Maggie Rose - "I Ain't Your Mama" Still a terrible song with a lyric that makes no freaking sense. Anyone wanna tell me how the hell "I ain't your mama" is supposed to connect to "I'm puttin' on pearls, I'm puttin' on pumps, got a little lace apron on me"? I heard "This One Makes Me Hurl" by Martina McBride and "Who's That Man" by Toby Keith in Walmart today.

Anyone wanna tell me how the hell "I ain't your mama" is supposed to connect to "I'm puttin' on pearls, I'm puttin' on pumps, got a little lace apron on me"? Obviously mamas wear aprons (well not all of them, but it's an easy connection), and I take the pearls and pumps to be that she's dressing up to look sexy. Pearls are kind of a classier event type of thing so I could see them being an item a "mama" would pull out when she's going to go out and show herself off with her girlfriends or something. I certainly wouldn't expect a young unmarried woman without kids to reach for pearls first when she goes out. She's basically just dressing up to tease him. I've seen you post this opinion on the forum more times than I can count and I never understand it. I think the lyrics make plenty of sense, lol.

I guess I just don't get the connection between her being sexy, and her playing the "mama" card so much in the song. It all feels very Oedipal, like the dude WANTS to have the hots for his mom or something.

Twice now that I've been at Home Goods in the past month I have heard Sara Evans songs. The first time it was an album track from Born To Fly, Let's Dance. I couldn't believe it. I looked at my friend and said "This was my favorite album 15 years ago and this song was never even on the radio, weird that they are playing it." The next time I was in the same store I heard 'Perfect'. Oh, and right after perfect they played Gavin's version of 'Can't Stop Lovin You".

I think they've played just about every single of hers from Restless onward in the past few weeks. Even "Love You with All My Heart", which is a great song for putting people to sleep. I heard Mila Mason's Dark Horse in big lots few weeks ago. I LOVE that song, so get excited! Lucky. I don't think I've heard a Mila Mason song ANYwhere except my own playlists since 1998. That is an amazing song, I agree.

Willie Nelson's On The Road Again at Tim Hortons. While that song was playing a group of five people at a table next to me and myself had a discussion about Conway Twitty. It basically boiled down to me asking them if there was a bad Twitty song. They said no and I said there you go. Loved every moment of it.

What's wrong with "Slow Hand"? The song was a big pile of easy-listening cheese in its original form, and it didn't seem right for a Conway song.

I'm not familiar with the original, but Conway's version works for me personally. The production is a bit cheesy for sure, but the vocal is great and the chorus is damn catchy IMO. I can understand if you don't like it though.
