When I first heard this song this morning, I just liked it. After hearing it about every hour, I am liking it more and more.
It's no "We Found Love", but this is a very good track. If this receives success, (I don't see why not) it is rightfully deserved.

Interestingly enough, many people here also called We Found Love basic when it premiered... Anyway, I listened to this twice at 6am and the pre-chorus/chorus has been stuck in my head since. It's going to be HUGE. :'( The day "We Found Love" premeried it completely polarized Pulse during that time. Many people just kept going ON AND ON about it being too simple and repetitive but I knew instantly it would become a classic for her. I don't feel quite the same about this track, because lets be real..the WFL's are rare so it would be unfair to compare the two. Overall I LOVE this track and is a simple pop song for the summer. It works.

Also this is NOT the best new Rihanna song to come out today. Her duet on the Drake album >

The first time I heard We Found Love, it was a 100% knockout for me. Granted I didn't know it would be as colossal or as long lasting as it was, but I instantly thought that singularly, it would be bigger than any of the Loud singles.
This is good on its own, but I feel that the chorus/drop should have something more...interesting? I'm a much bigger fan of the verses, both from her end and the production too. But I do agree that it's different enough so that each can stand on their own in that sense.
That said, this still has every potential to be a huge hit, and it's already #1 on iTunes in 35 countries, including the UK. Drake's album only being album-only for now will definitely help this out.

I miss the days when dance DIDNT rely on drops. Such a basic technique AMEN! In fact, I ironically find the drops difficult to dance to.

After a few listens, I really enjoy this song. I think We Found Love was better but this is definitely good too. This will end up smashing on pop easily.

I really like this!!
I think it will be #1 for 12 weeks on the Hot 100.
(I didn't think "Work" would go to #1, let alone for 9 weeks, so I'm just going to jump the gun on this one lol)

I love it how there's a big build-up, especially after the 2nd verse, which leads one to believe it'll have this massive EDM drop, but then it's something completely unexpected (at least for me), lmao. The drop works, though.

I really like this. The first time I heard it I was a bit meh, but listening to it with headphones on is an experience. Definite contender for song of the summer!

Why isn't this on Tidal? Calvin and Rihanna are two of the main Tidal artists.

It's funny because I feel that if things were switched and this was We Found Love instead, people would call it basic and call THIS better. LMAO

Ugh, I am so over this trend of repeating a word/syllable. It's lazy and unimaginative writing.

*With admittedly maybe some tempered enthusiasm, as nothing from Calvin post-18 Months has WOWed me all that much. Would love for that streak (such as it is) to break tho. The streak continues, I'm sad to say. :( This isn't really a bad song, but I'm not overly impressed with it.

TIWYCF simultaneously makes me realize that I actually did miss super-pop Riri, and extremely grateful that she didn't stick to being pop Riri. Anyone could have sung this and had a hit with it, given a sufficient label push. Rihanna has one of the most distinctive voices there is, but even as she manages to bring a bit of interest to this that might not have been there with someone else, she can't entirely separate the song from its inherently generic nature. I doubt this was written specifically with Rihanna (or anyone, really) in mind. But I enjoy it for the what it is, and wouldn't be opposed to Ri doing pop one-offs like this in the future.
WFL was lightning in a bottle (and the video treatment elevated the song to something far beyond the sum of its parts); that is something that is unfair to expect any song to duplicate right out of the gate. But this will certainly be a summer hit.

I thought How Deep Is Your Love was one of the few current pop songs by anyone I didn't like, for some reason. But I like this well enough. We Found Love is still the best thing either of them have done, though, for me.

Earlier it was asked what songs taylor has written for other artists . Aside from the Hannah Montana one and rascal flats she also wrote best days of your life by Kellie pickler which was a top 10 country hit
