Kick the dust up sounds great it had a dance feel which makes it a great summer song in my opinion. No the lyrics aren't great but that's not what it's meant for it's meant to be a song you can dance to.

Ugh, I thought Luke was getting over this type of music :( Agree. I loved Luke's early stuff, but this is pretty formulaic like a lot of his other recent songs. Same writers, same topics. For someone as huge as he is right now, he's got the chance to make a statement which his next single/album -- this one is disappointing.

Kenny Chesney has been singing quality uptempo fun songs for years. They aren't nearly as contrived and fake as Luke Bryan's stuff. This guy feels like a Billy Ray Cyrus to me now. One song made Billy Ray a overnight success but it also caused the world to never give the rest of his music a chance. Luke is one cheesy song away from losing all credibility IMO.Maybe you don't see the signs, but just sit back and watch him lose his relevancy. Yeah except the difference is Luke already has multiple multi-platinum selling singles under his belt, whereas Billy Ray was basically a one hit wonder. Six of Billy Ray Cyrus' first seven singles went top 10 on R&R and/or Billboard, with three of those hitting the top 5. His first two albums went platinum, while his third went gold. He wasn't a one hit wonder. layne is correct about the trajectory of Billy Ray's career, though I don't think Luke will suffer a fate as worse as what happened to Billy Ray's career.

Anyone else tired of people missing the point that recording "fun" radio-friendly music means it has to be lyrical and musical garbage? I don't understand why an artist can't record an up-tempo tune that has decent lyrics and actually sounds country, but apparently if they don't, then by default it must be a very dark, sad ballad about children and puppies dying or something. Believe it or not, there used to be a middle ground between songs like this and the weighty stuff. But it seems like now a song being fun and dance-able is supposed to excuse poor lyrics, production, and/or vocals, and I don't get it.

I don't mean to offend you, but I don't see you criticising "Little Red Wagon", which was another "fun" song with lyrical garbage. That aside, agreed with you.

I think Miranda's sass and energy plus the oddball production probably made .indulgecountry like this song

I still like this and don't like Little Red Wagon, but if Nick thinks that the instrumentals for Miranda Lambert's song made up for the lyrics, then so be it. But in all fairness, I get why people hate this. Like there's no reason why Luke should add those 'up' lines at the end of the chorus. I was expecting some negative feedback for my post, but this is discussion after all :)

For layne: At least Luke Bryan has multiple #1 hits while Billy Ray Cyrus only has one.
For everyone else: Where will this be in week #2 after its #19 debut?

Yeah and there is a reason Billy Ray never got another #1 after his big cheesy hit. A few more childish, gimmicky songs by Luke and you might see his #1 hits decline.

LOL, I just took the latest Rate The Music survey and this song was in there twice (it was different segments both times; the 2nd time it was the horrible "up up up" part at the end of the chorus). I rated it "strongly dislike" and "tired of it"...TWICE! And it felt good, lol.
And I rated "Games" as 'like it some', and 'not tired of'. I don't think "Games" is a great song by any means, and I'm well aware that nothing can stop it from going recurrent on Monday, but it's way better than "Kick The Dust Up". This song is just cringe-worthy, perhaps even worse than "Country Girl (Shake It For Me)". The lyrics are just incredibly unintelligent and just...plain bad.
I'm convinced that this song wouldn't do anything if a B or C-list artist released it, but of course because it's Luke Bryan, radio and Luke's fans are all over it. I'm cautiously optimistic that it won't have good call-out scores, though.

This song is just having massive update after massive update as "Kick The Dust Up" has gained 847 spins and over 6.0 million in audience this week, with two days left on the MB chart. Westwood One added it, so they have accounted for nearly 1.7 million in audience, but still, this song is being treated like it's the next coming of "Live Like You Were Dying", lol. Luke's song is sitting at #2 on the iTunes country chart and #20 on the all-genre chart.
I don't think this will be able to leap ZBB on MB by week's end, so a four spot jump from #22 to #18 is likely. I've already heard this on both The Highway and WYRK multiple times this week, so I can't wait for what it's like two months from now...

Remaining cautiously optimistic until I actually hear it with my own ears, but I got excited when I saw headlines that the new record would be 'country-er' than his last. I really hope he follows through on that and we get something on par with Bringing Back the Sunshine.

These two parts of that interview made me the happiest. I've always thought that Bryan is a great vocalist; he just picks, and sometimes writes, really bad songs to showcase that talent. "Drink A Beer" and "Roller Coaster" were both steps in the right direction. I don't think anyone's really expecting him to bust out of the gates with a subtle sound comparative to Vince Gill or a powerhouse vocal masterpiece comparative to Carrie Underwood, but I think revisiting his "Do I" days, and channeling the emotion he put into vocal performances like those songs, could be extremely beneficial for his critical acclaim. He's obviously got the commercial part down. Here's hoping the party songs don't outweigh the ones of substance on this next album.

Luke treated his fan club yesterday a performance of his new song "Fast" on the upcoming album. Luke said it will eventually be a single. It sounds really old school though....reminiscent of "We Rode in Trucks" from the first album. Hope radio actually plays these kind of songs in 2015. www.youtube.com/watch?v=MNMe1mIWJWo

Thinking it will either be Jason Aldean or Blake Shelton My money is on label-mate Karen Fairchild of LBT. Karen recently answered a fan question via Twitter on "Who would you like to duet with in country music?" Little Big Town @littlebigtown Jun 5 .@lukebryanonline - KF

Hope radio actually plays these kind of songs in 2015. Radio will literally play anything if Luke sings it, including songs that aren't singles and the worst possible songs imaginable apparently.
