Another idea from the country forum:
In this thread you can share any unpopular opinions about music. It can be from songs, lyrics, albums, artists, etc.

-I don't like Bob Dylan and don't like how the media has such an obsession with him and they make him so untouchable that you can't say something negative about him without being seen as a dick.
-I don't dislike all of Miranda Lambert's songs, but I don't like how she is everywhere on such mediocre material. I think it's shameful how she kept saying she was comfortable with her image and whatnot and then she lost weight and showed off a new look and then forgot all about that comfort. It's not okay.
-Bro-country is the devil.
-I do like Luke Bryan's music sometimes.
-I don't understand the success of Fetty Wap and Jidenna. How are they getting hits right now with such awful songs?
-I don't approve of Kanye West's "All Day" being a single due to the amount of censoring required to make it playable.
-I don't like Meagan Trainor and don't understand her success.
-I don't approve of Iggy Azalea.
-I don't approve of Azealia Banks.
-I don't approve of Ariana Grande.
-I don't approve of Big Sean.
-I don't approve of Wiz Khalifa.
-I don't approve of Charlie Puth.
-I don't understand how Rita Ora is seemingly everywhere on so little success and talent.
-I think Rihanna's "American Oxygen" is one of the best singles she has released to date and I am gutted that the single is being paid dust and the album that contains it may never come out.
-I think Britney's heart is just not in it and she doesn't seem to be having fun. It's wrong that she is being forced to keep recording and touring against her will.
-I loved both volumes of Justin Timberlake's The 20/20 Experience. It's the best album of his career.
-Chaka Khan is highly underrated. She may not have had a ton of chart success, but she has an impeccable catalog of songs and her powerful vocals are unrivaled.
-Janelle Monae is the next big thing. Her time is coming.
-Emeli Sande is underrated and she will be a huge with her next record.
-DJ Mustard's productions are all starting to sound the same.
-Dubstep breaks in Pop songs need to stop.
-I loved Sam Smith's "Lay Me Down." I think people dislike it because it underperformed.
-I don't like Pharrell's "Happy." It's annoying and basic.
-Marvin Gaye's family members are vultures trying to get money off of anyone and everyone who was influence by Marvin. They are nasty.
-"Sex Metal Barbie" is a desperate Marilyn Manson meets Garbage knockoff.
-I think Taylor Swift is so unlucky with love and relationships because she picks the wrong men.
-I think the Taylor Swift and Katy Perry feud is so silly. All over John Mayer. Really?!

-I don't like Bob Dylan and don't like how the media has such an obsession with him and they make him so untouchable that you can't say something negative about him without being seen as a dick. He's one of the all time greats IMO (and many others), but he's made his missteps, as I'm sure he'd admit. (Hey, he's been at it for 54 years now, and nobody's perfect.) With you on Luke. Bro-country isn't necessarily bad, but there are too many similar sounding acts and songs. How about more gender balance, too? I like "How We Do (Party)". Her other stuff is meh at best, but she hasn't really established herself as a reliable hitmaker in her own right (as distinct from features) yet. I really like both albums too, though I'm not sure if they outstrip FS/LS, despite his habit of stretching out many of the songs way too long. Good song, that was probably a bit too emotional/raw-sounding to be a big radio hit. He can do better, though I thought this was an enjoyable song that just got overplayed. Hope these are right. Disagree; I like her somewhat different image and retro-style, though her longevity is very much open to question. I also don't agree with most of the "don't approve"s, except maybe I-G-G-Y who is starting to wear T-H-I-N unless she changes things up a bit in her next era.

I like music from the early-to-mid 1990s (about 1991-96) better than that from the late 90s (1997-2000).
2010s music is better than 2000s, especially the first half of the 2000s.
1980s music is great, but far too much of it is overlooked in terms of recurrent play (this may not be an unpopular opinion, but it's true IMO.)

Agreed. Except for me it would be 1994-96 > 97-onward. And 2010s so far > all of 2000s. -I don't like Bob Dylan and don't like how the media has such an obsession with him and they make him so untouchable that you can't say something negative about him without being seen as a dick. He performed here in my city about 5 years ago and it was very poorly received. People still talk about how much they didn't enjoy his performance.

I prefer The Sweet Escape to Love. Angel. Music. Baby..
Mariah Carey has a nice voice, but her material is mostly boring.
Justin Timberlake may be one of the most overrated artists to ever exist.
Kanye West just is not good. Kendrick Lamar and Childish Gambino are far, far better.
I actually like the fourth Indiana Jones movie.
The Happening is not as bad of a movie as everyone says it is.
Miley Cyrus is much more clever than most people give her credit for.

