I've never been a big fan, I mainly listened because I really like "Done For Me." The album is just eh, the main issue I have is with his voice. This current crop of male singers, I swear to God... one textureless, flat voice after another, Bieber, Charlie, Troye, almost every member of OD. Like when is a halfway decent male singer going to pop up? The production sparkles every now and then and occasionally a hook pops up, but his voice is so f**king monotonous. I probably won't revisit this outside of one or two tracks.
Good on him for giving Boyz II Men a chance to shine. And isn't this guy an undercover Trump supporter? Why in the hell is he singing a song like "Change"? Outside of the fact that the song sucks, that kind of sentiment coming from him is downright laughable. And he should never try to be sexy again, he cannot pull off a song like "Empty Cups."

The Way I Am Attention LA Girls How Long Done for Me Patient BOY Slow It Down Empty CupsThis is a total 180 from his debut album for me; he’s like a new-gen Phil Collins and I’m here for it! Crisp production, clean melodies and catchy hooks for days; Pop album of the year so far! Are those the songs you like? Because album has 13 songs

First Impressions:
1. Very solid melodies and chord progressions throught.Lots of big vocal jumps and chromatic chords. Much closer the styles of the 80s and 90s that what is popular today
2. The production is fantastic. Really simple but well done, and the simlicity helps the grooves and melodies stand out
3.With the groovy, funky feel he really stands out from his peers
On the negative side
1: The slow songs are the definite weak points of the album. They just dont stand out melodically or lyrically
2. Charlies thin high falsetto gets old pretty fast
3. The lyrics are for the most part weak, no worse than most pop artists, but still weak
Overall Id give it a 7/10
Best songs: The Way I am Attention How Long Patient Somebody Told Me Empty Cups

He is so incredibly basic vocally and his music is plastic.

I've never really seen a Charlie Puth interview, but this was pretty great. Truly made me like him as a person and it was nice to learn about the album (which I haven't listened, but definitely makes me want to check it out).

The difference in quality from Nine Track Mind to this is mind blowing. The production and instrumentals really surprised me with how good they are on many of the songs. He isn't the best singer in the world but most songs aren't too vocally demanding so it's handled well, and where the songs are more demanding vocally (like on BOY) the vocal production helped him out without being obvious. My favourites here are The Way I Am, Attention, How Long, Done for Me and Slow It Down.

Charlie Puth's 'Voicenotes' Is Already Eligible For A Gold Certification In The U.S.Songwriter and pop/R&B crooner Charlie Puth joins the ranks of Cardi B and Post Malone this week, as his sophomore album, Voicenotes, is already eligible for a Gold certification in the United States. The album, which came out Friday, owes its immediate success to the popularity of its pre-release singles, namely "Attention" and "How Long." The former peaked at No. 5 on the Billboard Hot 100 in August 2017 and has been certified 3x Platinum by the RIAA, while the latter peaked at No. 21 and earned a Platinum certification. Because 10 track units equal one album sale, those two singles contributed more than 400,000 units toward Voicenotes' cumulative sales figure before the project even dropped. Additional sales from follow-up singles "Done for Me" and "Change," along with initial album streams, should account for the remainder, earning Voicenotes its Gold plaque upon submission to the RIAA, according to Chart Data. The certification should vindicate Puth, who delayed the release of Voicenotes from early 2018 in order to make last-minute adjustments. He had already proven himself a dependable hitmaker with his previous singles, including the Selena Gomez-assisted "We Don't Talk Anymore," which peaked at No. 9; "One Call Away," which peaked at No. 12; and "Marvin Gaye,"his debut single featuring Meghan Trainor, which peaked at No. 21. Yet all of Puth's solo singles pale in comparison to the gargantuan success of his Wiz Khalifa collaboration, "See You Again," off the Furious 7 soundtrack. Recorded as a tribute to the late Paul Walker, "See You Again" spent 12 non-consecutive weeks atop the Hot 100 — tying the Black Eyed Peas' "Boom Boom Pow" and Eminem's "Lose Yourself" for the most weeks at No. 1 for a rap song — and its video boasts more than 3.5 billion YouTube views. As with Cardi B's Invasion of Privacy and Post Malone's Beerbongs & Bentleys, the pre-release figures from Voicenotes won't count toward its first-week sales total. But with several positive early reviews and popular singles, the album should reinforce Puth's staying power all the same.

I’m curious to see what his projections are.
Nine Track Mind debuted at #6 with 65k SPS/47k sales.

WOW I am so in love with this record!!! After pushing the release date back a couple of times, I have to say it was definitely worth the wait. I mean some of the best, CLEANEST, CLEAREST production I've heard in a long time. And a collection of really great songs. This is a record Charlie Puth can be very proud of, and it has brought me on as a full-time fan.

Nine Track Mind debuted at #6 with 65k SPS/47k sales. Projected to debut at #5 with 53-58k SPS (35-39k sales). Also waiting to see if this pops up on Metacritic considering NTM is one of their lowest rated albums ever. :kii:

Decided to give this a curiosity listen. I don't think I ever made it all the way through NTM. Anyway...good job, Poof! The only songs I don't care for are Change and Somebody Told Me. They definitely picked the best singles from the album, but I would say go with The Way I Am and end with BOY or Patient, if they get that far. I am actually impressed though.

Damn this album is good. The song with James Taylor is a bit lame...and I'm a huge fan of his. Otherwise, every song sounds like a hit. I agree "The Way I Am" should be next. "BOY," "Slow It Down," and "Somebody Told Me" could all do very well though

Y'all aren't here for LA Girls? It sounds like an instant hit to me. His lyrics make him seem like a sheltered, privileged, entitled kid, but I really respect his musicianship. I enjoyed a good amount of the album.
