 1. Addict 2. Dumb S**t feat. Snoop Dogg & Black Ty 3. Picture Perfect 4. Waiting on You 5. Shame 6. Don't Wanna Look Back feat. Chrisette Michele 7. Prior to You 8. Leave 9. Without My Heart 10. When We Make Love 11. Gonna Give You What You Need 12. Body Language 13. Rest of Our Lives feat. Brandy 14. I Still Do Tyrese's fifth, and supposedly final, solo album is available now. The deluxe edition contains a DVD. (#38 Mainstream R&B/Hip-Hop) (#2 Adult R&B; #17 R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay) Even though I feel Open Invitation did a better job of blending his Urban and Urban AC sounds, Black Rose is still another solid R&B album from Tyrese that doesn't pander to current trends or sends him out of his depth (sans his rapping on Dumb S**t). At this point, he's easily one of the most consistent male R&B artists in my book.

Heard this album is set to move 55K in its first. Not bad for an indie album. He's consistent.

Wow, that's pretty good. It must be from the "Shame" fans. It is big in Urban AC crowd.
Also, I did not expect such a slow album, not that I'm complaining, but with "Dumb Sh!t", I would have thought there would be some attempt at very urban tracks.

I was expecting a more even mix of his Urban/Urban AC musical personalities, which I think his last album did a great job of doing.

Initial estimates have him selling 50-55k sales (55-60k SPS) but HITS will update tomorrow after they have a better sense of how albums sold over the weekend.
Tyrese debuted at #17 (1.3m sold to date).
2000 Watts debuted at #10 with 92k (620k to date).
I Wanna Go There debuted at #69 with 80k (880k to date).
Alter Ego debuted at #23 with 115k (325k to date).
Open Invitation debuted at #9 with 76k (375k to date).

You can that sales were booming back then if 80k landed you at #69, and 115k landed you at #23.

His sales have been pretty decent but they certainly don't match his ego.

The only song on the album I like is "Shame," but I'm glad that a purely R&B singer, who's been around for 17 years and is on an indie label, is seeing these kind of sales. He's actually made a pretty decent career for himself as as an actor too. He might not have been the most popular singer back in the day, but I bet a lot of his contemporaries would love to have his career now.

His sales are incredible, considering he only has an Urban AC hit and he's opening with the kind of numbers R&B acts with major Urban hits are opening with.

Was Tyrese the one who was bitching about doing a Pop album or something like that because he felt R&B fans didn't support him? Was that someone else?
His sales are so strong for someone I constantly forget about and rarely if ever check for.

No. That was Tank that went on a rant about people not appreciating his R&B album.

No. That was Tank that went on a rant about people not appreciating his R&B album. Well he had a point though. He said the label was forcing him to go the Chris Brown's route with the ratchet mess and he isn't with it (even though he attempted)

I remember one interview where he specifically said he dropped the Shots Fired record with Chris on his own and got a crazy reaction from it and he wanted to pursue more of that sound but it was Atlantic that told him they wanted the "Urban AC" Tank.

You could be right with that, but that could be a separate situation though. I am aware that he complained about his label wanting him to be more urban, which I think he posted on instagram.

This was his rant back in December. Tyrese was just asked about this, too, but his stance was that the radio PDs are more the issue than the label.

So in a way, it is two separate situations. I thought the "Chris Brown" was said during that December post, but I guess not.

Meh.... The album is a quick burn and I will probably only go back to listen to the Chrisette Michelle duet.