-I don't like Pharrell's "Happy." It's annoying and basic. I'm not really a fan of "Happy" either... I never understood why the song did SO well and had massive success worldwide. Sharing some of mine as well: - My guilty pleasures in country music of the past few years: "Boys 'Round Here", "That's My Kind of Night", "Get Me Some of That", "This Is How We Roll" (I like the catchiness of those songs, but I definitely agree with everyone here that the lyrics are ATROCIOUS, especially "Get Me Some of That") -I don't get the appeal of Jason Derulo... I've warmed up to him a little bit with "Want to Want Me", but for some reason, his songs don't really do it for me... Even with "Talk Dirty", which is my second favorite Jason Derulo song after "Want to Want Me", I would listen to it if it comes on the radio or something, but I wouldn't really go out of my way to listen to it.

Whoa! I came up with a lot more than I thought I would
- I love Heartthrob just as much as Tegan and Sara's other work. I don't think they sold out at all
- Florence + The Machine's new album is difficult to stomach, because most of the song are in the same style and key
- Fall Out Boy has always been awful. I don't understand how and why they're still going
- Katy Perry's reinforcement of the gender binary and associated stereotypes detracts from my enjoyment of her music
- GaGa is not as amazing live as I was hoping, but her talent shines through better when she wears flats and actually dances
- Cher's Black Rose band is one of the creative heights of her music career
- Janet Jackson's Dream Street is a really solid effort. I'm only glad it did poorly because it lead to Control and the rest of her amazing career
- Part of me feel like Aaliyah wouldn't have had as much radio success with her self-titled, even though it was AMAZING, had she lived
- Christine McVie actually provides the Fleetwood Mac sonic cohesion
- Kesha became boring on Warrior
- Rhona has a better voice than Maxine and is a better fit for En Vogue
- Britney Jean is a solid effort (except "Chillin' Wit U"). It was just Britney's lack of willingness to promote finally catching up
- Return of Saturn is No Doubt's best album
- I find Supposed Former Infatuation Junkie and So-Called Chaos more artistic than Jagged Little Pill
- Skyfall is awful and only performed well on Adele hype
- Aphrodite is Kylie's least interesting album since her days with Stock Aitken Waterman days
- Madonna is a good actress who picked mostly terrible films in which to appear
The three that will get me shunned from Pulse:
- Fearless is just ok, and certainly not Album of The Year material
- I don't consider Confessions on a Dance Floor one of Madonna's masterpieces. It's a solid dance-pop album with some disco throwback, but I can list at least 5 albums of hers that I prefer
- Mariah Carey is extremely overrated. Her impressive vocal acrobatics have duped people into buying mediocre albums for over 2 decades.

^I don't think the one about Fearless will got you shunned. Taylor's fans is more upset about Speak Now not even getting a nod in AOTY than anyone saying Fearless shouldn't have gotten the AOTY and the iconic "RRRRRandom Access Memory!"

Music:
As a video, I find Bad Blood to be overvalued. They could have made the concept work better without so many stars (Cindy Crawford? Really, Taylor?)
I find Nicki Minaj more tolerable on collaborations than her solo work. She should keep working with David Guetta where she's 2 for 2.
I'm struggling with the hype for Kendrick Lamar. His collaborations with Imagine Dragons and Taylor Swift outshine his solo work. King Kunta might be the first decent single I've heard.
Other than 4 Minutes and maybe Hung Up, nothing Madonna has done musically in the past decade has been good. I'd rather see her return to acting.
I think R and B has been in serious decline for a while now. So has rap music for that matter.
On the other hand, I think Rock and Country music is on the upswing. Although both could use some diversity as far as age and gender go, you can't fake those genres and they've had some interesting new artists/groups in both.
I think George Ezra and Cole Swindell are future music superstars. They enjoy what they do and it shows.
I think Beyonce's last two albums were weak overall.
Kanye's last album was weak. He should quit focusing on Beyonce getting "hosed" at awards and worry about his own career.
Not a fan of Cher's Believe at all. She should save the autotune for artists who can't otherwise sing (like Paris Hilton).
I'd rather listen to some 1990s music than the decade of the 2000s.
I found Lay Me Down and Same Love to be afterschool specials more than good tunes.
Five songs that should have reached the top 40: The Walker, Secrets, Boys Chase Girls, Do I Wanna Know, My Kind of Love
Movies:
The Star Wars prequels were less good overall than the original trilogy. But only the second one can be called truly bad.
Other than a few key moments, The Last Crusade is almost the weakest of the Indiana Jones movies.
The 1998 Avengers is undervalued as its quirkiness and Sean Connery's brio makes it a better watch than you'd think.
The Dark Knight Rises is way too long, ponderous, and has a weak climax/conclusion.
The Farrelly Brothers last two/three films were as bad as that of Friedberg and Seltzer.

