I thought this one was pandering slightly with the sports team shout-outs (even if Wolverines are in there; my sister goes to U of M-Flint), and I think they and the NASCAR numbers are disconnected a bit from the unifying theme. On the other hand, I like that unifying theme proper, because it attempts to find common ground and portray "country" as a positive thing without being boastful. That take on the theme has been done before ("Country", "Country Must Be Country Wide", "Hillbilly Bone"), but I agree with bksouthga's comparisons to "40 Hour Week", and Zazie's observation that Brad seems to be running out of ideas (although unlike him, I liked "Camouflage"). This isn't a masterpiece, but I wouldn't call it bad either.

This song really is perfect for fall. This is definitely my favorite single from "Moonshine in the Trunk", which has produced four at least-solid singles in my opinion.
On a side note, what's the reason why "When I Get Where I'm Going" is in the iTunes all-genre Top 100 right now?

For some reason, I was hearing this a LOT on the Jacksonville trip. I swear literally every station I listened to played it at least once.

I just wish it was performing better on the charts, but does anyone know which of Brad's singles took the most weeks to reach #1?
Thanks!

With the college football season now over (as of Monday night), I wonder how much longer this one can hang on? I guess the Nascar season is not far off, but "Country Nation" just wrapped up its 19th week on Billboard, and I think it's nearing the end of the road. Brad currently sits at #14 (high point is #13 from a couple weeks back), and I think that his biggest problem is low sales -- CN isn't even in the top 700 on iTunes, which is just awful Keith Urban and Randy Houser have moved ahead, and it won't be long before ZBB, Eric, and Carrie catch up. I expect both Blake and Tim to go recurrent this week, which would move Brad up to #12. I think there's a good chance that Jana Kramer will go recurrent two weeks from now (on Billboard), and Jason and LoCash should be falling pretty hard by then, too (Thomas will fall slowly, of course). Brad can maybe afford to get passed by 1 of the songs behind him, but if 2+ songs pass him, then I think his top 10 chances will be pretty low. Kelsea and Keith will replace Tim and Blake in the top 10, Randy will probably replace Jana in two weeks, and then the spots occupied by Jason and LoCash could theoretically go to Brad and ZBB, but that's only if they stay ahead of Eric and Carrie. I'm thinking that Arista will do a "max spins" push the last week of January, and try to eek out a top 10 peak. Or at least that's what I'd do, because I don't think "Country Nation" will last much longer. A top 10 peak would be a very solid showing for this one, especially considering it's low sales and the fact that it's the 4th and final single from the album.

CN isn't even in the top 700 on iTunes It's at # 689 actually, but your point remains. This and the Michael Ray and Chase Bryant songs are selling very poorly.=

Brad was back outside the top 700 of iTunes earlier this morning, lol. The sales for this have been pretty dreadful.
I would love for "Country Nation" to get into the top 10 since I love the song so much but it really doesn't deserve to be and should be falling right now, tbh.

He's so close that I doubt Arista will give up on it, but yeah, there doesn't seem to be much interest in this one at all. Two spots should open up this week (Tim and Blake), and then with Jason starting to fall, and possibly Jana Kramer throwing in the towel after this week's push, he may be able to get there if they keep it going for two more weeks. If he starts getting passed by ZBB, Eric Church, Carrie Underwood, etc., then I think it will be game over.

I'm pretty surprised by how poorly this is selling. I know Brad ain't what he used to be in terms of being an A-lister but this is seems like something that would've sold a lot better some years ago. I've never been crazy about it but musically it is quite lovely and I do enjoy the lyrics and melody for the most part. It's certainly not among my favorites by Brad Paisley, but it seemed like a solid single choice to me and I was sure it would've made a bigger impact than "Crushin' It," which, for me at least, is one of the worst singles he's ever released in his entire career. Granted that one likely squandered a lot of his momentum, but I'm still surprised this one is selling *that* poorly.

The odd part is that this didn't even sell that great during the thick of the season when it was even being used in some promos. Sometimes I have no clue why certain songs sell a lot and why others don't sell hardly anything, and this is definitely one of those instances.

