Lana's first, and probably final, foray into mainstream pop radio was Cedric Gervais' EDM styling of "Summertime Sadness", off of Born to Die which was released well over a year before this remix made it to #6 on the Hot 100 and #3 on pop radio in Summer 2013.
While I love the remix, especially now that Summer is basically here, I can't help but be partial to the more haunting, elegant drama of the album version which might as well be a totally different song. The middle eight verse (which is omitted in the remix) is my favorite bit too.

I prefer the original. Good song.

I originally was obsessed with the remix but I heard the original at H&M and was blown away by that version. That bridge! Definitely was of her best.

I like this, preferably mashed up with Lorde's 'White Teeth Teens.'

The original is superior.

I like both versions, but I prefer the remix.

You know those songs that tie you to a certain time and place? This song is basically summer of 2012 to me. When that guy I was dating was moving to FL and that summer was our last hurrah. Ugh, love it. I don't use the remix though, even though it is good.

I love both. The remix is great, but the original is so cinematic that I can't pick one over the other.

Both versions are equally amazing and iconic. This is basically a classic, tbh.

Hate the remix but I'm glad it catapulted her into mainstream attention!

Still obsessed with this. Original > remix for sure, but both are delightful

I was all about the remix when this first came out but I have grown to love the original. The bridge is so gorgeous. I really wish it was used in the remix.

No use for the remix, but it was definitely cool getting to hear her on the radio.

For some reason, this re-entered the UK charts at #50 this week.

I decided to give the OG a quick listen, I'd still go with the remix, but it is strange that the bridge was removed, it was nice
