Can someone explain the Hot 100 tabulation periods for streaming, sales, and AirPlay? How will releasing this on a Friday fall into each of those?

Can't wait to see the iTunes lead. Debut at #1 and break to vevo record please! Her airplay gains will likely be huge too, omg cannot wait! I assume the song is out everywhere 12am onwards from UK/GMT time as it isn't out in Australia/New Zealand yet.

Didn't RITD go Top 10 on Urban? Lmao So will the song be available to purchase at midnight EST? Somewhat surprisingly, no; it only peaked at #61 on r&b/hip-hop songs (this was before the genre charts were revamped, so that was solely airplay). Probably all UAC spins with no label push behind it. |

Can someone explain the Hot 100 tabulation periods for streaming, sales, and AirPlay? How will releasing this on a Friday fall into each of those? Airplay is now tracked from Monday to Sunday; streaming and sales are tracked from Friday to Thursday. So a full week of sales and streams, but just three days of airplay if she is also sending it to radio tomorrow. No airplay for the first week if she waits until Monday to send it to radio. |

My iPod must be able to sense her presence because the first song that it shuffled to was Someone Like You (Performed Live in Her Home), which to me is twice as epic as the album version. I had forgotten what a masterpiece it is.

This is an unexpected and pleasant development! First there had been rumors that it won't be out until next year and those rumors were circulating just a couple of weeks ago, but suddenly we have a concrete release date for the first single and its video and the album within such a short time. I like that the teasers for the first single surfaced just a week or so before the actual single release because sometimes it can be too much to tease it for too long in some cases. In Adele's case, people have been ready for a long, long time. And it's Adele. You don't need teasers. You know it will slay.
I am prepared to be overcome by the holy spirit of Adele.

Yesterday I was downloading songs by an artist I like and he had a song called "Someone Like You", which turned out to be an Adele cover lol. |

I might be wrong, but I think that only counts for songs that are released through the pre-order that goes automatically to people's libraries. Since this is released with the pre-order, it counts as a direct buy, whereas (if there are any) instant grats released afterwards won't go towards its single sales. That was probably really confusing lol |

Someone Like You is my favorite Adele song and is what turned me into a believer last era. I would LOVE anything in that vein.

It was, however, instituted ahead of the Out Of The Woods release, which is why that song debuted with 195,000 rather than the 300K+ that would have been expected of a Taylor Swift instant grat. That said, there's a reason why I used the word "supposed" in my post. There is too little transparency -- and too much history of weird sales reporting (The Weeknd's complete my album deduction coming the week BEFORE the album dropped, Ellie's Thursday On My Mind sales counting toward the subsequent tracking week, Carrie's Smoke Break selling 56K but charting higher on Digital Songs than tracks that sold over 60K, etc) -- for me to treat a rule as 100% definitive. |

It's funny, if it weren't for pulse, I'd have no idea ADELE was releasing new music - at all. OC, media will be all over this when released, but I don't think the gen pub, which ADELE has a huge mass market appeal, is aware YET. Praying this is more RITD/SFTR than SLY/CP.
