This was released in 2006 as the first single from her debut album, "Headstrong," released on Warner Bros. Records. It got some love at Z100, but it didn't even make the top 50 at CHR/Pop. However, it did peak at #80 on the Hot 100, thanks to digital downloads. I thought this was a good pop song. It reminded me of Mis-Teeq's "Scandalous." There was no official video filmed for the song, but Warner Bros. serviced a live version from the High School Musical tour to television.

The singles were so confusing during the Headstrong era. "He Said She Said" was released in early 2006 with "Headstrong" as the b-side, then it was re-released with "Be Good to Me" as the b-side instead, but then they decided to cancel the full release of "He Said She Said" and focused on "Be Good to Me", and club remixes were commissioned for both around the same time. I think they tried pushing "He Said She Said" again after the album came out with a video but it had completely different lyrics.
Of the two songs, I always enjoyed "He Said She Said" more, but I liked this one a lot too. Her album sounded like it should have come out in 2000 around the time of Oops!...I Did It Again. That means I loved it, but it wasn't the right sound to try to make her a pop star with at the time for sure. Her 2009 follow up album, which emulated 2004 Kelly Clarkson, didn't help matters either. It's actually kind of funny how behind the times she was with both releases.
Oh, and the Jack D. Elliot remix of this was fire.

Her album sounded like it should have come out in 2000 around the time of Oops!...I Did It Again. That means I loved it, but it wasn't the right sound to try to make her a pop star with at the time for sure. You know I was just thinking about this, and how it's always perplexed me as to what their goal was by releasing Headstrong in that style in the year 2007. I'm infinitely thankful they did because I'm obsessed with teen pop, but from an objective, commercial point of view... perplexing. BUT a possible explanation just occurred to me. Could it have been perhaps they estimated that Ashley couldn't convincingly pull off a more current sound in 2006/07, which would have been Nelly Furtado/Timbaland, Fergie, Pussycat Dolls, Rihanna's first three albums, etc.. After all, Ashley Tisdale's voice and personality are just so disneyish and bubblegum. Maybe they thought she couldn't pull off that slightly more mature, rhythmic pop sound?
