This song is great and all... But I thought it was gonna be Fire Away next for sure so this comes as a bit of a disappointment So I've been listening to the Highway again and they are playing the crap out of "Fire Away". Like a slap in the face to the label telling them they picked the wrong song??? Seems a bit odd they are going against the grain on a single release. I personally think Parachute is a better choice timing wise . They can always release "Fire Away" in the fall.

They've been playing "Fire Away" for quite a few weeks now and did play "Parachute" on their 'Horizon' show early in the year. I really don't think it's a slap in the face. They have no commercials and little advertising. They do what they wish. I'm hopeful they will add "Parachute" to their regular rotation soon.

"Fire Away" did get a lot of promotion with a music video released that I believe (not certain) dealt with mental illness and the fact that it got a music video and some promotion probably led to this air play...I'm not sure why it's still continuing with another song announced as the single, but oh well.

Because the Highway can and does play what it wants to play. Like sabre14 said, they don't have commercials. That means they have more time to fill and that means things like "On The Horizon" or "Highway Find" or other album cuts or "singles" for artists. That's what they're doing here. I suspect they'll play "Parachute" outside of "On The Horizon" in due time.

I was curious how many digital singles "Parachute" sold this past week, and overall. It seems Roughstock.com has discontinued posting single and album sales. Does anyone have a place to go for that now?

Renegade Radio Nashville (which is online only) is also commercial free, but they play a much better variety than "The Highway" ever comes up with. In addition, relativity unknown artists are interviewed on Renegade on a regular basis, to the point that I usually have to google who one is because it is a new name to me.

There's a fair amount of competition tomorrow but I expect "Parachute" to see a ton of adds. Chris' song is showing close to 20 starters. "H.O.L.Y." will be the most added but I'm guessing "Parachute" will be second.
Parmalee and Chris Janson are going for adds tomorrow, too.

^ Sure enough, "Parachute" is the second most added song on Mediabase this week with 57 adds on impact day. :)

Since Roughstock.com has quit reporting sales for Albums and Singles I have looked everywhere to find some website reporting but no luck. It would be awesome if someone had a new source or a link for sales. Thanks.

It would be awesome if someone had a new source or a link for sales. Thanks. The track sales for "Parachute" are probably somewhere between 30,000 and 40,000. It was at 29,000 at the end of February. It's the best-selling album track besides "Tennessee Whiskey" and "Fire Away", and these are hardly fair comparisons given that "Tennessee Whiskey" went viral after the CMA's and "Fire Away" has a video and has also received a lot of airplay on SiriusXM the last couple of months. Additionally, the title track (which was technically a single last spring) has sold about 140,000 simply because it's the title track. And his 2013 single "What Are You Listening To?" (which wasn't included on the album) has sold well over 100,000 copies since Chris' breakout performance at the CMA's in November. People are hearing Chris and they are responding. Many are buying Traveller as a whole and are also seeking out "What Are You Listening To?" because it's the only other solo material that Chris has released so far.

I'm aware that Wikipedia is user-generated, lol. And I believe rsmatto said Roughstock will start reporting sales figures again soon. Just keep in mind that there really aren't any places that publish weekly single sales numbers -- it's pretty much always been like that. We just have to wait until Billboard or some other source periodically reports sales totals for a given song(s) or album(s).

Hey folks, just a reminder from the original message from the ever-present reminder against posting unrounded SoundScan figures:
So yeah, just because they may appear on UKMIX or the like does not mean they can appear here without independent verification. If UKMIX is intended to be the "primary" source for the unrounded figures then posting the figures won't fly.

No raw numbers posted (which is what happens on RoughStock). Edit: So. Yeah, I didn't read this post properly. Said the same thing! HA! As for this song's sales so far, the estimate of 40k was spot on.

"Parachute" makes its top 50 debut on the Mediabase rolling chart today. Top 300 of the iTunes all-genre chart.

Just stopped in here to say this song is unbelievable. His vocals are ridiculous on this. This along with "record year" are my two favourite singles of the year.

Excuse me for working in another Stapleton story but I can't resist.
I covered the Buffalo Bisons game today in downtown Buffalo (Bisons beat Toledo, 7-5). Anyway, after the game, the media heads down to the clubhouse to interview the manager and a player or two.
While the 6 of us or so were waiting in between the Bisons manager walking off and the Bisons catcher to come into the interview room (we had to talk to him since he went 4 for 4, with 2 doubles) to be given questions, we overheard some Hip Hop music coming from the speakers in the clubhouse and the media guy next to me said "Ehh, I wish they had something else playing in there." I then said, "You probably want some Luke Bryan?" -- I said this because I caught this same guy lipping the words to "Country Girl (Shake It For Me)" during the 7th inning stretch in the press box, lol. He said, "Yeah I'm a Country guy; I like Luke's music for the most part." I then said, "He can sing some good ones but "Country Girl" ain't one of them, haha."
Everyone kinda chuckled.
Then a media guy across from us said, "Florida Georgia Line?" and the same guy muttered, "God no. I want to put a bullet in the chamber every time I hear them on the radio." -- I swear to God that's what he said, lol. Please don't take that as me taking the chance to berate FGL -- it was just what the dude said, I swear.
I then thought of the opportunity to mention Chris' name and hopefully some folks would agree with me. I said, "Put on some Chris Stapleton" and the same guy went, "YES! That's where it's at. Unreal talent in that guy!" Another guy said, "He is pretty damn good, I agree."
Literally made my day. :)

This song gives me Stevie Ray Vaughan vibes personally. The raspy vocals make it really sound like Stevie.