I agree with many of yours bat1990, especially the Tegan & Sara one. The endless comments about how they sold out with that album were so annoying, especially on their Facebook page. lmao! People were so pressed over what is such a solid album. I also agree about Mariah too and I've avoided saying anything because praising her to high heavens is so trendy here. She's a great voice and that's pretty much it. I've never been impressed by her songs, her songwriting is bland, and she's always just followed trends. I love many of her songs and get very nostalgic over a lot of her 90s stuff but other than that, they do nothing for me. Of all the main Pulse divas, I would say Mariah is, to me, actually the least interesting. Beyond that: -The 2010s so far musically surpasses pretty much the entire 2000s as far as popular music goes. -There hasn't been an interesting newcomer in the world of pop divas since Gaga and I don't know if it's because everyone who has come after her are just boring or if it's because she raised the bar and it takes more to impress me. With that said, the ones who came before her who are still around (Rihanna, Katy, Kelly, whoever else) can still grab my attention. -I like the AAA-takeover of Alternative radio. Music on the AAA tends to be critically acclaimed but by nature, also tends to be undervalued because it's never popular. It's about time AAA-songs are getting popular. -Clean Bandit are kind of gimmicky or cheesy but they should have had more hits. -Ed Sheeran is cute. -Sam Smith is okay but the singing style in some of his songs is actually really annoying.

^Thank you! I feel that Tegan and Sara aren't paid much attention to on Pulse, so there's not a lot of people around to discuss their music.
Also, the only diva since GaGa that does something for me is Kesha. I HATED her at first and found her music generic and awful, but going back and listening to Animal again, it's actually quite a solid album. I hope she gets through the legal disputes soon and can release more music. But otherwise I agree. TSwift was already out before GaGa as was Miley even though they're younger. Otherwise, no one has quite stepped up and made heads turn.
Finally, I agree about Sam Smith.

- Andy Grammer's "Honey I'm Good" is the best song on pop radio right now.
- I never expected Ariana's "Love Me Harder" to be a hit and am still baffled by its success. It's boring and forgettable.
- BeyoncΓ© is a terrible album. 4 isn't great either.
- Blake Shelton is a lackluster singer who records terrible songs.
- Brandon Flowers' solo work is nowhere near as good as The Killers' discography.
- Britney's Femme Fatale is better than Circus.
- The songs Bruno Mars records are far below his talent and ability level.
- I haven't particularly loved anything Carrie has released post-Carnival Ride. "Blown Away" is a massively overrated song.
- Christina hasn't released a good song since "You Lost Me."
- Fall Out Boy haven't made a good album since From Under The Cork Tree.
- Janelle MonΓ‘e is one of the most talented people in music and should be everywhere.
- Kacey Musgraves is an exemplar of what the rest of country music should be doing.
- I don't understand why people still pay attention to Kanye.
- Katy's One of the Boys is better than Teenage Dream. Prism is terrible.
- Kelly's Stronger isn't that great of an album. All I Ever Wanted is better.
- ARTPOP > Born This Way. The Fame is Lady Gaga's best album. - Apart from "Bad Romance" and "Telephone," The Fame Monster is a lackluster EP.
- I don't get Lorde. At all.
- "American Life" is one of Madonna's best songs.
- Maroon 5 need to stop pretending to be a band and just let Adam Levine release his horrible songs as a solo act. Or just stop making music altogether.
- Miley's Bangerz is a tremendously overrated album. "Wrecking Ball," however, is a great song.
- I'm Not Dead is P!nk's worst album. Funhouse is her best.
- Every album Rihanna has released since Good Girl Gone Bad has lacked staying power. Unapologetic is awful.
- I am infuriated that Taylor Swift is currently the most commercially successful act when she is such a terrible live vocalist. - 1989 is vastly overrated, as is Speak Now. Fearless and Red are better.

- don't get taylor swift. like, at all. her voice is gratingly childish half the time, and most of her singles from at least Red on has never been above or below aggressively mediocre, and frankly I feel like half of the reason why she's so successful now is that she's a pretty good pr person or whatever
- I can appreciate the emotion in "say something" by a great big world, but it's such a slow and boring listen that it just falls flat for me
- "this summer's gonna hurt..." by maroon 5 is better than any single they've released since MLJ (maybe even earlier)
- "love me like you do" is just okay. nowhere even close to ellie goulding's best singles, but it's still okay.
- justin moore's voice is way too grating for my tastes
idk much else

