Joe Nichols - Real Things (Target) Miranda Lambert - Crazy Ex-Girlfriend (Target)
I've mentioned this before, but physical store-exclusive bonus tracks are pretty much my biggest music-related pet peeve. The extra tracks are almost always limited to initial release copies, which means over time those copies often become extremely rare. While some bonus-track editions of albums can still be found easily and cheaply, many fetch an extremely high price on eBay/Amazon, if they're available at all. The end result is that those songs basically disappear into the ether, unless in the unlikely chance they're resurrected on some kind of "rarities" album down the line.

The bonus tracks are usually totally worth getting too! I very seldom encounter bonus tracks that are not immediately in the top 75% of the album quality-wise! Which makes it suck even more when you miss the opportunity... My big pet peeve is iTunes pre-release-only bonus tracks... At least with store-specific copies you can still find them floating around eventually, but with the iTunes pre-release bonus tracks, as soon as the album is released they just disappear forever unless you pre-ordered the album. Martina has done that 3 times, with her Timeless, Waking Up Laughing, and Shine albums, all before I ever started using the iTunes store... I never found out until after the fact, so she has copies of "Let It Be Me", "Blue Bayou", and Phil Collins' "I Can't Stop Loving You" floating around that I cannot find ANYWHERE!!! That is my tragic story :( So now I am extra vigilant and always make sure I know whether an album has a bonus-track-version released somewhere before I go purchase it.

The itunes thing is downright evil. I can see offering the bonus track for free as an incentive to pre-order, but at least put it up for sale when the album is released. Same here to your last sentence. Imagine if other media did this, like if movies had different scenes or were longer depending on which movie theater you saw it in (I hope I'm not giving them any ideas). It's insane.

Didn't you hear? If you buy the new Harry Potter book at Costco, you get 3 additional chapters! (Not actually. I was just creating an example that would bring horror to everyone who ever considered buying a book anywhere else...) Edit: Disclaimer: There is not actually a new Harry Potter book coming out. Nobody freak out. It's okay!

I don't remember the Miranda Lambert's "Platinum" (Walmart Zinepak) being any different...which songs have I missed?
Honestly having an album with only 10-12 songs and then releasing a few different bonus track on different platforms (target, iTunes, etc) annoys me, because either you buy essentially the same album 2-3 times or you don' get all the bonus track and if you only have 10-12 song you can probably add a few to the "normal tracklist" without much trouble.

Keith Urban has had a lot of these
Be Here ”You (Or Somebody Like You)" - Australian CD exclusive Fans got it on eBay or Sanity (Australian retailer) which shipped internationally. Worth it because it should have been on US release
Love, Pain & The Whole Crazy Thing ”Slow Turning” - iTunes exclusive ”Gotta Let It Go” - fanclub website exclusive
Defying Gravity ”Call My Name” - iTunes exclusive
Get Closer Target Deluxe Edition ”Big Promises” ”The Luxury Of Knowing” ”Winning” ”Once In A Lifetime” (Live) ”You Look Good In My Shirt” (Live) ”Better Life” (Live) ”Everybody” (Live)
My biggest pet peeve with exclusive bonus tracks is a lot of times they don't release preview clips of those specific songs to know whether or not it's worth it to buy the more expensive version. It hasn't happened in a long time for a country artist but I had a ridiculous time trying to get James Taylor's last Target deluxe cd. I was only interested in one track which was a cover but I was obsessed with finding it. Never did until the Japanese version came out which was the same as the Target ”exclusive” and I found it used online for a reasonable price. Funny thing is the cover was just okay but it was another bonus track I ended up loving!

I was rereading this thread, and I see I misread your post. I thought you were still talking about Windy City for some reason. I must have been really tired that day... Anyway, the Target bonus track for Real Things is a song called "When I'm Hurtin'."
