I can't believe these legends only have one #1 album. Hopefully this will be their second. Sales are good too all things considered.

Considering it came out in 91, I can't believe Blood Sugar Sex Magik "only" sold 4.9m. That album seemed huge...only of my favorite albums of all time, and definitely my favorite Chili Peppers album.

I can't believe these legends only have one #1 album. At least it was for their best album! Even though I bought I'm With You, I only really liked two songs from it. I bought this too on good faith and haven't got around to it yet but I plan on checking it out tonight.

"The Longest Wave" is probably my favorite 2010's song by them. Love it.

I've really been enjoying this album despite the not-so-awesome reviews I've read. I don't pay much attention to reviews of their albums, tho, because One Hot Minute is largely regarded as their worst... and it's my fave. Anyway, this is listenable from beginning to end for me, and has grown on me considerably after a handful of listens.

Josh has really fully integrated into the band now. I really dig this album. It was definitely time to switch things up and ditch Rick Rubin.

Isn't it 7x platinum? My figure was off; it's sold 4.4m as of 2003. And, yes, it is certified 7x Platinum but that's for shipments, not actual sales.

That over 2 million copies are still left unsold somewhere? Yes. There's also a chance they sold a good amount via BMG Music Club as it was still popular in the late 90s/early 00s. However, SoundScan doesn't count those album sales.

Not feeling Black Summer at all but John’s return (along with Rick Rubin returning as producer) has me excited so I'm confident I'll end up loving this album more than I did The Getaway (which I really don't revisit much).

I'm indifferent to Rick coming back, I thought DM did a solid job. And for a later career album, The Getaway felt surprisingly fresh (although it admittedly does fall apart in the last third). Glad John's coming back, although it's a shame to see Josh go, he really started to feel like a part of the band the last go round.
His pronunciation issues aside, "Black Summer" is nice (and a grower). Really looking forward to this, it feels like it's been forever.

Love Black Summer. It instantly made me smile and think, wow...the boys are back. I actually forgot The Getaway existed at all but now that I see the tracklisting again, I actually enjoyed that one. But, my GOD, anything is an improvement over I'm With You. I can't believe Rubin actually had a hand in that. I cannot recall how one single song goes. Either way, I am finally excited again. Maybe it was the lack of Frusciante that kinda soured me on RCHP. I used to be a HUGE fan. I only seem to like the albums he works on.

They better milk this album for all its worth. The worthy successor to Stadium Arcadium, which I still maintain is their best album, track for track. Anthony Kiedis's random lyrics will never cease to amaze me, but he is never changing. You either love these guys in all their glory or you don't. This is one of their best albums. The musicianship on display is insane. It's like the last two albums don't even exist.
Poster Child (Let's GOOOOOO!) The Heavy Wing (a masterpiece) It's Only Natural (WOWOWOW.) Here Ever After Black Summer Let 'Em Cry Tangelo One Way Traffic She's A Lover Whatchu Thinkin' The Great Apes (the title is ridiculous, but as a song, it's pretty much flawless) Not The One (It's giving Pink Floyd and I dig it) Veronica Aquatic Mouth Dance (I would love to know what this actually means, but damn what a groove! Flea's bass is so nasty on this.) White Braids and Pillow Chair Bastards Of Light These Are The Ways

I grew to love Poster Child, but I think a good follow up to Black Summer for radio is Here Ever After or It's Only Natural.

I can only assume they performed TATW because Anthony hasn’t memorized his newest soliloquies just yet lol

One Hot Minute: #4, 138k
Californication: #3, 189k
By the Way: #2, 289k
Stadium Arcadium: #1, 442k
I'm With You: #2, 228k
The Getaway: #2, 118k SPS (108k sales)
Unlimited Love: #1, 63k SPS (48k sales) *current projection*
Ecstatic they'll finally have another #1 album under their belt but sad that their six-figure first week streak is broken.

I love how their only other album to debut at #1 was SA, since I find this album to be a continuation of that one.

I grew to love Poster Child, but I think a good follow up to B lack Summer for radio is Here Ever After or It's Only Natural. They could really go deep with this one, but I like those choices. Here Ever After is more radio-ready though. ION would need a radio edit. I can see why they would go with Poster Child tho. Also, as much as Anthony's slam poetry is kinda goofy, it actually works on Poster Child. Very clever. Then again, it's also over 5 minutes.
