"Blue Bandana" is the most added song on MB with what looks to be 60 adds on impact day (it might end up being one or two more when the official report comes through).
This is Jerrod's biggest impact day of his career. Don't forget that "Blue Bandana" got 17 adds before today as well.

It has 78 total adds on Mediabase, so they're probably counting a couple of non-panel stations (possibly including SiriusXM, although I don't have satellite radio so admittedly I don't know if they're playing it).

I haven't heard it on The Highway yet, but perhaps they're a brand new add as of this week.

"Blue Bandana" is free on the Google Play Store as part of Play: Country Hits.

My expectation for this is a run similar to "Trans Am," which had the highest number of first-week stations of Thompson Square's entire singles discography, but couldn't do much more than Top 50 after the initial hype generated by the label. I think Jerrod got the wrong idea about what he needs to release after "Donkey" flopped. Radio may not eat up every single song with tempo, but they're definitely looking for something more like "Drink to That All Night." "Donkey" was a bit too silly for radio, but I don't think the lesson to be learned here is to steer clear of bro-country or to release traditional snoozers like this. I could see Jerrod's career getting derailed by sort of an "identity crisis" like we've seen other acts experience lately (ex. Young Band, Thompson Square).

I agree about what radio is looking for and that they won't go after every song just because it is "fun" or has "tempo." However, I don't think Jerrod got any "idea" about what he needs to release for radio. Sounded like he just wanted to go back to songs that fit him as an individual. I don't find this to be traditional or a snoozer. This is something that Kenny Chesney would have rocketed to the top 10 years ago, yet in my opinion, it's still unique enough to be Jerrod's own song.

I could see Jerrod's career getting derailed by sort of an "identity crisis" like we've seen other acts experience lately (ex. Young Band, Thompson Square). I agreed completely with you on "Trans Am" but I have to disagree here. "Blue Bandana" will already make the Billboard top 50 this week and unlike "Trans Am" did, this song already has some major stations inside its top 10 spin leaders including KNMB (Minneapolis), WEBG (Chicago), WIRK (West Palm) and KKGO (Los Angeles) -- those four account for over 700k of "Blue Bandana's" audience so far. The spin numbers for the leaders of this song actually leaves me encouraged by its chart prospects. I'm certainly not saying this one will be a #1 hit or even have a fast climb, but I do not see this having a similar chart run to "Trans Am." It's funny you should bring up "idenity crsis" and "Drink To That All Night" in the same post since I believe "Drink To That All Night" was about as close an artist could get to a sell-out these days. Now, the shifting back and forth could certainly hinder an artist but having listened to Jerrod's music all the way back to the mid 2000's, "Blue Bandana" is more of what he's about as an artist than DTTAN was. I don't think Jerrod will ever be a mainstay at radio since he always releases songs that don't exactly fit into radio's ideal mold for what they desire -- even though some of those have been successful for him -- but the past few impact days have shown me that radio wants to embrace Jerrod, and while I don't see "Blue Bandana" being a #1 single, I also don't see it flopping entirely.

I actually think this song has a great chance to be a #1 hit. It's a strong song -- well-written, solid production, good melody -- and Jerrod sounds great. It might not have a ton of tempo or EDM elements or a bro-country theme, but radio is open to other kinds of songs too (even if it doesn't always seem like it), and to me this seems like it could be a game-changer for Jerrod...or, at the very least, I think he'll score another big hit to lead off his album, much like he did with "Lover, Lover" and "Drink To That All Night" (which are in no way similar to each other -- I'm merely comparing them because they were both lead singles, and both went to #1).
"Blue Bandana" is off to a terrific start -- a much, much better start than "Trans Am" got off to.

The Chesney comment is funny because the writers mentioned having him in mind as someone they could hear it for (fyi, they wrote it before "Wild Child" came out). Not sure if they meant in the write or just after the fact. Also, this song was on hold for Jake Owen for a while, and was on hold w him when Jerrod heard it

I easily see this being a #1 if Jake sang it, but I think it's still got a chance with Jerrod.

I agree that Jake would have done a great job with this song but I'm glad Jerrod got. His delivery of the song was well done and his vocals give the song a laid back style that fits the songs free spirited lyrics. I was originally worried since I enjoyed CJ Solar's original demo, but Jerrod did a very good job on it. This also was the style of song I was praying that he came back with and leave the High Noon era behind.

I'm so glad this is at radio now! I love hearing songs like these. It definitely sounds similar to some of the songs on Kenny's The Big Revival.

"Blue Bandana" looks like it got another dozen adds this week and should surpass 3.0 million in MB audience by tomorrow (#47 currently on the rolling chart). Radio is definitely responding extremely well to this song.

"Blue Bandana" jumps 10 spots to #43 on Billboard. The chart isn't out yet, but Arista Nashville got their new ad into Country Aircheck early today (most of the ads are still from last week), noting that Cam is at #24 and Jerrod is at #43.

Great write up in Billboard tonight about how "Blue Bandana" came to be: BillboardSo they did want this to go to Kenny Chesney first but complications in scheduling put the kibosh on it. They then turned to Jake Owen who did like the song and put it on hold but ultimately decided against it since he wanted to go in a different musical direction with his next album. That's when Jerrod found it and the rest is history.

Is it just me or does he sound like Joe Nichols on this song?

This is hella catchy! I feel like he's gotten a really reaaly bad rep since Donkey. But I'm just going to conveniently forget that Donkey ever existed.

I really hope this is a huge hit. Everything about this one is great. Hope to hear it often on the radio. Good to see him bounce back strong with a tremendous song after the High Noon era

I think this does have a Chesney feel to it, especially coming off the heels of the Bonnaroo name-drop in Wild Child, but I think it does enough things different. For instance, it has those layered vocals that Jerrod loves so much.

This song is excellent. Definitely the best Jerrod has ever released. I'm not a fan of his, but that could change if he keeps recording songs such as this.

It feels like this song hasn't been doing much of anything lately. I hope Jerrod can get back on the radar but I wouldn't be surprised to see this flame out soon.

"Blue Bandana" landed at #33 on MB this week and is up to #31 on the rolling chart after 13 weeks in the MB top 50, so even though this is moving slow, this one is going up as expected for Arista Nashville. It would certainly help this one to start picking up the pace though as its only increased 300k in total audience over the past four weeks. Westwood One could certainly help this song's climb on MB, as they could add it any week now. Jerrod's album was always scheduled for a 2016 release anyway.

This song sounded like a good bet at getting him another hit, but man, the sales for this are just awful. I'm really surprised at how poorly it's selling because I expected quite the opposite with this. I don't care either way if this is a hit or not because even though I don't dislike this song in particular, I've disliked almost every single thing he's put out to radio, so if his shelf life at country radio comes to an end... like I thought it was going to after his sophomore slump... eh, oh well. But I am a little shocked by how poorly this one is resonating.

Why great tunes like this swing & miss and others are home runs I'll never understand. I really don't like the trend we're seeing where great story-telling songs are having a hard time reaching the top of the charts (or, in some cases such as this, charting at all)
