It's doing well on Hot AC. If this explodes on pop it could be the biggest country hit in a good while, because generally country songs do damage on pop when they are done on country and this is not the case. This is still climbing on country. I think it's a very special song

Amazing performance tonight (best so far), although Faith wasn't really necessary and kind of random. Please send this for adds and let it smash.
Karen's voice is fucking amazing.

If this finally crash into the pop charts (and i think it'll do) it must be the first time i see (at least in the last six years) a song crossing to pop before peaking at country (of course without counting Taylor Swift).
The whole chart run is quite strange, because its sales were really big even when the song was very low on country charts. Their previous hits sold quite well but once they became hits on the country airplay

No, i wasn't talking about the hot 100, i was talking about crossing to pop before peak on the country chart. Wanted started to chart on pop when Somebody's heartbreak was the single on country, Cruise was totally done on country before being remixed to pop (and it was barely the same song), If i die young was a hit on country too, and the same with Take your time. Girl crush is not even top 10 on country right now. It's true that it didn't cross to pop yet, but taking Hot AC, Take your time was near the top or number one when started to chart on Hot AC. Girl crush in case it will end being number one on country (it will be very strange that a song that big from a group with two previous number ones on the chart didn't reach the top, but given how payola works on country maybe there's not enough room with some many bro country male singers) it will be in no less than a month (and that being fast), and by that time the song should be charting on pop (and be relatively high on hot ac)

Don't worry, i'm spanish and it wouldn't be the first time that what i write and what i wanted to write are not even close

I feel like they're waiting on the pop remix + adds date til after it peaks on Country. It's currently #5 and will probably peak within 2-3 weeks. It seems super rare for a Country crossover to be pushed to pop simultaneously w/ Country radio.
Speaking of the remix, I wonder if they'll just add more drums in and make it more upbeat (like Taylor and The Band Perry did), or go w/ a bigger remix and bring in someone else (like FGL did). I'm holding out for a Katy Perry remix! LOL! She also kisses girls and is on Capitol Records as well!

If they're going to bring someone else in on this song, I want it to be Lady GaGa so freaking bad I can taste it! lol. That would be absolutely killer. They need to feature someone with the vocal chops to pull this song off, and that wouldn't be Katy.

They should release it now, the song it's doing well on hot ac, and if they release before peaking on country they maximize the radio audiences

This gem needs to be heard by more people, so I really want it to be released to pop radio. I feel like some people might stay away from this song just because it's labeled "country". But I guess if you just listen to this song without knowing it's country it's fine so it wouldn't matter that much?

It's like Need You Now, which was the second biggest song of 2010

Not sure how I feel about featuring someone else if there's a pop remix, but if there is, I agree that it should be Gaga.

Realistically, they did perform w/ Ariana Grande at the CMA's in November. Her era is winding down and she is about as relevant as they come on Pop radio right now.

They would've push it to pop right now as its consistency selling for the past few months. By that being said, I guess pop wasn't the direction they are aiming for and I'm fine with that.

I can't see Pop wanting to play a country charting song, and likewise. Take Your Time is having a hard enough time as it is. I think they're right to wait

I think they're right to wait I've always wondered this, but why is pop radio more unwilling to play country songs than say, alternative or hip-hop songs? "Need You Now" and "Cruise" were big hits, but there have been many more alternative and hip-hop songs that have crossed over to pop and became big hits in the past 5 years...

I'm not sure, to be honest. I think it is just the connotations from a "country song". Usually if someone likes pop, they don't like country, and vice versa (obviously there are many exceptions but). These might not be present with alternative and hip-hop songs. I'm not really sure, not really educated on it, but I that's what I think it is

It came out of a prejudice from the 1980s. Prior to that time, CHR sparingly but regularly played country songs. If you look at the Hot 100 from 1981 and 1982 (Urban Cowboy era) there was a lot of Country on Pop Radio.
Country Radio freaked, thinking that it's stars were getting 'too pop' or commercial, and for the remainder of the decade, country became very conservative, twangy. (Oversimplifying it a bit). This turned off the mainstream public. In fact, from a research perspective, by the late 1980s in most polls, when asked what music they liked, most teens - not living in the South - would commonly say - "anything BUT country".
Commercially sold Country singles were not frequently produced during this time, thus fewer appeared on the Hot 100 per its rules at the time. This led to the further reputation that country was 'unpopular'.
It all turned around with Garth Brooks, Soundscan, and the LeAnn Rimes / Shania Twain era in the 90s, but never quite shook the stigma in Radio PDs eyes.

This has peaked at Country radio (#2, ridiculous for an 13-weeks #1 on Hot Country songs), so I hope Pop radio start to play it soon
