbone from Dungeon Family, etc. And I don't get why we're still talking "fraud" at this point I thought it was established/she was seen as a pop-rapper, just like Iggy herself tweeted back in December stating she doesn't care how she's defined, she'll just make the music she wants and if people like it good if they don't well I don't see why you'd waste your time just like I don't with artists I don't like/care about. There's absolutely nothing wrong with that. Sometimes people act like she's out here claiming to be some sort of hip-hop prodigy/savior or something when that's hardly ever been the case, in fact its all the hip hop websites and publications that, years later, are STILL reporting her every move and the likes of BET and Soul Train etc nominating her and yet yall mad at her "fraudulent" ways. Did people seriously expect an Australian white female rapper to be a hip-hop purist's delight in 2015? Some really need to keep it movin in this day & age "Iggy Afailure"...? LMAO. This is bad. I feel sorry for her publicist. How witty. And Wendy is a flip flopper + hardly the reason her publicist will be losing any sleep, do you see what she says about every celebrity like daily? I feel like she's actually always had a soft spot for Iggy anyway lol

Aunt Wendy likes Iggy, she says it all the time and defends her. She's just being honest and saying what most are about the state of Iggy's career right now.
Funny that she scrapped the album and is starting from scratch. I was thinking the other day how that "bragadocious" type of music she said she was doing wasn't going to work this time around. It'll be interesting to see where she takes her music now and how the roll out for the album will be + reception. People's standards are low and that usually works in artist's favor.

She's been relatively quiet this year in comparison to last year and it seems that the negativity is growing. Even though recording is just her job and not her life, I can't imagine what it's like to be on the receiving end of this backlash. I'm sure she'll find a way to turn it around, but she has to play her cards right. When she comes back, she has to hit as hard, unique, and fresh as possible.

Can I get a mini summary as to why there is all this negativity towards Iggy?
Also, did Eminem get any backlash like this? Did Vanilla Ice?
