The Best & Worst Rock Songs of May 2016:
BestKurt Vile - Pretty Pimpin
Summary: One of my favorite rock tracks to chart this year, with some great instrumentation and lyrics. For that, it gets a
5/5Radiohead - Burn the Witch
Summary: Radiohead is back guys! Thom still sounds great, and the strings and build-up are great too. 4.5/5
Run River North - Run or Hide:
Summary: If Cage the Elephant traded vocals and had a harder sound, you get this song. 4.5/5
Tame Impala - The Less I Know the Better
Summary: There's no way I can do a list without Tame Impala, even if this isn't the best from Currents. Nice bass work. 4/5
KONGOS - Take It from Me
Summary: Sure, there are some parts that bug me in the song, and there's a WTF video (don't like the enlarged heads at all), but the song is still KONGOS sticking to their sound. 4/5
WorstRob Zombie - In the Age of the Consecrated Vampire We All Get High
Summary: Get high and listen to this track and see what happens. It's better than UFO, but it's still too noisy. 2/5
White Denim - Ha Ha Ha Ha (Yeah)
Summary: This has a nice soul vibe, but it's quite repetitive. 2.5/5
Escape the Fate - Remember Every Scar
Summary: The vocalist's vocals have always been whiny, and this is no exception. 2.5/5
Mumford & Sons & Baaba Maal - There Will Be Time
Summary: You come up with something not radio-friendly and weird, and it's bound to flop. 3/5
Pop Evil - Take It All
Summary: Decent, but there are still some cringe-worthy moments. 3/5
Honorable MentionsDREAMERS - Drugs
Summary: Despite the lyrics, I love the drums and guitar on this. 4/5
Holy White Hounds - Switchblade
Sumamry: If Beck and Highly Suspect combine, you get this awesome track. 4/5
Red Hot Chili Peppers - Dark Necessities
Summary: I never thought Danger Mouse's addition would still make this song still sound like RHCP. 4/5
blink-182 - Bored to Death
Summary: Blink are back, and even without Tom, the song's still pretty good. 4/5
City and Colour - Wasted Love
Summary: Dallas Green continues his trend of making sincere folk tracks. 4/5
Barely missing out are Joyride, Wish I Knew You, Death Dance and Fire.
