I'm hoping this will change, but as of right now, I don't see the point in female R&B artists signing to a major label. There are no benefits for the label or the artist. And Clive Davis and L.A. Reid executive producing an album? Let's step into this century.

She slayyyyyd the BET Awards. MY GOD! Showstopping!.. As far as her signing to a major label...I'd rather flop with a major than to flop as a independent and pay out of pocket for it.

You mean her shrieking? Yeah...I think, at this point, the whole universe knows that Jennifer Hudson can get high notes and look like she caught her baby toe in the jaws of an alligator...

I'm wondering why she didn't sign back up with Clive. Was she unhappy with the label? Clive is a huge fan of hers, I wonder if they couldn't come to an agreement or if it was label issues etc.

There is no reason why she shouldn't at least be a urban ac staple with the material she's been given. I am hoping LA Reid gets her with some fresh producers and stop making her sound like she is 54 instead of 34. She is the same age as Beyonce. She needs to be more modern.

"Jennifer Hudson is the defining voice of this generation," Reid said. "Her award-winning presence on records, in film, and on stage establishes her as one of the premiere artists to emerge in this century. I'm enjoying c ollaborating with my friend and mentor Clive Davis on Jennifer’s first Epic album and excited for her fans to hear what we're up to... all will be revealed soon!" As noted by Reid, he is co-executive producing the album with Sony Music Entertainment Chief Creative Officer Clive Davis, marking the first time the pair have worked together on a project in nearly 25 years. The last time they collaborated was on Whitney Houston's record-smashing 1992 soundtrack to The Bodyguard. Hopefully they can get her music career back on track. That last era was really rough commercially and even with sales down I think she can do better than that

Hope we get music soon. Her third one was actually really good, probably her best (cohesive wise).

I love how she keep booking these acting gigs. Baby girl is WORKING! Adam Sandler is a great look. Hopefully, if she is funny she can land a Judd Apatow or a Chris Rock gig.

If so, he is a bit too much and I feel like he has been doing the same movie for the past three years now.

Moving from J/RCA to Epic is pretty much pointless as she's still working with Clive (whom as it has been said earlier, can't figure out what to do with her), but she will be working with LA Reid so hopefully he'll have a few tricks up his sleeve and can get things going for JHud. The problem that I see with Jennifer is that although her albums are decent, she's always so stellar when she does covers (Purple Rain for example) that any original song pretty much pales in comparison. I'm sure that she's had tons of offers to do cover albums and it must be tempting.

Stellar on "Purple Rain", I think not. She has done some great covers, but that is definitely not one. Anyway, she is urban AC woman so I hope she gets some decent tracks to be played. She could even be push on Hot AC and AC, which confuse me on why none of these R&B women are never pushed toward them along with urban AC. I know her name isn't Adele, but Adele's music is not too far fetched from what urban AC normally play. I'm certain that color plays a role in this but those Hot AC and AC listeners like to buy albums.

Friday afternoon was an atypical weather experience in Los Angeles– rain and lots of it. Rain so bad that traffic didn’t move because the drivers here freak out when they see a drop.
Still, up we went on the winding roads of Bel Air, the very exclusive and posh neighborhood where the elite really meet. And high up in the hills we were lucky enough to join Epic Records’ soaring chief L.A. Reid and beautiful wife Erica–recent transplants from New York– as they welcomed a few guests for brunch at their modern art-filled aerie.
Among those guests: the luminous Jennifer Hudson, who has signed with Epic (staying in the Sony-RCA family) and her husband David Otunga. Jennifer has already begun recording her new album, which will take her into a turn looking for real chart success and airplay. She’s already recorded a song called “Remember Me” that has the label very excited.
