People either love or hate this one - one of the best and worst pop songs ever? A song they themselves renounced for symbolizing all they began to dislike about the music industry, refusing to even sing it live for so long. It still makes me smile everytime I hear it, so there's something about it..

As a major Heart fan of course I LOVE this one although it's not one of my favorites from them. This was actually originally offered to Don Henley, believe it or not.

This grew on me well after their other hits. It's ok, but definitely towards the bottom of what I listen to from well. The parent album, Brigade was strong for the most part though and a few edits away from being as tight as some of their earlier releases.

31 years ago today, "All I Wanna Do Is Make Love to You" by Heart scored a second and final week at its No.2 peak on the Hot 100 Singles chart. The song was originally written by Shania Twain's cheating former husband, Robert John "Mutt" Lang in 1979 and Dobie Gray recorded it. In the late '80s, it was offered to Don Henley but he declined to record it. Ann and Nancy Wilson from Heart didn't like it either but wound up recording it for their 10th album, "Brigade" with different lyrics and released it as its first single. They now refuse to play it live. The song also charted on the Album Rock Tracks at No.2 and on the A.C. chart at No.6. Sonically, I love it. Its lyrics tell an interesting story of a woman with a mission.
ETA: Here's Dobie Gray's recording of the song, I like it!

We walked in the garden, we planted a tree
This song is too much, IMO. Ann Wilson has called the song's message "hideous". I'd go more with "nauseous".
I like Heart, but I'll pass on planting a tree in the garden.

A true ballad in the olde sense of the word: a song that tells a story.

This was blocked from #1 in 1990 on the Hot 100 by Madonna’s 3-week #1 run with Vogue. It went to #1 in Canada and Australia.
