Haha Someone likes to put words in other people's mouths, I see. Nice try. I didn't say it was pathetic. Just said it seems like a waste of time for a 4th single. I also never said it was ok for "This Summer". That's a brand new single, however, and not a thrown together remix for hype. See the difference? I generally am not a fan of remixes or radio deals. So I suggest you actually ask questions about what people mean before making inaccurate assumptions.

Except this remix is pretty distinct from the original? Clearly they put a lot of thought into this single launch, nothing was "thrown together".
And they're treating it as essentially a relaunch of the era, just like with TSGHLAM. There is no difference.

Bad Blood is not brand new song. It's a remix of a song previously found on the album. This Summer is a brand new song. That's a difference. So sorry. Try not to get so defensive next time k?

Where did This Summer come into the equation? Interesting on your part to just assume that I thought that deal was ok. Also interesting that you read what I stated as a waste of effort as something "pathetic". Seems like defensive behavior to me. Glad you can acknowledge it.

I don't think See You Again is quite done. the "falling fast" phenomenon is due to the Voice songs which will be gone soon.

A new single from another big artist that coincidentally came out a few days ago, and also had a radio deal. Do you not see that it was a natural connection to make?

It's whatever. If her label is trying to sell downloads and generally generate interest in a 4th single off a nearly-5x platinum album (GOD FORBID!) they may need a bit of a 'hook' for people to grab on to since the song is old news to Taylor's fans. That means remixing the song (IMO, it's WAY better with Kendrick on it) and putting together an expensive, star-studded video. It obviously worked - it's #1 on iTunes with a huge lead and buzz is great.

I agree. See You Again still has a lot life left. It needs a few days for all craziness on iTunes at the moment to settle down.

also Yea...I'm the defensive one. Yea, they're so pathetic trying to do their job and make this single as big as possible. "This Summer's Gonna..." had a radio deal its first day as well, but I guess that was ok? don't remember anyone calling the amount of "bad blood" promo anything more than slightly obsessive tbh also lmao wtf it wouldn't be surprising at all to find out that you only mentioned the new maroon 5 song only because slamina's a maroon 5 stan like I get your point but I can see how it can be seen as desperate

I actually mentioned Summer because I saw crystal's post and they mentioned Sugar's remix. As hard as it may be to believe, I was already replying in the quick reply box before Slamina had posted.

Aw hellll to the no @ me getting blamed/dragged into this defensive bickering ;) #kiddingbutnotkidding The exchange aside, slamina did make a good point about SYA. BB is absolutely slaying iTunes right now, and I really hope it makes it to No. 1 on the Hot 100, but SYA isn't exactly disappearing. Those Voice tracks won't have any longevity, neither will Luke I imagine, and SYA is still well ahead of SUAD (the next song that's actually a Hot 100 hit.)

Luke will hang around for a bit - he's actually performing the song tonight on The Voice (might have already; I don't have it on), so if anything he'll see a continued boost. After this his longevity will probably be limited to the Top 100 at best - likely the upper half since he's currently Country's biggest star; he just won't be threatening the top after this.

Kworb saying Bad Blood sold 36K, is that from the few hours it got Sunday night? I think with that and the radio it has up until today it could re enter this week. David Guetta getting another top 10 today and Fifth Harmomy their first top 20, I'm guessing!

Wow, almost all of these #1's took place in the last 5 years. Yes, which is kinda ridiculous given that most Max Martin fans would tell you that his real peak was in the last half of the 90's into the very early 00's. His peak in quality pop songs perhaps...a top 10 peak of his 90s hits doesn't make it lesser in quality.

Bad Blood has been getting some reds in iTunes updates. If it slows down and stays at the level it is at (I hope that will be the case), it should sell 350k-400k. The video is at 29M views (not sure if that's the most updated). I think a top 5 re-entry is inevitable for this song, even if it does crash. IIRC the last top 10 re-entry was "Cruise" when the remix came out and that was more than 2 years ago. I'm counting on you, Taylor, to get that #1..

Top 2 is 100% GUARANTEED RIGHT NOW, the thing is if next week it will re-enter (in the case it don't do it this week) at #1. With great sales and streaming I think is possible (considering that SYA is still big)

This is why it's pointless to guarantee songs any X amount of weeks at #1. People said UF would break the record and then bam it was out of contention. Now SYA is still massive and it could be dropped next week.
Nothing's set in stone.

Looks like Talking Body, Hey Mama, and You Know You Like It have a good chance of going Top 10 on radio. 8 out of the top 11 songs are falling. Radio is getting ready for its summer smashes

OK, time for some data. Here's how the last major surge-based #1s topped:
See You Again 464,000 sales 25 million streams 24 million audience impressions 60% lead in points
Blank Space 328,000 sales 19.2 million streams 70 million audience impressions [We don't have lead info]
Shake it Off 544,000 sales 18.4 million streams 71 million audience impressions [We don't have lead info]
Now, I'm not certain on Bad Blood's stats, but it seems to be something like this?
Bad Blood Between 300,000 and 400,000 sales Between 10 and 20 million streams Less than 60 million audience impressions by Sunday
I wouldn't quite call June 6th in the bag. See You Again is still pulling in something like this.
See You Again (now) Between 180,000 and 220,000 sales Between 15 and 25 million streams Around 185 million audience impressions (adjusted for Billboard)
Yes, sales are weak, but streams could be more consistent and radio is of course the biggest hurdle.
Alternatively, let's consider how the #2s (except in Shake's case, where Anaconda also surged) in each of the prior cases were performing.
Uptown Funk! 145,000 sales 14.6 million streams 157 million audience impressions
All About That Bass (Blank's top) 126,000 sales 11.9 million streams 95 million audience impressions
All About That Bass (Shake's top) 283,000 sales 11.6 million streams 64 million audience impressions
The only one of these weeks that the See You Again forecast is notably weaker than is Bass, but that was a weird week. It may have the potential to underperform compared to Uptown's usurped week, but that's only if it majorly underperforms in streaming and sales. There is a good chance it's strong enough to withstand Bad Blood.

^Bad Blood will have more than 20 million streams because the video views are higher than Blank Space's first week. I can't understand how SYA had last week almost as streams as its first week at #1
