Pretty boring contenders so far. Hope things pick up in the remaining eligibility period.

I'm curious if the Bowie estate can maneuver the grief and goodwill into a AOTY win a year after his passing.
Oh, and Bryson Tiller for Best New Artist. I'll be livid if he doesn't get a nod after how wonderbread the category was last year.

"Piece by Piece (Idol Version)" for ROTY, SOTY, and Best Pop Solo Performance, please. She got a nomination with "Heartbeat Song" which wasn't a massive hit and it isn't as well-written as "Piece By Piece". So I think a Best Pop Solo performance is really possible. Unless this year gives us 10 huge & acclaimed pop hits.

I can see Zara Larson getting a nom for best new artist - she's going to blow up very soon. "Never Forget You" is taking off very well and her label will hopefully re-release "Lush Life" as it's became a massive hit all over the world and has been doing very well on streaming - currently #32 on US Spotify.

"Piece by Piece (Idol Version)" for ROTY, SOTY, and Best Pop Solo Performance, please. I would also accept "Tightrope (Tour Version)" for the same categories.

"Piece by Piece (Idol Version)" for ROTY, SOTY, and Best Pop Solo Performance, please. Would it be eligible for SOTY? I don't know the current rule for songs that came from an album already nominated in an Album category.

Well, "Thinking Out Loud" won SOTY this year despite X being nominated last year (for AOTY, no less).

I don't know why winning an Album award makes something ineligible, but being nominated does not. Either way I don't think the "Idol version" would be eligible for SOTY. It could ROTY and Pop Female, but I would think the original version would be for SOTY. Has a remix/live version ever gotten nominated in a Song category?

Winning an album award makes tracks from that album ineligible? You sure? That's surprising. The closest thing I can think of to that second query is the Darkchild version of Stay with Me winning SOTY in 2015, but that's probably a special case. I'm not versed on all the rules and regulations which can get confusing and probably prone to subjectivity along the way, but I'd think that any recorded remix or studio recording of a song remixed for a live performance (if that makes any sense) would be eligible for SOTY on its own.

I am definitely sure that once something wins an Album category, tracks from it are ineligible for everything except Record (unless a live version is submitted, of course! Lol). Apparently the reasoning is that the songs from it have already won. That's why something like "Boulevard of Broken Dreams" got a Record nod and nothing else. The rule seemingly only applies to Album winners, though, which I find odd. Using their logic, if an album had an Album nod, then songs from it have already been nominated. Good call on the "Stay With Me" Darkchild version. Maybe remixes can be submitted if they are the first/only version submitted. So, if "Piece by Piece" wasn't submitted this past year, then the "Idol Version" could now be submitted in all categories.

I was trying to find the answer to this yesterday and couldn't remember how it worked either, but Adele's "Set Fire To The Rain" got a GRAMMY win in the 55th Awards despite 21 winning in the 54th, but it was for the live version that appeared on Live At The Royal Albert Hall. I also remember several artists (though now, of course, I can't remember any definitive artists who got them nominated - thinking of Hozier, Walk The Moon, John Legend) who released acoustic versions of their big singles, but that may have just been because the originals were singles in the year before they blew up (e.g. "Shut Up And Dance" being released in Sept. 2014, but not blowing up until mid-2015, so the new acoustic version was eligible for nomination). I think the Adele situation is most similar to what's happening with Kelly - it's a new version that's technically on a newly-released set (I think the Piece By Piece Remixed EP, being longer than five tracks, should make it eligible) within the new eligibility period.
...But I could be totally wrong, so.

jenglisbe Kurt So Piece by Piece (the album) did not win any album awards this year, right? Cool cool. The original single was not submitted for 2016 and is actually eligible for 2017 (it was released as a single in late October 2015). So I'd say we'll see some kind of submission for 2017 for probably ROTY, SOTY and Pop Solo Performance, whether it be the original or the Idol version if possible. And that thing about album tracks not being eligible if the album already won an award. Why? Just why? I mean I kinda get it, but I think that's a bit unfair.

I wish they'd just institute a "best live recording" category. Remember when Beyoncé won best pop female solo for "Halo" and then was nominated the next year in the same category with "Halo (Live)"? Insane.
I think a live recordings category just makes sense... and that way you Kelly wouldn't have to be up against Adele next year. LOL

I get the logic behind the rule, and honestly I can go either way on whether I agree with it. Regardless, though, to me it doesn't make sense to make those tracks ineligible but still allow tracks from a nominated album to be eligible.

Bowie is the only one I can see holding Adele back for AOTY.

I'd like to see Janet pick up some R&B awards, but it's unlikely.

Record Of The Year Hello-Adele(obviously) 7 years-Lukas graham(read explanation below) No-Meghan Trainor(at the rate this song's chart performance is right now it wouldn't surprise with this song ending up nominated here) The Hills-The Weeknd(I know beauty behind the madness won for best urban album but knowing the Grammys they love surprises and monster after monster hits. This one in my opinion is no exception. I think this will be nominated here as well as best video, Hotline bling- Drake(to make up for not being submitted this past Grammys) Pillow talk-zayn(this could be the wildcard surprise nominee no one will expect) And if we add a collaboration in there it's either Work-Rihanna and drake or work from home -fifth harmony & try dolla $ign