I guess I'm not as surprised as others are about this not selling well, but that may be just because I don't like a single thing about this song. It's ridiculous how boring, bland, and generic I find this to be. Everything about it is- the lyrics, melody, Brad's vocals... it just is a very uninteresting and uninspiring song all the way around and it doesn't really pack a powerful enough of a punch to be captivating. It's not awful, just very forgettable.

Arista is running a "top 10 bound" ad in Country Aircheck this week: They won't make it to the top 10 this week, so maybe the goal is to have a "max spins" push for the top 10 next week (January 25-31)? That's what I guessed they'd do when I posted in this thread last week. Maybe Arista is listening to me! To no one's surprise, Jana Kramer is falling very hard -- she lost nearly 2.5 million in this morning's update alone. Aldean is also falling hard, although he "only" lost about 1.25 million this morning. At least one of those two will go recurrent, to be replaced in the top 10 by Randy Houser. But ZBB and Carrie have both jumped Brad on Mediabase now, and I expect they'll do the same on Billboard. If both Jana and Jason go recurrent on Monday, then whoever wins the ZBB vs. Carrie battle (I'm leaning towards Carrie) would get the 2nd available top 10 spot. Brad's gonna need some big gains next week, because he's done literally nothing this week. In fact, Brad's total Mediabase audience this week has been as flat as you can get. He was at 34.161 million on the 19th, he was at 34.161 million yesterday, and, lo and behold, he's at 34.161 million in this morning's update. I don't believe I've ever seen that before. LoCash should go recurrent on Monday, February 1, but their top 10 spot will go to the loser of the ZBB vs. Carrie race. Obviously Brad and Carrie are Arista label-mates so maybe they'll try to slow down "Heartbeat" for a week, but I really, really hope they don't. Arista really needs to quit doing that. Anyway, even if Arista tried to do that, I don't think it'd work. "Heartbeat" is moving too fast and "Country Nation" isn't moving at all. So right now I'm thinking that Brad will get held to a #11 peak. I just can't see how he'll get to the top 10 ahead of either ZBB or Carrie, and if he doesn't get there by the 1st, I don't think he'll get there at all. "Country Nation" is already on life support, and the big hits just keep on coming -- first it was ZBB and Carrie, and after them it'll be Eric and FGL. Brothers Osborne will start falling next week, but they won't go recurrent until the 8th at the earliest, and I expect Thomas Rhett will fall very slowly. In short, it just seems that Brad will need too many things to line up just right for him. So I'll predict that this peaks at #11 at the end of next week.

If Arista wants to hold on for one more week, then this week is the week to get "Country Nation" to the top 10...at least on Mediabase. "Die A Happy Man" and "I Love This Life" will go recurrent next Sunday and "Country Nation" landed at #12 this week. Brad's still 470 spins and 2.5 million in audience ahead of FGL and considering this week's gains were average for "Country Nation" (280 spins and 2.0 million in audience), it sets up for Sony to push this one last week for a top 10 finish.
I'm still quite flabbergasted how horribly this one sold. It frankly doesn't deserve a top 15 finish, let alone a top 10 finish.

"Country Nation" is top 10 on Mediabase this week, at #10.
Time to follow George and Tim's advice and "Let it go."

Yeah they got the MB Top 10 and there really is nothing more Arista Nashville can do. FGL is right behind Brad's tail, Cole Swindell and Brett Eldredge are also closing in fast. There isn't enough songs ahead of Brad going recurrent to really justify keeping Brad around. I won't be surprised if the label drops this song after this week.

IMO, this song didn't deserved to be a top 10! One boring song.

With today's update I can confidently say that "Country Nation" is finally done. Lost over 100 spins and around 300K in audience, yeah it's done.

Brad misses out on the Billboard top 10, remaining at #12 this week, and getting passed by Florida Georgia Line's "Confession".

Looks like Country Nation will be Brad Paisley's second #12 hit following Who Needs Pictures from 1999.

Brad fails to reach the top 10 this week as it goes recurrent. I have a feeling we will hear a new single from a new album. If we do get a 5th single though. I hope it's "Moonshine In The Trunk" or "4WP".

Next single is from a new album.
