Anyone peep the new EP yet? Yes. Vocally, it's stellar. Nothing spectacular about it, but "Painting Pillows" is something special. Like, really special. If they release one more single from this EP after "Next Boyfriend", it should be this. The other two, "Holding the Other" and "Road Less Traveled", are good, but really heavily-produced. They follow along the same line as NB, but to a louder extent. "Painting Pillows" is gorgeous, though. "Painting Pillows" NEEDS to be released. It's one of the most stunning songs I've ever heard, lyrically and vocally. It is so well written and well sung, just incredible. Other than "History", which I don't hate, there isn't a bad song on the EP. I could definitely do without "Holding the Other", but it's still a nice listen. I absolutely LOVE "Road Less Traveled", too; Lauren's vocals soar on that song, and it is very uplifting - definitely a nice listen. Lyrically, though, "Painting Pillows" is legend-status, no joke. And it's not just that, it's catchy as hell and vocally perfect. This EP is definitely a very nice sampling of Lauren as an artist; she is nothing short of a prodigy, in my opinion. She's gorgeous, one of the best vocalists in the genre, and an incredible song writer. If this girl doesn't make it big someday, then there's something incredibly wrong with the country music world.

"Next Boyfriend" is already showing over 200 spins and close to 1.0 million in audience on MB, so this should have a shot at debuting on Billboard. It will at least be in the New and Active section.

Honestly, love the whole EP. Lauren has really done a great job with this.

The melody in the chorus has been stuck in my head this past week. I really hope this ends up doing something. It's definitely one of my favorite country singles this past year.

It's a shame this song didn't have a good week as it barely gained audience at least it reached a new peak of #56. If there is one thing that really helped Next Boyfriend is that it got 3 more ads. So helpfully that and the apparent housecleaning that looks about ready to happen will realy help Lauren out.

Yet another disheartening chart run in a year full of them starting with a couple of legends named Jackson and Strait; welcome to the club Ms. Alaina.
That thunderous blow-your doors off voice of hers is a joy to behold; it's downright astonishing, plain and simple.
Country MDs and PDs from coast to coast should be ashamed of themselves for whiffing on this, and with the 2016 Mediabase chart year starting this Sunday, here's hoping that more standout tunes such as this will go much higher on the charts next year, but I'm not holding my breath.

I'm starting to seriously worry about this one. Big losses this week (-268K AI and -66 spins). That kind of AI loss for a song this deep in the charts (dropped from 53 to 55) often signals the beginning of the end. Maybe it's just a one-week glitch, but it also appears to be very flat on Mediabase this week among the 20 station leaders, so I'm fearing a downward trend. If so, it's a real shame. Lauren just doesn't seem to be clicking with radio, and I thought this song would be exactly the kind of thing they would want.
I'm hoping for a Billboard rally this week, but I have to say I'm losing confidence.

On Monday's Billboard update, the single dropped to #55 on the airplay charts. It was #53 last week. It did lose those AI & spins #'s this week that mikem posted.

Lauren's team need to give us a live tv performance before waiting at the last minute when the single's chart performance stops.

They can't walk and chew gum at the same time apparently. I understand the frustration with how slow Scotty and Lauren's singles are moving but to say that Mercury is "focused on Stapleton" is simply not true. Labels only send songs to radio if they feel they have enough staff in their promotion department willing to keep the single going. Stapleton's song is getting promoted but his song really only needed that CMA Awards night to get radio to jump aboard, full throttle -- its a rather unique situation. They're also working Easton and Canaan's singles to radio. Promoting so many singles at once can be a challenge for sure, but I can safely say that they're doing their absolute best right now with attempting to break Lauren's song. The song is only 6 weeks old and is close to getting into the Billboard and MB top 50. There's still plenty of time here. I'm not saying that it will become a hit but its far from doom and gloom.

I certainly feel more positive with this week's rally. My biggest fear was that last week's decline would start to steamroll and the song could be gone before it had a real chance. That appears to have been averted for now. We'll soon be in the midst of that strange Christmas music interlude where radio play and the charts get a bit out of kilter.

This song continues to go absolutely freaking nowhere. Lauren has basically gained very little in audience since right around the CMAs and I'm starting to believe Next Boyfriend is gonna get lost in the pack as it's getting buried by new releases. "Next Boyfriend" will be going on Week 11 and it hasn't even gotten into the Top 50 yet. I really do want to see Lauren succeed but I don't think this song is meant to be her big smash hit. I still believe it'll come.

I don't think anything is happening behind the scenes. I think Scotty and Lauren problem there's just way too many artists right now in country music and Lauren only has a successful radio tour backing her while all Scotty has is two Top 10s. Both artists better regroup in 2016 and come back when the release schedule might clear up.

If there was one sort of saving grace sort of thing this week for Lauren is that her Christmas losses weren't too bad for her section of the chart. Lauren Alaina has stacked up a lot of weeks but her song did just re enter the Hot Country Songs. So that should mean the label is still behind this song. Some good news also for Lauren is that up ahead on BB there's a lot of songs looking ready to leave or should leave in the coming weeks ( Gonna, Pain Killer, Top Of The World, I Got The Boy, Burning House, Yup). So if Lauren can get some adds heading into the new year there might still be time. I can really see this going either way.
