What songs do you feel speak to you the most? In that they seem to reflect something that really hits home for you. Here are some of mine:
* Brad Paisley, "Welcome to the Future" -- It praises technological and social advancement, which are subjects that fascinate me greatly. Even I wanted to play video games or watch TV in the car as a kid. I can't believe the positive changes that have occurred in my own lifetime.
* Brad Paisley, "Letter to Me" -- A promise that life will get better. I was a wreck at 15, and while I'm not entirely happy with who I am at 28 either, I still think it would've been nice to tell past me that things would improve.
* Miranda Lambert, "All Kinds of Kinds" -- A celebration of eccentric, colorful people. I like thinking about how no two people are exactly the same, and I love how this song celebrates being different.
* Eric Church, "Mr. Misunderstood" -- I WAS Mr. Misunderstood: a kid in the back of the class who didn't fit in, had different tastes than my peers, etc., and part of me likes to think that this song is a message of encouragement for people such as I.
* Kathy Mattea, "Standing Knee Deep in a River (Dying of Thirst)" -- I was horribly sheltered, naive, and unaware of the world as a kid, and I passed up countless opportunities that were literally right in front of my face: people who could've been peers to help me in times of need; possible girlfriends; et cetera.

"Letter To Me" was released when I was 17. Unreal timing. Others: * Dakota Bradley - "Won't Be Young Forever" (love the lyrics. I'm right at that age where I need to enjoy my youth now or it'll be too late) * Tebey - "Till It's Gone" (who they heck can't relate to this one? I just don't think anyone really appreciates the things in their lives until they're gone forever) * Blake Shelton - "The Baby" (I'm the baby of my family, no-brainer) * Darryl Worley - "When You Need My Love/Rushlow - "I Can't Be Your Friend" (personal experience but these songs are word for word true life)

"Missing Missouri" - Sara Evans (this song is a very comforting ode to my home state) "I'm Gonna Love You Through It" - Martina McBride (came out like a week after we found out my grandpa had terminal cancer :( ) "Don't Forget to Remember Me" - Carrie Underwood (in college now so in that transitional "leaving home" period though I still come home on breaks) "The House That Built Me" - Miranda Lambert (lived in the same house all my life, so I don't like imagining the thought of it ever being inhabited by someone else... would be so weird) "Don't You Know You're Beautiful" - Kellie Pickler (it's been a long road for me to feel "beautiful" and when this song came out while I was in high school I can say that I definitely didn't feel the confidence that I have now and I think this song/Kellie Pickler's bubbly light help[ed])
ETA: Also, "Landslide" - Dixie Chicks (picked this song for my dad's funeral two years ago and now this song is a bit more special to me than it ever was before)

Kacey Musgraves' "Somebody To Love" is definitely the last song that spoke to me very deeply right at the first minute I heard it! I always struggled to understand my true self and separate that from the "golden boy" character I created to please others and ultimately to fit in. The song sort of "deconstructs" most people's personality I guess, but every time I listen to it I think she's describing me and assuring me I'm not the mess I constantly think I am, and that I'm just as complicated and complex as everybody else.

But for real:
Don't Blink - Kenny Chesney People Are Crazy - Billy Currington I Won't Let Go - Rascal Flatts My Wish - Rascal Flatts Chillin' - Blaine Larsen

On a serious note, We Can't Be Friends by Joanna Smith and Address in the Stars by Caitlin and Will are SO literal and I feel like I have felt everything both of those lyrics feel.
On more of a fun side, definitely Stone Cold Sober by Brantley Gilbert. I am a little interesting intoxicated haha

Martina McBride - Anyway. Simple yet powerful
Chely Wright - Picket Fences. I've always loved that song, and when Chely came out I realized that we were in the same place. I had my reasons to relate so much to the song, and when she came out, bang, our reasons are the same.
LeAnn Rimes - What I Cannot Change. This chorus is like a chant to me.
Kacey Musgraves - Merry Go 'Round. Aka my biography lol. I remember the first time I listened to this song, back in 2012, and how it hit home. Having lived in a big city and then moving to a small town, and the song speaks up about a lot of things that I had noticed through the years.
Sugarland - Joey. One of my best friends died in a motorcycle accident just days before they announced it as a single. Although the song has a love context, I can help but think about him every time I listen to it.
I could go on and on forever! I'm a really sensitive person, so it's not that hard to touch me real good haha Honorable mentions to Ashley Monroe's Used, The Wreckers' Tennessee, The Bandy Perry's Lasso and Whitney Duncan's Since, but I won't talk about my poor broken heart lol

Hope it's okay if I bump this!
Alan Jackson - When God Paints (can't really relate to it specifically, but a beautiful message that I find really moving)
George Jones - She Loved a Lot in Her Time (my mom is still alive, but otherwise she is just like the narrator's mother)
Kris Kristofferson - Chase the Feeling
Sammy Kershaw or Tim McGraw - Better Than I Used to Be
Jake Owen - Startin' With Me (is there anyone who can't relate to this and the above song?)
Robert Earl Keen - Who'll Be Looking Out For Me
Rodney Crowell - Grandma Loved That Old Man (with a few minor adjustments, perfect description of my paternal grandparents)
Tom T. Hall - The World The Way I Want It