Talk about 3 of my fave pop stars:
Mariah: - E=MC2 >>>>>>>>>>>> TEOM. Side Effects alone slays most of TEOM album tracks. Even Memoirs and Me I Am Mariah >>>> TEOM. TEOM only had good first 4 singles and comeback hype. It's not abad album though. - Butterfly, often cited as her best album? No way. It's my 2nd least fave album from her, only Glitter ranks lower. So boring. Although Honey, Butterfly song and My All are 3 good songs. - Don't Forget About Us >>> We Belong Together. WBT is good but nothing special, only has huge nostalgia as her comeback hit. HATEU and I Stay In Love also >>>>. Even Loverboy, one of her most underrated songs ever >> WBT
Britney - Toxic is overrated, although a classic with perfect video. some of her post Blackout singles, like Gimme More, Womanizer, IUSA, 3, Hold It Against Me, TTWE, I Wanna Go >>> - Femme Fatale >> Circus. Circus has many fillers, although Out From Under and Inside Out are great songs. - Her best vma performance is not 2000's vma but 2001's vma imo. 2000's vma was more as a shocker, thanks to her outfit.
Xtina - Back To Basic her best album >>>Stripped - Not Myself Tonigh is her best uptempo song. Period. An extremely underrated song. The video killed the song, sadly. - Say Something, her recent huge Grammy winning duet is one of her most boring songs EVER. I dislike the song so much. Happy for the success though.

LOL :) I think it's because when I played Traveller, the streaming (from Jamie's earlier source) kept pausing, which irritated me a bit (could be because I was listening to it in school). I had less problems listening to Pageant Material at home (using Spotify).

I would love to see @antigonerising 's unpopular opinions. EDIT: Ooh! I thought of two more to add: - I prefer Kelis' work 2006-onward to most of her work with The Neptunes in the early 2000s - Most of Mary J's albums are full of filler, especially My Life and Share My World. They could be shortened and still maintain their impact on the landscape of R&B

They could be shortened and still maintain their impact on the landscape of R&B Messy I am only going to list a few b/c it's kind of like if someone asks me what my pet peeves are - I have a hundred of them but as soon as you ask me to name some, I struggle to think of even one. - based on my favorite albums' sales as of late, apparently everything I like from 2014-15 is an unpopular opinion . - I kind of agree with you about most of Mary's albums having a lot of filler, except I would switch out My Life in that sentence for What's the 411. Well, What's the 411 was just off to me because the radio versions for most of the singles are on the remix album. The album cuts are very good though; they are filler-ish, but I have a real affinity for 90s filler (21st century filler is usually ass though)...if they had just put the radio edits on the original, that album would have been close to flawless. - My least favorite Mariah song is Love Takes Time. I was actually listening to a bit of if a couple of weeks ago, when I was watching Mariah's raves and rants about her #1 videos, and it struck me how great the lyrics are - one of her best written songs for sure - but something about the melody or the production or...something just turns me off. I hate it as much as she hated Someday and IDWC, if that is possible. - Britney Jean was a decent record.

- I think Roman Holiday was one of Nicki Minaj's best live performances.
- I cannot stand Maroon 5 and feel they will go the way of Nickelback in a few years.
- I actually love Chris Brown's latest album.
- I think Xtina is more talented then Britney and do not understand the backlash she gets. At least she sings.
- I actually think most of Will.I.Am's (and BEP's) music is hot, although I agree the lyrics are terrible.

- Andy Grammer's "Honey I'm Good" is the best song on pop radio right now. - Blake Shelton is a lackluster singer who records terrible songs. - "Blown Away" is a massively overrated song. - Janelle MonΓ‘e is one of the most talented people in music and should be everywhere. - Kacey Musgraves is an exemplar of what the rest of country music should be doing. - I don't understand why people still pay attention to Kanye. - Miley's Bangerz is a tremendously overrated album. "Wrecking Ball," however, is a great song. - I'm Not Dead is P!nk's worst album. Funhouse is her best. 1. I'm more of a Lean On sort of person, but Honey I'm Good is pretty good. 2. I think with Shelton it's more about image than anything. Guys like him because they feel like they can take a drink with him. Girls like him because he's easy on the eyes. 3. Agree completely with Blown Away. 4. Janelle Monae should be more prevalent, I agree. 5. Kacey does set the bar high and I hope the country radio will eventually agree. 6. Kanye's last album was terrible and it feels like he's fallen in love with his own ego. But he hits it out of the park just enough musically to understand why he's good at what he does. 7. Agree so much with both parts. Bangerz sounds way too much like Miley trying out a rebellious image. I'd rather her focus on the vocals like she did with a Youtube take on Jolene which was damn good. But beyond the hype and the video, Wrecking Ball shows a vulnerability that I hope she shows more of in the future. 8. Other than U and Ur Hand, I'm Not Dead looks pretty weak. Funhouse has Sober, So What, Please Don't Leave Me and the titular track. I'd go as far as Funhouse>>I'm Not Dead.
