It looks like I was almost the only one who put songs from Adrenaline to the list ( I had like 5 songs from that).

As I willfully continue to procrastinate during finals week, here's the results for our next artist. Silversun Pickups win the two-legged ballot, tying for the lead in both weeks (with a different artist each time). Coldplay had the least votes this week and in the combined ballot, so drop off after nine attempts. Nine Inch Nails and System Of A Down replace the two departing artists for their first attempts at glory. Hanging around outside the door to the ballot are The Cure, Death Cab For Cutie, The White Stripes, 311, and Coldplay. (the closest artist to never appear on the ballot are Gorillaz)
Here are the full standings:Silversun Pickups - 15 (7|8) Radiohead - 13 (5|8) Pearl Jam - 12 (7|5) blink-182 - 11 (6|5) David Bowie - 11 (6|5) Jimmy Eat World - 9 (4|5) INXS - 7 (4|3) The Cars - 7 (4|3) Coldplay - 6 (4|2) The Black Keys - 5 (-|5) Here's the link to the Silversun Pickups ballot!Voting closes Friday, May 13th at Midnight EST. Thanks for all of your votes!

I guess I'm in the minority, but "Nightlight" wasn't on my list.

I guess I'm in the minority, but "Nightlight" wasn't on my list. Wasn't on mine, either, and my list was pretty much all singles. SSPU wouldn't have been my #1 preferred choice for next artist, but I was still easily able to put together a top 10 for them. Singles artist (to me, anyway), but one with a lot of good ones.

No Nightlight on mine either. Circadian Rhythm made it though.

Another band I gotta check out extensively. I only recall that their songs sound like Smashing Pumpkins, but I'm drawing a blank on song titles.

Nightlight didn't make my list either but Better Nature took the lead for their albums with 4 songs. This is a band that gets better with age. My #1 is an often forgotten single so I may be the only one to put it as #1. My top 2 Silversun songs are really close, #2 landed in my top 5 of 2015

This was probably the hardest list for me to put together, as SSPU are one of my favorite bands.
1 from Pikul 2 from Carnavas 3 from Swoon 3 from Neck of the Woods 1 from Better Nature
3 singles, 7 album tracks

I'll have to get this completed fast later this week since I won't have a chance to start until Tuesday. It's probably going to be semi-tough to complete as I'm a big fan of theirs. I wouldn't expect "Nightlife" to be on my list either with so many good other songs. I'm also eager to listen to their stuff again. It's been awhile since I heard anything of theirs besides "Better Nature."

Good that this is the first band we're ranking from this millennium. Listening to their older stuff again, their album tracks are consistently almost just as strong as their singles, so I'm a bit frustrated that singles dominated my top ten.

Just finished my list. It includes: 1 from Carnavas 5 from Swoon 2 from Neck of the Woods 2 from Better Nature
I rated 13 songs 5 out 5's and nothing lower than a 3.5 out of 5. They have some real gems in their discography and overall are very consistent with their material.

Went to a phenomenal Cage the Elephant/Portugal. The Man concert last night and completely forgot about the 24 hour warning here. So I'll extend the deadline a bit.
Submissions are now due Saturday, May 14th 2016 at Midnight EST.

I realize that I always end up liking album cuts rather than the hits from bands that I'm not really into. I probably would have been more impressed if they had released those instead. Anyway ,I still think "Latchkey Kids" should be a single. Of course; my favorite, is; "Substition". I only wish I could have been one of those chairs in the video.

Pulse Top 10s #20 - Silversun Pickups - Results
A slightly smaller field (17 posters) suggested a slightly smaller than usual group of songs, as 36 cuts from the SSPU discography recieved points. Panic Switch and Lazy Eye running away from the rest of the field wasn't a huge surprise, but I was happy to see the list not limited to only singles. after looking at the votes, I can pat myself on the back for being the strong force that got "Substitution" in that top 10 :)

No one else likes Common Reactor, such a strong song? I will vote for Prince next time as well, at first didn't think they were alternative enough but LA alt station KROQ did a nice tribute to them on Sunday. Oscar method {Spoiler}1 Panic Switch 5+3+1 2 Lazy Eye 4+2+1 3 The Royal We 2+1=>Lazy Eye+Panic Switch+0 4 It's Nice To Know You Work Alone=>Panic Switch 4 Make Believe=>Lazy Eye 4 Nightlight=>Royal We 4 Substitution=>Lazy Eye 4 The Pit=>Panic Switch 4 Well Thought Out Twinkles=>Panic Switch

I voted for Prince during the Deftones round, but I may have been the only one who didn't submit while he was alive still. Count me aboard as well.

No one else likes Common Reactor, such a strong song? Common Reactor was in my Top 15 but just barely missed the final cut. Also about Prince/who is eligible, I'm not setting any requirements for which artists are allowed to be nominated. Based on the panel it's unlikely that we'll have any artists that wouldn't be classified as rock anytime soon, but whoever gets the most nomination points makes the ballot, and whoever wins the most votes is the next artist, regardless of genre.

So would Eminem and Macklemore be eligible? if enough people nominate them, sure. It's just called Pulse Top 10s, not Pulse Rock Top 10s. I think it's unlikely to happen with the current group of posters but if enough support was shown for it then it would be weird to just ignore a specific artist. Genre lines are so blurred anyway that it's almost impossible to categorize. Just look at who makes the "Hot Rock Songs" chart on Billboard for some great examples.

I would love nothing more to do a Macklemore list. I just finished a stage performance as Macklemore I was always wondering if there would be a Pulse Top 10s in the Hip Hop community or so. I would love to branch out and do other genres.

I'd be good doing one for Macklemore. His two albums were both excellent.
I don't know if I could really appreciate Eminem's music now. Maybe fifteen years ago when I was a big fan of his.

If we're doing artists from other genres, then why not move this from the rock board to the your opinion please board? I mean, this is a thread in a rock board.... That's my beef.

Well it was originally suggested in this board and the panel is almost exclusively made up of regulars from the Rock section, so I think it would be a little odd to move it imo. I also don't expect non-rock artists to start winning for a very long time because of this. If posters from different sections started to show interest and vote regularly, then maybe I'd reconsider. I don't think it's that likely though considering I've been doing this for almost a year and it's usually the same group of 20-30 posters each time.
I'm not saying I'm throwing out the ballots and doing a Taylor Swift or Beyonce vote next time, I'm just saying that I'm not going to exclude any artist just because I think they're not "rock" enough to do a ranking for.

System Of A Down squeak out victory by one vote in their first ever showing. The Cars drop off the ballot with only one vote, with hopes of returning soon. Replacing them on the ballot are two re-entering artists, Death Cab For Cutie and The Cure. Just outside ballot eligibility are The White Stripes, 311, Metallica, Gorillaz, and Chevelle.
Here are the full standings:System Of A Down - 7 Nine Inch Nails - 6 blink-182 - 6 Jimmy Eat World - 6 Radiohead - 5 The Black Keys - 5 Pearl Jam - 4 David Bowie - 3 INXS - 3 The Cars - 1
Here's the link to the System Of A Down ballot!Voting closes Saturday, May 28th at Midnight EST. Thanks for all of your votes!