"Grandma's Garden" - Zac Brown
This is Zac's contribution to Dave Cobb's Southern Family and it perfectly reflects my Grandma and Grandpa. They've both unfortunately passed, but one of the things I remember and love the most about them was all the time they spent gardening in their backyard. Grandpa would spend all day in the garden working on his tomatoes and cucumbers and peppers and everything else. Grandma would help him often and she would incorporate all their vegetables into her great meals. My Grandpa worked as a carpenter his whole life so his hands were in really poor condition, but he still labored out there and still actively did what he was passionate about. He's the toughest man I've ever known.
The song makes me think about how much I learned from them and how big of a difference they made in my life. My high school was right by their house, so I'd always stop by just to say "Hi" and spend some time with them. They taught me so much and I hope they knew that. God, this song hit me like a ton of bricks when I first heard it.

That post by zjames made me wish more people posted in that "Stories About Anything Country Music Related" thread. I actually wasn't sure which thread to put it in. There's definitely some overlap there. But sharing stories is probably my favorite thing to do on Pulse. I should definitely do it more often.

"I'm Moving On" - Rascal Flatts - I gave my brother SO much crap when he bought their debut album. Fast forward when they released this just as my marriage was blowing up & I had to swallow my pride and ask to borrow it. He still hasn't let me live it down.
"Tell 'em I've Gone Crazy"- Ed Bruce - Again , this song was pretty much the soundtrack to my divorce. Just a deeply personal tale of dividing up the friends after a divorce.
"See You There" - Joey Martin - Completely different circumstances , but still reminds me of losing my oldest brother.
"Sunday Morning Coming Down" - by anyone BUT Johnny Cash - This song takes me back to my first apartment and all the crazy stuff me and my friends did there. Id wake up every sunday morning with a terrible hangover and walk to the corner diner and the church bells would be ringing. To this day I still think of those sunday morning walks when I hear this song.
"My Heaven" - Andy Griggs - Being agnostic / atheist , its sometimes hard to find music that soothes the soul about death. This one does it for me.
"I Just Don't Give A Damn"- George Jones - I've lived this one more than a few times and when I get in that mood , I still thumb through my ipod to find it.
"I Just Don't Love You , That's All" - Terri Gibbs - Sometimes , you just wonder if you should have zigged when you zagged on past relationships.
"I'm Alright"- Steve Earle - I used to have an itty bitty drug problem . This song was my anthem when I finally found my way out of that mess.
"Don't Ask Me How I Know" - Bobby Pinson - Pretty much my life condensed down to a 4 minute song.
"Please Don't Tell Me How The Story Ends" - Ronnie Milsap - Kris Kristofferson truly is a poet , nobody has ever captured the devastation of a dying relationship better. And I don't believe Ive ever ended a relationship without obsessing over this song for awhile.

Another one to me is "People Are Crazy" by Billy Currington. I remember seeing the video for this song at my grandma's, and she said it was one of the few modern country songs that she liked. She was always a bit eccentric -- crazy if you will -- and passed a lot of it down to my mom. I lost grandma in March 2012, and ever since, that song has only grown all the more meaningful to me with its celebration of the eccentric.

I just listened to Darryl Worley's I Miss My Friend a few hours ago. It reminded me of three people who mean the world to me that have all but disappeared from my life.

"Flies On The Butter" by Wynonna. It reminds me so much of growing up and visiting my great grandmother/great aunt, and just how much simpler things were (seemed?) as a kid.

Cole Swindell - "You Should Be Here"
I know many aren't a fan of him, but that one gets me every time. I had to straight up avoid it for months after my grandma suddenly died last October. If I even heard the first few notes, had to change the station. Finally gave in one day and let it out. Hits home big time.

Lauren Alaina "Holding the Other"
The reason why is that I believe that I can set myself to do anything as long as I have someone else with me to go along with it. It's why I always hope for the best book matter what!

I didn't become a country fan until 2014 (although I did listen to country before then from time to time) so the songs are pretty recent.
"Fast" - Luke Bryan I'm almost about to hit a transitional stage in my life and I'm actually really scared about how fast time flies, and this song just hit the spot I guess.
"Smoke Break" - Carrie Underwood I didn't appreciate this song to the level that I do now when it was being promoted as a single, but last fall when I was taking a break from Pulse I grew to appreciate this song so much. I was so busy and stressed all the time, and even though I don't particularly like drinking (and I don't smoke at all), I felt like Carrie was singing exactly how I was feeling at that time.

Wynonna - "Things That I Lean On" (rewrite a few lyrics, and this is almost autobiographical, haha) Mary Chapin Carpenter - "Only A Dream" Reba McEntire - "I Wouldn't Go That Far"
Tons more I'm sure that I can't think of right now
