I hope they get things right on the marketing/promotional side of things. 10+ year Nicki fan here, but I want to add that I don’t think marketing/promo was the biggest issue with Queen. It was her attitude. The whole era reeked of childishness and desperation, which didn’t at all align with the “Queen” narrative. With Cardi exploding end of 2017, Nicki got super defensive and insecure. A natural, human reaction! But with IOP going #1 in April, Nicki acted like if Queen didn’t go #1 (even though it was her fourth album, and her first went #1) it would delegitimize her entire legacy. Instead of being open and vulnerable, she doubled down, which really turned me off. I just wanted her to chill out and be confident in her legend status rather than fighting with children on the internet. It’s only now that we have Megan, Doja, CG, Big Lotto, etc. that Nicki is finally getting her dues and I’m so grateful. She deserves it. The media was not kind to her or years and so I understand the defensiveness. She is above it in my eyes! |
