This album is so weird, it's simultaneously bloated af but somehow feels unfinished? It's an easy/fun listen though thankfully. But so many of the songs feel like sketches, the mixing/production is off and the samples are way too obvious IMO. It's serving mixtape. I just don't understand how such an incredible rapper has yet to serve a great album.

I do agree with the general consensus though. "Everybody" is a BOP and TikTok is calling. But I don't think radio would touch it. "Pink Friday Girls" is the easy pop hit.

I haven't trimmed it down to the 10 track, I went straight for the digital version. But looking at the tracklist, I think it's missing some of the highlights. I think it's safe to start with the digital version and trim it down to your favs.

Fully agree that it feels like a mixtape. It was such a weird listen, largely because most of the samples felt so lazy in comparison to the fun ones on the original PF. But maybe that’s the nostalgia talking.

“Everybody” and “Needle” are the hits. “Are You Gone Already” is a career low. I don’t hear what others are hearing in “Pink Friday Girls” but am interested to see if it’s a pop hit for her.

Mixtape is definitely the word I’d use to describe it. I don’t usually mind sampled work, so it wasn’t even that, it was just the quality of the samples and how well they were utilized– or weren’t in most cases.

It’s also just not an organic sequel to Pink Friday sonically. It’s like she just called it that for fun.

Because I'm a physical ho, I'm gonna barter with my friend and convince him to buy me the CD from Target in exchange for shrooms or a couple beers or something that's inconsequential to me. I already have my internet-savvy friends on the job looking for the files of the digital version to send to me. Meanwhile, I'm glad she at least warned us that this is basically a Life of deleted-style album where she is going to keep tinkering and nothing we are hearing now is a final product. Next Friday, I'll probably spring for the "final" digital version from iTunes or Amazon Music.

I see some crazed barbs giving reviews on Target's website and Twitter pretending that the physical version is not just 10 tracks and going on about how it's a masterpiece and album of the year, LMAO. Some are even claiming that the CD booklet is glorious, when...someone I know who bought the CD says there is no booklet to speak of. What a mess. I'm just glad I trusted my instincts and chose not to order the vinyl or CD from Amazon ahead of time.

My buddy bought me the CD from Target and I was able to find the whole thing on a blog, so I was finally able to Frankenstein this mixtape. Will listen to it at some point over the weekend, but I'm excited! Hopefully, she releases the final, complete album on CD or vinyl, so I can purchase it down the road.
