Not the biggest fan of Green Day (though I do like them), so my list was all singles.

It'll be hard to do this for sure. They were the first band I truly loved, although I don't feel as strongly towards them as I did in the past, it'll be fun going back.

They were for me too when I got into music in the mid-90s when "Dookie" was in its prime. They're still one of my Top 5 all-time favorite bands, but back in the day when I was a kid/teenager, I was absolutely obsessed with them. Now, they're just one of the many bands that I listen to. I just get a bit more excited if they came out with something new more than most others.

Not the biggest fan of Green Day (though I do like them), so my list was all singles. Pretty much in the same boat. I mean, I've certainly listened to my fair share of Green Day non-singles, but I'd be lying to myself if I said my favorite Green Day songs weren't singles. *shrug*

I'm going in order of listening to every album and am in the middle of "Insomniac" now. I already have 13 songs ranked in the 5 out of 5 category. This is going to be brutal once I finish everything :)

I've always considered Dookie their best album but I included more songs from American Idiot.

I think half of my songs were from American Idiot lol. That and 21st Century Breakdown are the only albums I own by them (the latter I haven't listened to since like its release year lol), so those were most of them. I think half of mine were non-singles though (some from those two, plus Dookie). I never really got too much into these guys, but they do have some good songs.

I had one from Kerplunk, two from Dookie, two from Insomniac, one from Nimrod, two from American Idiot, one from 21st Century Breakdown, and one that's not from any main Green Day album. Three weren't released as singles and six were top tens on Alt. Only two hit #1, though. I'm not a huge Green Day fan, so I haven't listened to their entire discography. I just went with what I know.

I wish I could do that, but some songs I haven't heard in probably years, so I have to re-listen to everything again to give everything a fair chance. The fact that you chose a variety of stuff from random albums and not all were singles will make the results interesting. I'll admit probably have of my Top 10 will likely be singles. They're the songs we all heard on the radio during the tenure of each album and got us into the specific album to begin with, so they deserve the recognition.

Okay, I lied. There are lots of singles, lol. Anyways, an honorable mention goes out to "Take Back". Seriously, guys, listen to it. wheatsquares33 you like post-hardcore so it'll probably be one of your favorites

And yeah this would have been fifth. I think I read that the radio edit was like 6 minutes lol, but stations still played the full 9 minute track.

I'm also a big fan of their live cover of Eye of the Tiger. It's very well done, and I think I like it more than the original, actually. ...I almost put that in my Top 10 .

s it fair to nominate songs from FoxBoro Hot Tubs Covers are fine since it's the band performing them, but I would prefer if songs from side-projects stayed off of the list. Clearly I can't prevent them from being nominated but it keeps the final table a bit cleaner if they're left off imo. I really dig "Mother Mary" though. As for a stats update, there have been 17 total responses so far. With American Idiot and Baron still assembling their lists and five days left, we'll be up to at least 19 by the end. Thanks again for everyone participating, it's been quite fun to tally all of the results.

Unfortunately, though I happily participated in the Foo Fighters poll, I have to abstain from this since there aren't ten Green Day songs I enjoy.

I mean; Green Day where huge on those at one time as well and many fans still remember them as pop artists too.. Also you get more participants. 17 seems so few for TOP Status group like Green Day or are most forum members just lurkers(observers)?

I think it's a pretty good turnout for something new, and if we're talking about the regular active Rock forum posters I'd say there's maybe 30-35 max (there are a lot of lurkers) so I'd consider it a pretty big success so far. I have the link the forum posted in my signature, and the thread has been getting a lot of good responses so that keeps it at the top of the page if people happen to stop in. But yeah, I'd love to have this expand and have as many members voting as possible, but since it's still in the first few weeks I'm fine with the size. Maybe far off in the future we can revisit the Foo Fighters and Green Day rankings and see the differences if there are a bunch of new people or if the number of people voting is much larger.

My list is pretty evenly divided between big hits, less popular singles, and album tracks. Didn't include anything from the pre-major label days ("2000 Light Years Away" came close), or the last two four albums.

I just submitted my list after listening to Green Day all week. I felt bad leaving off gems like "Tight Wad Hill," "Deadbeat Holiday," some songs from the first two albums, and even "Boulevard of Broken Dreams." For a band like Green Day, I could do a Top 30.
