So, I know Nicki has always said things on her radio show and stuff, but I've never really paid attention to her (not a fan and not a hater of hers, so not really up to date on her antics). But, that Instagram video is wild. Is that the way she normally approaches things/scandals of hers? Because she just made herself look even worse than she already was.

While all this hoopla is funny and kind of ridiculous, the fact remains that a lot of people share the same thoughts as Nicki. All the furor over what she has said kind of underlines the hysteria in this country over the vaccine.

It isn’t a white thing, or a Republican thing; people from all political and racial backgrounds have different opinions when it comes to this. And if what you’re saying isn’t “I got the vaccine and you should too!” then expect to be labeled an anti vaxxer and all the stigma that comes with that.

There is an acceptable alternative to taking the vaccine. You can wear a mask and socially distance. But people don’t wanna do that either. That’s why vaccinated folks are angry and shaming the unvaxed. People just want to be reckless in a situation where their actions could literally kill someone. This isn’t hypothetical. This is real. Ask the 600k plus families that have lost people to this.

In regards to Nicki—she should’ve just said she hasn’t taken it or on the fence. She ain’t bank rolling no research firms. And she didn’t need to put put misinformation.

Exactly. The name calling, bringing her body or her husband up is totally unnecessary as well. IMO, she didn't necessarily say something wrong(ignorant if anything), it's all about perception(and yes, she's on huge platform)and how things are tweeted. Idk, I feel it's easier to educate than to slam, but , I get people love doing that.

And some people think they don’t *need* the vaccine because they have already had covid or they are young and able bodied people. Of course there’s crazies who think that the vaccine contains a tracking chip but that’s a small group of people.It doesn’t help that the CDC’s messaging has been abysmal on the vaccine front.

Okay, but the reaction Nicki is getting is not furor nor hysteria.  It's people checking a celebrity with a platform and influence from spreading ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS misinformation over a disease that is killing people.

From what I saw yesterday(or the last couple days) is that some OG Barbz, and Newer ones(who are most likely teens) were disagreeing with what she said and tried to educate her, while the others were enjoying the teardown. It was a sight to see.

off topic/on topic: when the vaccines were first presented, my mom, who is in administration at Children's Hospital Pittsburgh, was definitely yelling at me(well not yelling but you know)about NOT getting the vaccine. When in my mind, I was going to get it regardless cause I work with the public. After a month of increased cases, she did a 180 and encouraged me and my younger brother to get the vaccine, so I can understand the hesitancy Nicki has( I mean she was preggo a big part of last year, I'm sure Covid or vaccines weren't the main focus.) I'm not "caping", just giving my respectful opinion!

I think Charlamagne summed this up the best way. Instead of publicly lynching her, it could’ve been a teachable moment. They could’ve had an open dialogue like Nicki suggested and used her platform/influence for people to be able to ask questions freely without being attacked. That could’ve helped sway people into getting the vaccine instead alienate them further which is all the media has done in the way they’re going so hard after her.

The "hysteria" has nothing to do with her not getting vaccinated. It's the reasoning.

If she would have said something like "My cousin's friend in Trinidad died from the vaccine" that would be different. But the explanation is completely bonkers. First, because it's clearly something that's false. Second, because she's not a man. What does that have to do with her? Third, it's an anti-vaxx talking point: the vaccines cause infertility.

And that last talking point is a major factor in why some black and brown people aren't getting the vaccine. So, she might not be anti-vaxx but she's spreading the talking point (more than likely inadvertently).

But, also, if you haven't done enough research, don't say anything. Does she release songs when they're not finished? No. Same with opinions like this. Don't release them half-baked when the consequences can be someone's death. It's completely irresponsible.

Edit: Also, Joy Reid didn't just put anything in Nicki's mouth. Maybe it wasn't Nicki's intention, but everyone inferred her tweets the same way: right and left. If not, why are Tucker Carlson and Candace Owens embracing her?
