Considered by many people as one of (or maybe her most) forgettable #1s, after over 15 years, in your honest opinion, do you like this so-called forgotten hit? :) (we talk about the original version featuring Joe and 98', not the remix)
Ironically, her acapella rendition of this song during her #1s Vegas tour, got many praises, considered as one of her best Vegas performances.

It's okay but definitely the worst out of her 18 #1s.

Yeah, I like it but it' definitely her worst #1.
What I'm not a fan of is the way she's been doing it in Vegas. While it lends itself for Mariah to showcase her vocal improvement, the song is basically transformed into another "song." Its melody (the one good thing about it, lbr) is unrecognizable.

One of her most forgettable #1s, but the remix is among her best Urban mixes.

It's good, but from the crowd of 18 number ones, it fails to stand out and is in the very back. Surely the weakest of the 18 No.1's

The melody is really nice, as is the vocal arrangement. It may not be a classic, but it's still a nice song.

I like this song but agree with everyone else, it is forgettable. How did it manage the #1 spot? I don't remember it being big on radio.

I like this song but agree with everyone else, it is forgettable. How did it manage the #1 spot? I don't remember it being big on radio. It didn't do all that well on radio, missing the top 20 on top 40/mainstream and barely going top 10 at Rhythmic. It was the last of her Sony #1s to benefit from their notorious deep discounting. I remember it well, as I worked in music retail from 1993 to 2002. Those point-of-purchase displays with 49¢, 99¢ or even $1.49 pricing worked wonders for many Sony artists. Not to take away from the legit popularity of the majority of her #1s, but there were some that wouldn't have been #1s without Tommy's bag of tricks... and this is one of them. Anyway, this song is sing-songy and about as vapid as Happy Birthday.

It was also one of the earliest songs to benefit from airplay of a remix that bared little likeness to the album version (Mariah had several of these in the late 90s).
The album version is dull, but I love the remix.

I havent listened to the original since it was out. The remix version is DOPE. It was transformed from a forgettable pop diddy to a urban bop.

I actually grown fond of it. I am really disappointed she doesn't perform the original version @ Vegas.

I actually grown fond of it. I am really disappointed she doesn't perform the original version @ Vegas. Eh, I love what she is doing with it. I wish she performed more of the song, but the way she is performing has made the song a real highlight in the show. If she performed it in the original way with, say, Trey standing in for Joe, it wouldn't be remembered.

How can you not love that bridge though?
See I was so desolate before you came to me Looking back (looking baaaack) I guess, it shows that we were destined to shine Under the rain to appreciate The gift of what we have And I'd go through it all over again To be able to feel this way
TGIFY was the first song I slow danced to in middle school.

I like it a lot. The remix takes it to the next level, yes, but the original isn't bad.

The original is cute, but it's dated in all the wrong ways.
The remix is far superior, but even that doesn't reach the heights of her re-workings from just a year prior.

No, lol.
However, I will echo that the remix is wonderful and amongst her best.

No, not really. The original is pleasant enough but doesn't move the needle for me, though it is notable in being one of her happiest songs lyrically. I love the remix and her renditions in Vegas though.

Yes I like it. It's a nice, pleasant song and is great in the context of the album. Petals, followed by Rainbow Interlude, then TGIFY is an example of great sequencing.
The remix is, of course, far better. Also, wasn't it the remix that ultimately put this song at #1? I think the original version's release got it to #2 and the remix release managed to push it to #1. If so, it feels fitting that the what ultimately got her the top spot was the superior version of the song.

Nice song, but probably her lowest ranked #1. That says a lot about the quality of her music--particularly 18 #1 songs.

It's a good, decent song, but it's not quite as memorable as her other hits. I would not consider it her worst, tho.
