Mainstream will forget but hip hop will not. No matter how many scantily clad/bikini shots she releases.

Didn't hurt Jay's career.

Nicki's current credibility doesn't even compare to Jay's at the time. People are more fixated on Nicki Minaj the popped ass than 2017 Nicki Minaj rap skills.

I have heard the Jay comparisons. I don't see it. Jay was bodied by Nas with "Ether". The most iconic diss track of all time. Rap fans still remember it till this day, Remy's diss was birthed from it. But Jay thrived on putting out hit after hit and became the bigger legend than Nas. Yeah, Nicki doesn't have Jay's creditbility, but does any female rapper? It's a male dominated industry. Rap fans have never given female rappers their proper respect and always assume they don't write their own music. However, Nicki is the biggest female rapper of all time and has a crossover fanbase. Her career won't stop as long as she puts out good music.

Prepare for a YM 3Peat w her verse about Remy & Kim, Drake about Meek (or someone new if that happens), and Wayne about Baby.

Nicki is bigger than Missy? Lol. Absolutely. I think "Lol. Absolutely." is a stretch. I'd say it's debatable. But you can reasonably make that claim and get away with it.

Nicki is bigger than Missy? It's the lack of actual commercial competition. As far as standing out at their breakthrough goes, Missy is probably the only female rapper that was more of an anomaly than Nicki during their respective breakouts (though one could make a case for Kim), but technically she had direct competition from other contemporary female rappers at that time. They didn't present themselves in the unique way that she did, but they very significantly marketed towards the same crowds and outlets. Nicki doesn't really have any direct competition racking charting features and even having a fanbase big enough to regularly keep them on the charts.

I keep hearing Jay-Z this, Nas that, "Ether" this. Let's make one thing clear, Nicki isn't Jay-Z. And more importantly, Remy Ma sure as f**k isn't Nas. Is the diss track juicy? Of course it is. Especially for people who thrive on petty like myself. But Remy Ma doesn't matter. The same way getting dissed by a nobody like Azaelea Banks or Iggy in the long run wouldn't matter. I don't think Nicki should even address it, she doesn't need to get Remy any more attention. In a week or so, people will go back to forgetting Remy even existed, no need to drag this out.

Well Missy is more than a rapper, se's a writer, producer and visual artist. That's why they can't even be compared imo.
Nicki is a rapper first and foremost. Her not responding to a diss track makes her look weak, not to mention how pressed she was on social media before she started fronting that she didn't care. She's posting pics that are related to everything but her being a rapper and she's basically being a socialite at Fashion Week while the world laughs at her.

Do people take Nicki that seriously though? Maybe that's the disconnect, I don't think people do.

And IMO that is where it ends. It will be interesting to see how this plays out.

At the end of the day, who cares if Nicki Minaj has lost what little respect she had as an emcee? As long as she is unbothered, stays booked, gets paid to sit at fashion shows, remains employed, and has more jobs than phaedra, that's all that matters to me!

I can't believe she pussied out with her loud ass mouth The more I think about it, I'm not that surprised. She literally always goes after easy targets or people who she knows her core won't back anyway. The only reason she got away with the Lil Kim mess is because people were already making fun/dragging Kim for her looks so when Nicki did it, it was more of a KI. Plus she was just starting to become hot to the world. She kickstarted the Iggy downfall with her swipe at the BET Awards. Until then, and even after her performance on the show, she was pretty well-received. Iggy had been nothing but gracious to her, but she knew people she was an easy win in that situation. The only thing that surprises me is how weak she is- she spent all this time throwing subs at Remy and now that she responded, she's spending her time hitting up radio DJs, Trey Songz (I mean really...), trying to rally the Beyhive stans on her side instead of hitting back. It's hilarious seeing some say how she's "unbothered" or not stressing when you can tell by her behind the scenes action just how much this is eating at her. I only feel sorry for how how Meek "Meesha" Mill is going in on her. Setting her up to get robbed, liking shade and making fun of her lopsided cakes on IG...I listened to "Buy A Heart" a few days ago and you can tell just how hesitant she was about getting serious with him and I bet she's regretting every second of it now. Esp since she stood by him when the world was dragging him after the Drake L.

The text messages to Envy and Charlemagne are very telling...if anything she's got to be fuming that they revealed that information.

Nah, she is usually bothered by these things. She was definitely bothered when she tweeted Trey Songz and made a fool of herself.
