Jennifer Lopez Will Be Honored With the 2019 CFDA Fashion Icon Award

After more than two decades in the spotlight, Jennifer Lopez has earned her place as a bonafide style icon. Now, she’s being honored by the Council of Fashion Designers of America for her worldwide impact on fashion.

The CFDA announced that Lopez, 49, is set to receive the prestigious Fashion Icon Award at the 2019 CFDA Fashion Awards in N.Y.C. later this year.

From her bold red carpet fashion choices (including her legendary Versace gown at the 2000 Grammys!) to her show-stopping onstage looks, Lopez has always been willing to push boundaries and take chances with her wardrobe. In addition to her red carpet domination, the star has also graced the cover of nearly every major fashion magazine worldwide, from Vogue to Harper’s BAZAAR, throughout her career – including the December 2018 issue of InStyle, which clearly proved that “I’ve taken care of myself, and now it shows,” as she told the magazine.

“Jennifer Lopez’s style is bold, uninhibited, and always memorable,” Steven Kolb, President and CEO of the CFDA, said in a release. “Designers, including many of our CFDA Members, love to dress her for both stage and private moments.”

CFDA Chairwoman Diane von Furstenberg said, “Jennifer Lopez uses clothes as a way to express confidence and power. Both designers and fans look forward to her fashion statements.”

Lopez will join a standout list of previous Fashion Icon Award recipients, including Beyoncé, Rihanna, Pharrell Williams and last year’s winner, Naomi Campbell.

The 2019 CFDA Fashion Awards will be held on June 3rd and hosted at the Brooklyn Museum.

Jennifer Lopez Reteams With STXfilms on Romantic-Comedy Co-Starring Owen Wilson

Jennifer Lopez is reteaming with STXfilms on the upcoming romantic-comedy “Marry Me.”

Kat Coiro is directing the film and Owen Wilson is in final negotiations to join the pic, which will likely shoot this fall. The script was written by John Rogers and Tami Sagher, with a rewrite by Harper Dill.

Lopez and Wilson both appeared in 1997’s actioner “Anaconda.”

The movie will mark the third collaboration between STX, Lopez and producers Elaine Goldsmith-Thomas and Benny Medina following 2018’s “Second Act” and the upcoming “Hustlers,” which is currently in production. The film was originally set up at Universal.

The movie is based on a graphic novel by Bobby Crosby and centers on a pop star (Lopez), who, moments before marrying her rockstar fiance at Madison Square Garden, finds out that he cheated on her with her assistant. She breaks down on stage and picks a random man (Wilson) out of the crowd to marry instead.

“We continue to have amazing experiences with Jennifer, Elaine and Benny with each film we collaborate on, and we’re thrilled that they wanted to work with STX again on this funny and endearing project,” said STXfilms chairman Adam Fogelson. “Owen Wilson is a hilarious and charismatic addition to the film, and the perfect person to play opposite Jen in a role that was quite literally made for her.”

Lopez, Goldsmith-Thomas and Medina will produce alongside Rogers. Willie Mercer, Alex Brown and J.B. Roberts will executive produce. STX’s Kate Vorhoff and Catherine Hagedorn will oversee production on behalf of the studio. STXinternational will handle international distribution and directly distribute in the U.K. and Ireland.

Lopez is represented by CAA, the Medina Co. and Hirsch Wallerstein. Wilson is represented by UTA and Hirsch Wallerstein.

I'm curious to know why she seems to be working with STX so much which is a relatively small company. Most of her recent films have been very small in budget and production. I'm so curious what's the reason behind this? I'm thinking it could have more to do with wanting control and production credits, etc, but it seems like she would be at a point of working with the larger companies.

Yes, more control + production credits. Plus a piece of the backend by keeping the budget low and turning a profit.

“Hustlers” was initially with Universal but creative differences fell through with the director and STX came in.

I just watched Second Act and tbh I enjoyed it a lot. It was nothing new at all, but I'd be lying if I said I didn't lol a bunch of times.
